- Q: I‘m trying to figure out how to flip a car over on it‘s side from one piston. The car is 2,000 lbs. Thank you.
- as long as the two ends are trimmed and the celery and carrots are long sufficient to load up a sturdy quantity of dip, then any length is advantageous! i'm not that meticulous on the subject of the size of carrots or celery sticks. different issues.different tale, yet we can't circulate there. And yeah, you somewhat are a huge tease!! yet i will shop ya besides!? do exactly not tell your different girlfriends, ok? that is meant to be a secret!!
- Q: I drive 50 MPH in high winds driving against the wind. What are the chances of my car lifting up?
- The best thing for you to do my friend is just to start using STP oil treatment . Put in one bottle at every oil change. The detergents in STP will clean your engine out over time providing you change oil every 3000 miles and that you use a good quality motor oil. It will remove the sludge and varnish while adding a layer of protection to your engine's moving parts. I use it in all my personal vehicles and it is very good stuff. STP oil treatment has been on the market longer than I have been alive. Let that be proof for itself. I have had many machine shop operators that has done work for me in the past tell me that he can tell when someone uses STP on a regular basis. It literally bakes into the metal on the engine. PLEASE DO NOT USE ENGINE FLUSHES. It thins out the motor oil viscosity to a very dangerous level and can cause the rings to scratch the cylinder walls because the flush has taken away the lubricating properties of motor oil. If this happens, then your engine has to be overhauled. I have had many engines come through my shop where the owner says that they used such a product and has ended up costing big time $$$$. . I don't know why the stuff is even allowed to be sold. PLEASE DO NOT USE ENGINE FLUSHES!!!
- Q: I took my car for tire replacement and my car was dropped twice from the lift. I would say that the car was dropped from a height of 4 feet. I got an incident report from the manager and now I think I should take the car to some other shop for inspection. There are no visible damages but I think dropping from 4 feet is not something that cars are made to withstand. The car was dropped twice, one time I saw it myself, the other time I only heard the noise and noticed the mechanics putting additional jacks under the car. Upon asking, I was told that they just want to be careful that the front of the car doesn‘t drop to the ground while the rest of the car is still on the lift. Now, I am not sure where to take the car for inspection and whether a mechanic can pinpoint the problems resulting from this incident. Any suggestions?
- Are there any Problems? Good Alignment Shop to be Inspected; Just tell him the Front End Just doesn't feel right and nothing else.
- Q: Ok, so I have a 1994 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo, and I have a couple questions regarding how hard it would be to lift it myself (as oppose to having a auto-shop do it). I have a lot of the tools I think I would need, however I have little experience with cars. How much money could I expect to have spent after all is said and done? Finally, how long would it take me? Any other advice or info would be great. Thanks.
- UNLESS UR SEXY HOT, AND MY TYPE OF girl!!!!
- Q: give parts name.
- The answer to your question is not simple, you asked a broad question. Depending on what you plan on lifting, ATV's, cars, trucks, or tractor trailers this will determine what you need to lift it. If you are planning on lifting cars, then you will need two hydraulic pistons rated at, at least 1.5 - 2 tons. You would make a simpler scissor lift. But to make a traditional lift, you will need very large (tall) hydrualic pistons have approximately a 5-6' range to lift the car up enough. Also, you will need hydraulic pumps and fluid that can support the kind of load needed for these pistons. Then you will need to make a housing to encase this all in and you will need to make a lift arm mechanism. This will need to be very strong, high carbon steel since it will act as a cantilever beam. 4 arms need to be made that swivel out to support the car. I've listed a couple sites below that show them, the scissor lift would be easier to make but not as useful since the car's tires actually ride on them and usually to do any kind of maintenance, the tires need to be removed for doing the brakes, struts etc. You can buy a whole lift kit for only $1375.00. You might want to think about just buying one instead of making one.
- Q: I am 16 and am a very responsible driver, i make straight a‘s in school, and dress nice, my parents gave me their 2000 black durango, leather interior and it has 20 inch rims on it, it looks very nice, but what would be your impression on a guy that has that car(rims)?does it conflict with my character?
- i'd think it was pretty sweet looking p.s. - my mom had a black 2000 dodge durango too! but she didnt have rims haha
- Q: Why can‘t we just accept the fact we suck at making cars and have lost our comparative advantage?
- you should run for office.your clearly an economic genius. NO!!!!!! thats why the economy is dirt.
- Q: I have a 1992 Cadillac fleetwood and I need to pit in the spare. But it has no Jack. Can I use my moms Jack to lift my car? She has a 07‘ Toyota solara if it matters. Thanks. Its an emergency! !
- Well I dont know anything about how rusty your car is, or what kind of jack she has. But here in the uk most jacks that i have come across are usable on any car, subject to obvious weight limitations - you. Wouldnt want to use a little car jack on a big lorry. But the fact that you are asking the question makes me think maybe you should leave the job to the experts. If the jack slips serious injury can result, so make sure it is safe and that passing traffic is not a hazard.
- Q: Why do we use piston in a hydraulic car lift ?can we use something else instead?
- With hydraulics, the piston is the most efficient approach. You can use a screw type device. but you would have to find some way to turn the screw, such as an electric motor. You can also use a lever and fulcrum. The lever would have to be pretty long.
