- Q: I have a 2000 GMC Sierra with the 5.3 and 4x4. Sometimes the ABS and Brake lights come on at the same time and sometimes they don‘t. I had it scanned at AutoZone and no codes showed up. It stops just fine and I can‘t seem to find any issues with the brakes. Anyone know what could be wrong?

- Q: I‘m looking for a new Semi-auto (light-weight) shot gun that I can put a rifled barrel on and use as a slug gun. I was looking around and found out Benelli‘s semi-autos have an inertia system instead of a gas one. Does that system still use the recoil of the gun? How does it work different from the gas. (and if you know of any good light-weight semi-auto slug guns please feel free to post any oppinions or info on that) (except Remingtons, I can‘t stand em)
- I have an M1 tactical with a pistol grip and ghost ring sights. I have mixed and matched a variety of different rounds in the tube and have had no trouble or any jams. For example, I have loaded skeet, a 2.75 slug, skeet, a 3 inch BBB goose load, skeet, etc. It shoots them all without a hitch. I don't know if I would call it light weight, but it shoots slugs good with the ghost ring sights, and is a well-made weapon.
- Q: My battery light on my car was on the other day and than my car would not start. We took in to a auto store to be read and charged. They couldn't not charge it. So we replaced it with a new battery. But my battery light is still on and will not go off.
- I would get it looked at soon before your alternator kills your new battery. Get a voltmeter and check the voltage while the car is running both on the AC and DC setting or take it too Sears they will diagnose it for free.
- Q: Over the weekend our 1997 Honda Civic sedan developed an interesting problem. After starting the car and pushing on the brake I cannot shift the auto transmission out of Park. So I first have to manually unlock it, shift to Neutral and then start the car. Also the horn is now not working. I checked the horn fuse which was blown and replaced it but upon trying to test the horn the fuse blew again. Any ideas on what the problem could be?
- The problem with the car not shifting out of Park is caused by your blown fuse for the Horn. Here's the logic the car will not shift out of Park unless you have your foot on the brake pedal. the only way the shift interlock system knows you have your foot on the brake pedal is that when you put your foot on the brake pedal the brake lights in the back of the car come on. so if the brake lights are ON then the shift interlock system lets you take the car out of Park. the taillights share the same fuse as the horn. so when the fuse for the horn blows the brake lights don't work. you have to systematically eliminate the components in the circuit to see what's causing the problem. I would do it this way 1) replace the fuse (better have about 5 fuses to do this). then step on the brake and shift the car out of Park. if it works then you can eliminate everything in the brake lights portion of the system because the fuse did not blow. 2) try the horn. again, I know you said it blew when you tested the horn so your problem should be with the horn side but do it just to confirm. if the fuse blows again then you know its the horn circuit that is the problem 3) replace the fuse, then unplug the horn connector. then try the horn again. if the fuse doesn't blow you have a shorted horn. my guess is this is your problem. 3) if the fuse blows then the problem is with the horn relay. you can substitute any like relay in the underhood fuse and relay box for the horn relay and test it. if the horn works and the fuse doesn't blow your problem is a shorted relay. 4) if you find the horn is shorted then you can just remove the connector and drive without the horn until you can get it fixed or, if you can't get to the horn connector (its usually not very easy) then pull the horn relay and at least you'll have brake lights and the shift interlock until you can get the horn replaced I think you'll find its the horn itself. Hope that helps
- Q: I‘m having a problem with my a/c system. the interior lights on the controls no longer come on, and many things don‘t work anymore. the fan comes on blows air, but it‘s no longer heated. and the ducts don‘t move either, for when you want the air from the outside vs inside air circulation. everything was fine yesterday until the thermostat housing was attempted to be taken off.the last bolt wouldn‘t come off. and the housing has shifted a bit from its original place, and wont be budged back. could this have anything to do with it. i checked all fuses and they work fine. any solutions?
