- Q: I have a 2001 chevy cavalier. Yesterday, when i was driving to work the service light showed up on the dashboard. Today when the light turned on. I heard a clicking sound and saw the headlight flicker and then the service light turns on. If i start driving with the heardlights on, the service light doesn‘t come on . Any ideas what the issue might be?
- sounds like something is wrong with the alternator. maybe the belt is loose or the voltage regulator is sticking inside the alternator.
- Q: I have a '07 Corolla CE. I have made no modifications to the original motor, transmission, etc. I have noticed that my heater is not nearly as strong as it was in the first few years of owning the car. Of the 4 available strengths that the heat blow normally the 1st one barely has any effect. Generally the 2nd is okay but not great. The only time it seems to be generally working okay is when I am on the highway and at a cruising speed of 60+mph. I have noticed the same thing in the summer when using my air conditioner though it seems to be even weaker. I usually have to use 3 if not the 4th highest setting of strength to get a comfortable feeling within the car. Though in the A/C's case it does seem that it is speed affected. What are the likely causes and fixes for this situation. If you happen to know what the price range of the fix would be as well it would be appreciated.
- Mark32937 answered it perfect! Your car probably has a low, medium, medium high and high setting for the speed of your blower motor. If any of these do not work then it's almost a guaranteed blower motor resistor. Very cheap and autozone offers a lifetime warrantee for them. But be careful installing, they are fragile. Secondly, like the others said, your A/C will always blow cooler when in motion. This is so because your condenser acts as a small radiator for your refrigerant. If theres no air flow to dissipate the heat from your condenser, the A/C won't be as cold. Hope this helps!
- Q: Thanks for answering so soon.Almost every year I have been going to the Toyota dealer with this problem. They mention different codes while none of my mechanics cannot find anything wrong in the systems and the car runs fine. I have spend money on diagnostics and replacement of parts to then few months later have the light on again.Are they tampering? Is there something wrong that has not been fixed? One of my mechanics said it could be anything small, such as a leak, or something loose. He says he cannot find it. The Toyota people obviously neither.Any idea?
- No idea, but stop wasting your time and money going to the dealer. Go to your local auto parts store and buy a code reader. They are not that expensive. Next time your check engine light comes on, attach the code reader, obtain the code and then clear the light. You can Google the code and determine what the problem is and if it is serious enough to require repair. I keep my code reader in the glove box all the time. It's saved me hundreds on dollars.
- Q: Car head light color temperature 4300k or 5000k which lights
- Low color temperature penetration of some stronger, yellow color, rainy days fog better. 5000K looks comfortable some bright, penetrating power as 4300K. In fact, these two can not be a lot of difference.

- I don't think I have ever heard of stainless steel water pipes before except in special conditions like acid or something caustic. Copper is of course the pipes of choice or PVC which have special conditions also. They are cheaper and easier to put in but, I'll stand with copper every time.
- Q: Ok so I was driving and out of nowhere my engine light comes on and when I would complete a stop on a light my car would shake. It also kinda wanted to turn off on me but it didn‘t. And when I was in a stop and then accelerated my car would take out white smoke out of the exhaust. Also when I would try to accelerate it would have trouble accelerating it didn‘t want to go. - The first thing you'll to do is have the check engine light decode (Read), most auto part stores do it for free, including Aamco stores and go from there. White smoke? If it just vapor, steamy white smoke when the engine is cold then it should be consider normal. But if keep on smoking and the vehicle is loosing coolant: Remove all spark plugs then do a cooling system pressure test and if you use a small flash light or better use a borescope and look through the spark plug holes and you'll see if the coolant get into the cylinder combustion chambers, this is the reason causing the white smoke. The cause is a cracked cylinder head or a blown head gasket. Take care and check into the matter right now before the coolant fill up the cylinders overnight and when you start it up the next time. It'll go to a Hydro- lock and engine damage will occur. HTH

- With all the tech around tis there really not a way to put wipers on rear windows on all sedans, in heavy rain driving in city traffic is when you really need a clean rear window. Your side mirrors are wreaked with rain, they become useless, your back window is basically blind from all the rain,so how do you check the traffic behind you on red lights, stop signs and uncontrolled intersections ? The no.1 collision in city traffic, you guessed it, is rear end collisions. I teach my driver ed students, that every time your foot moves to the brake pedal, or you know you are going to slow down soon, your eyes go to your mirrors, hard to see anything in heavy rain storms, safety is now a monumental factor, vehicles in the flow of traffic and pedestrians scurrying across streets in a rain storm. - Q: The engine light was on the other day and I went to Auto Zone to check. The code was P0456. And they told me that there was some minor problem with the fuel cap. I checked the cap and I tightened it again, everything was fine but the light was still on. That‘s going on?
- Evap emmision system detecting a leak, they said fuel cap cause often they are not tightened correctly to where a click is heard. Simply enough replace it have the ecm code cleared and see if it returns there may be a leak in the system elsewhere which you will need a smoke machine, that plugs into the Evap system to locate the leak

- Q: I got some ebay projector headlights for my camaro. I should of listened to the majority of people who say ebay projectors suck. They look nice.but I can‘t see much: the beam pattern is all spread out and strange, and doesn‘t extend far at all. Is there any way I can upgrade them so I can see more and farther? - Not really. Before you get in trouble (what you've done is illegal), get back to the original halogens, which are the only legal solution. You may look for the new improved brightness bulbs from reputable manufacturers, just make sure they have the original power (60W main, 55W dipped), otherwise you may bake the headlamp protective cover and coating. Real industry-grade HIDs cost much more and require their projectors, auto leveling system and headlamp washer. In other words, they must be factory-installed.
