Q: We are getting the carpet throughout the house redone. We had planned on a high quality laminate, but apparently our floors slope too much for that. Now we have to go with carpet. I fear a berber throughout will look too industrial, not homey enough. My husband feels like flush style looks like apartments he had in the 70s. The carpet salesman is recommending the same carpet in the whole 3 floor house. We have spill-prone kids, but no pets. any recommendations? we want it to look nice, but don't really know where to go from here.
A plush or a textured carpet ( I like textured since its hard to see footprints and vacuum marks) Either of those work well to give you a warm homey feeling. As far as the kids and spilling , I suggest a pad that won t allow moisture to go through . These are commonly call pet proof pads. Not allowing the moisture to seep all the way down to the wood subfloor, you prevent possible mold and its easier to get any liquids back though the carpet and this prevents restaining for from wicking. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL
Q: I heard that if someone spilled paint on their rugs their insurance will pay for new rugs minus deductable. DId you ever hear of this?
I can't imagine that it would be true... but it would probably differ between insurance companies.
Q: What about the Muenster carpet?
Special Axminster patterns and colors are generally more than 8 color components, so the pattern design is rich and colorful, exquisite style, especially for hall, conference room, public space, style can reveal its brilliant and splendid atmosphere.
Q: my carpet smells like cat pee, but i know my cat doesnt pee on my floor. My family is the original owners of our house and she is the only cat that has been in this house. how would i get the smell out of my carpet and if for some reason she is peeing on the carpet how would i get her to stop? also i thought it could be the smell of dust but i vacuum, how would i get my carpet to stop smelling?
You're going to have to use some enzyme stuff, zero odor, vinegar, Resolve, or something to change the odor. Don't be fooled that your cat didn't do it- if it smells, somebody did!
Q: Because I live in aus and the temperatures range from *lowest 6-10C winter* and highest around 36C in summer, with no dramatic weather usually, would a horse the is kept out in a paddock all its life **pleasure horse** need such rugs like winter and summer etc? (if it was clipped or didn't have a nice big fluffy coat))thanks.
Hi there, It all depends on what you are doing with the horse and where it is being kept. If you are going to show the horse then yes you will need to rug it. If you clip it it will need a rug. If it is very thin then again rugs have their place. Having said that mine are just for pleasure and I don't rug. It takes alot of hassle out of looking after them. I don't have to worry if it is too hot or cold, did or didn't I take the rug off and then the weather changed? We get everything from snow through to 40 deg. Most horses are smart enough to get out of the rain or heat by moving into shelter. My horses are out in a paddock and do just fine. I have to tell you that my Whaler X mare is not too fond of the snow. She look at it as a personal insult, having spent most of her life in the Northern Territory. Were as my daughters pony just turns into a mamoth look a like during the winter. The other up side of not rugging is that rugs rip and need repair, this can add up. I rugged my mare the first winter she was down here, thought I was doing the right thing. By the end of winter I had two rugs that where more patches than original rugs, they had been brand new. So I gave up trying to rug her. We are both more happy about it all now. Hope that helps.
Q: I'm thinking of buying carpet tile as a cheaper way to make a rug. I haven't been to home depot or lowes yet seeing as I just came up with this idea. On the store website however I can only find the pricing of cases of 35 square feet and such. I only need roughly a three tile by three tile square. So, I was wondering if they also sold it by the piece?
well thats just standard practice to list the pricing per box... you should be able to purchase by the square(piece) Also might wanna try your local carpet store.carpet squares are typically more of a comercial grade carpet,so you could also look in the phone book under commercial flooring and talk them into selling some of their extras. hope that helped.anymore questions, feel free to ask. i have been a ceramic tile installer for 10 years and did my share of carpet too. jarod
Q: I recently moved into a duplex in an older house. The apartment is nice enough but I noticed a smell that I could never quite get rid of no matter what I did. It was almost like mildew. For the first time last night I sprinkled carpet fresh on it before vacuuming. It was the Arm and Hammer kind with baking soda plus an quot;island mistquot; scent. I noticed after the island mist smell wore off the other smell was dramatically reduced, so I'm wondering if this funky smell was coming from the carpet the whole time. What kind of bacteria can a carpet harbor?
Hi there, My guess is the smell came from the carpet. Very likely pet urine caused the small. Another source of a smell in a room can be the curtains or overstuffed furniture. Besides pet urine cigarette smoke can linger in curtains and furniture. Probably the bicarbonate of soda and vacuuming will help a lot. Al
Q: I have never in my life had a fireplace before, so we were lighting the pilot light on a gas fireplace in an apartment we just got the keys to today. Some black soot type stuff got onto the carpet so I (stupidly) proceeded to spray it with carpet cleaner and blot it! It spread everywhere, and now I don't know what to do. What can I use to get ground-in soot out of off white carpet? Thank you!
I had the same thing happen with cream colored nylon carpet and used Awesome cleaner from the Dollar store and an extractor. Awesome is an amber colored fluid that comes in a spray bottle, and the extractor is Bissell Little Green Clean Machine. Worked perfectly. Having a white carpet is a challenge.
Q: My apartments carpet has been totaled over the years. I was living with a bad roommate and the carpet in his room has been ruined in various places because of stains. But i was looking at my lease and it says that it has a 5 year scale of 1200 dollars. I live in Ohio What can i expect when i move out in regards to the carpet. I have lived in my apartment for 8 years when my current lease expires.
each state has its own rules but when one has rented 8 yrs it is a given that the carpet will have to be replaced, unless extreme care was taken to maintain it
Q: Have a quick question? What do professional carpet cleaners uses to make the carpet smell like lemon etc?
Carpet deoderiser. You can buy it in the cleaning aisle at your grocery store.
