- Q: My AC went out, and a few days later my emissions light came on. It‘s making a whining chuga-chuga-chuga sound when I crank it up, that gets quieter as I drive. I tried adding freon to fix the AC problem, but it hasn‘t helped. It blows warm, but still works, btw. Could these 2 problems be related? Anyone have any idea what‘s going on with it?
- They're probably coincidental. Most AC systems fail because of leaks in seals, not because of mechanical failure, and putting in more freon won't do any good if it just leaks out. New seals are fairly cheap, and readily available at any auto parts store, but the system should have a dye in it that can be seen with an ultraviolet light to pin point the leak. It shouldn't be a big deal to fix. If the emissions light turned on, there's probably a trouble code stored on the computer, which can be read with any code reader. It's very likely to be for a bad oxygen sensor or two. Again, not a big deal to fix.

- The check engine light comes on when a sensor reads out of the allowable range. It could have been caused by something simple, such as not turning the car off when you were getting fuel (setting an evaporative emissions system code), or it could have been caused by an engine misfire, or other problem. Have the computer scanned for codes, many auto parts chains will do this for free. The code will tell you what the problem is.
- Q: Thanks for answering so soon.Almost every year I have been going to the Toyota dealer with this problem. They mention different codes while none of my mechanics cannot find anything wrong in the systems and the car runs fine. I have spend money on diagnostics and replacement of parts to then few months later have the light on again.Are they tampering? Is there something wrong that has not been fixed? One of my mechanics said it could be anything small, such as a leak, or something loose. He says he cannot find it. The Toyota people obviously neither.Any idea?
- No idea, but stop wasting your time and money going to the dealer. Go to your local auto parts store and buy a code reader. They are not that expensive. Next time your check engine light comes on, attach the code reader, obtain the code and then clear the light. You can Google the code and determine what the problem is and if it is serious enough to require repair. I keep my code reader in the glove box all the time. It's saved me hundreds on dollars.

- If the truck has independent brake and turn signals he will need a trailer harness converter available at all auto parts stores as trailers currently use a combo brake turn system. If he wants to go the other route he will have to add two lights and wires to the trailer for correct operation. Standard trailer harness colors are Yellow Drivers side turn/brake Green Passengers side turn/brake Brown Marker lights White Chassis ground I am not sure of the truck harness as no year was given but I believe all modern imports are independent.(has brake lights and turn signal lights that are separate from each other) If I had the model and year of truck I could get you the correct wiring schematics for it and some Yotas actually have a quick plug harness you can buy the plug in to plugPlay the lights. - Q: 97 ford ranger, passed smog recently,slightly overdue for oil change but no noises/changes in the way it drives recently.check engine comes on a few days ago, I immediately borrow the OBDII reader from Autozone 15 miles away (had to call 4 before I found one that still lends one out for free w/deposit, BTW), it comes back with P1443 code, which Autozone says means about 8 different things. check engine light goes off after OBDII read even though I didn‘t press the button to remove the code from computer via reader. In any case, if the CE light doesn‘t keep coming on, should I worry about it? or pay to have someone take a closer look now?

- These car headlights are controlled with a triple five timer chip, if water has got into your system and shorted past the timer chip then the lights would stay on. There should be a manual override switch which should sort this out for you. I have encountered this before i hope this helps
