Q: Just moved into a new house and the basement is already wired for surround sound. The ends are two wires one silver one gold/brass wrapped together with plastic. This is speaking from experience. Most wires are not colour coded and you will need a amp meter to measure the current, voltage, continuity and resistance in order to find out what wire does what. One wrong wire could mean new speakers or in the worst case set fire to your car. I've have done hardwires for over 5 years, and I've seen some real mess, which quite possibly could have been avoided for a few quid but impatience and inexperience has lead to new cables, trim and other pieces which were damaged due to bad installations.
