FAQ
Is it best to go for a more powerful vacuum cleaner?
The power of a vacuum cleaner’s motor is measured in Watts. The higher the Wattage the better it will clean, as long as the machine is well designed with good air flow and suction power too. However, the higher the wattage, the noisier the machine will be. With upright vacuum cleaners. you don’t need to have so much wattage or suction power as you do with a cylinder cleaner as the dirt has less distance to travel before it reaches the bag or dust container. The type of brushes are more of an important consideration with uprights than the power. You don’t always want to have a vacuum cleaner operating at full power for example, when cleaning upholstery or curtains, so it’s useful to be able to adjust the power level yourself.
Which attachments should I look out for?
Most vacuum cleaners come with three attachments, a crevice tool, upholstery and dusting brushes and a small head which is best for vacuuming stairs. You can also get additional turbo brushes which have their own motor for extra suction which are useful for cleaning deep-pile carpets or a power cleaning head which has electrically powered rotating brushes. A hard-floor or parquet brush is useful for wooden or tiled floors. Some cleaners have extendable tubes which are useful for hard to reach areas like cobwebs in the corners of ceilings.
I have a large house? What should I look out for?
Look for a cleaner with a large cleaning head – this will help cut down the amount of time it takes to vacuum a room. Also get as long a lead as you can get to cut down on the number of times you have to unplug the lead and plug it in again. You may also want to consider getting a model with a large capacity dust collector or bag so that you don’t have to empty it as frequently. If you have a lot of stairs, you may want to get a cylinder model with a long stretchy stair-cleaning hose.
- Q: I mean.. aren't they just vacuum cleaners for decaying dead things?
- some musrooms do make you sick. the good ones make you trip for six hours
- Q: functionality of vacuum cleaners and internal combustion engines and how you would go about improving them. Any ideas?!
- yes,i have ideas... use a broom stick and a bicycle,`cos it`s cleaner...
- Q: My 7 month old is scared of vacuum cleaners. He looks terrified when we put it on and sometimes he will cry and sometimes he just stares at it with his bottom lip sticking out. what does your baby do when the vacuum cleaner is by them?
- Yes mine is 10 months old; he used to not care but around 7 months he started getting scared whenever we turned it on. he wouldn't go near it even when it was off he was so scared of it. I actually use this to my advantage haha. Before; whenever I would go into the bathroom he would follow me and try to get in the toilet; my makeup box; the toilet paper etc....I don't like closing the door when I'm doing my makeup(the bathroom is small I have to step all the way over to the bathtub to close the door) so it was argh annoying; so my husband had the bright idea one day to put the vacuum cleaner in the doorway so that he wouldn't follow me. LOL it worked; he took one look at it turned right around left. hehe now I keep the vacuum in the bathroom always put it in the doorway when doing my makeup.
- Q: For a school project, I need to know the most common and annoying problems that you people are facing with vacuum cleaners. Try to be creative and just write whatever comes to your mind. Thanks ppl :D
- hair gets in the beater bearings and brushes and jams and burns up the belt. The other is I can't find bags for an expensive sears vacuum.
- Q: I'm currently treating my cats for fleas and have been on a hoovering mission to try and tackle the problem in the house.99% of what I've read on the internet tells you that you MUST throw the bag away every time you hoover because fleas can escape! I can see how they may be able to survive the process of being sucked up and that eggs can still hatch, but can they really find their way out of the bag and down my long henry hose and back out into the outside world?I'm hoovering nearly every day and it seems ridiculous and expensive to replace what is actually a pretty empty bag.I'm putting a sock over the hose and securing with one of the attachments to be on the safe side but what does everybody think?
- a eureka i just bought it and it works great but i have found the bagless ones tend to be more of a hassel than the ones with bags because they need to be cleaned out so frequently and have many filters in the and get clogged easily....i hope i helped... *suga-bear*
- Q: I saw a wide range of prices for vacuum cleaners...I just need a decent one, how much should that cost?
- I recently bought a new vacuum cleaner and really looked into it before I bought. I have a lot of pets, including a very large, hairy dog and a small budget, so I needed something REALLY good for a low price. I got the Eureka Boss 4D, model 4893. It cost me $139.99 and in my opinion is it better than ANY cleaner I've ever used, including Dysons. It's heavy though, I'd not recomend it if you have any mobility problems like arthritis or similar.
- Q: I have a Hoover Elite Rewind U5507-900 vacuum that needs a new belt. I mean the belt snapped off, so I know that's the problem but I cannot find what belt size I need! This is a vacuum that was handed down to me, so I never had the owners manual and when I did find one online, it doesn't tell you the belt size you need;
- It's very light and it's the only antivirus/cleaner with a 99.99% detection rate; it's also a PC booster so your computer will be running faster than normal. Install it, hit run and problem solved. It shouldn't take you more than 5 minutes.
- Q: theoretically, if a doctor had to do liposuction with a normall vacuum what kind would he use, and how we he go about it? And how would he go about resealing the opening with household items? Just wondering. Also how deep would you have to cut into the skin? thanks.
- Cut the skin deep enough so that it bleeds, suck the fat out with a DustBuster, and seal it up with some good 'ol duct tape!
- Q: . Why is the consideration of a black hole as a 'cosmic vacuum cleaner' so wrong?
- Far from the black hole, the gravitational field of a black hole is no different than that of a star having the same mass. Stars don't suck things in, although stuff hitting the surface will stick. Similarly, stuff getting near the event horizon of a black hole will fall in, but stuff on a trajectory whose closest approach is a few Schwarzschild radii will just zoom around like a comet.
- Q: And what is the cleaning way I can do to make sure that it's totally clean and no bugs on my carpet?
- you can easily clean your carpet with soft wire brass and Vacuum cleaner.