- If you want heat, it's carried by the engine coolant. If the engine thermostat housing isn't closed tight, the coolant will all leak out and not carry heat anywhere- the heater, the radiator- not anywhere, and it will stay where you don't want too much of it- in the engine. The engine will overheat very quickly without coolant in it and be damaged badly. The interior heating ducts are controlled, often, by engine vacuum carried by little hoses and some may have gotten knocked loose. Some cars do this wth cables and levers instead of vacuum. You need to look in a good auto repair manual like Chiltons and see where everything related to heating and cooling belongs and make sure it's still there. But before you try to start the engine, fix the thermostat housing. Get a friend who knows about these things to help you and don't let it get dark before you finish working. Since the heater lights don't come on anymore, find the wire that got knocked off and plug it back. How do bolts on an engine near a thermostat get stuck? Maybe it's rusted in place, or stuck with block sealer that was used to stop a leak. Leak stop with sodium silicate will do that, and that's about the best kind of sealer, but the problems it can cause are what you have. I hope you never have to take the head off- some of the head bolts might be stuck too and they are extremely hard- I wouldn't want to have to try and drill out one, and you'd need a diamond drill, or at least carbide. If you break the thermostat bolt, you'll have to drill it out and tap new threads in the hole so a new bolt will go in and hold. That simple job got very complicated, didn't it.
- Q: i got it fixed recently but will anything else need to be fixed immediately following?
- look for override button under dash
- Q: Last week when im driving my Check engine light and my ETS light come on at the same time. I went to Auto Zone and i checked the computer and the code that came up was P0420 it said that the catalyst system was preforming below efficiency bank 1. They said this is the O2 sensor and i replaced it and reset the computer and the light went off for 3 days. Then the same 2 lights came back and i didnt know what was going on. So now my car is going through about 1/8 a tank a day now. My buddy who works for a dealership says it might be the spark plugs that need to be replaced and i dont know if this will fix it (other problem is i know how to do this but im without a tourqe wrench so i cant do the job while im here in LA) So if there is any techs out there that work for GM and could lend a hand to let me know whats going on i would be greatfull. I used to work as a porter before for two dealerships so if you guys can help me her in the LA area it would be great. Thanks,SeanYou can IM me
- I have a 01 Grand am and it is doing the same thing PO420 code if you replaced the O2 sensors then its probably the CAT. I have found out the for some reason every time the check engine light comes on so does the ETS light I was told there is nothing wrong with it it just trips the light when the check engine comes on. You can buy a new CAT for like $40 it should fix it
- Q: ok we own a 1989 buick leasaber custom. it runs like a top. how ever. just today the check engine light has come on. now it does not stay on. when you start down the road its off then when you stop it comes on. then when you go again it turns off. i have plans to check the air filter. but any other ideas? its not blinking and i have no obd1 reader and idk how to check the code
- Most all auto parts stores have stopped reading the OBD1 codes but here are instructions to check it yourself. www.extreme-check-engine-light-co.
- Q: in my 1994 mitsubishi expo when the brake is not on.then after awhile it shuts off.the guy at firestone said the brake fluid was dirty and a little low, but he couldn‘t just change it or add more in , he would have to check for a leak in the system first , and that would cost about $600.but when he dipped his finger in it and I drove away, it shut off.It did this again today and after warmed up , it shut itself off
- Go to the auto parts store, or walmart, and get some Dot 3 brake fluid and fill up the master cylinder. That should turn the light off. Check the fluid level after about a week, if the light stays off. Low fluid level should tell you if there is a leak.
- Q: 2001 Ford F150 with 6cyl motor. code P0401 exhaust gas recirculation flow insufficient detected- I am not a auto mechanic.Does anybody know what is wrong? Is it the EGR valve? Can I fix it myself with simple hand tools? Thank you for any help.
- replace the DPFE sensor.this things fail constantly and produce that code.i can almost guarantee this will take care of your problem
