Q: I am replacing my vanity sink with a Pedestal sink. I turned the shut off vales to the off position tight.I disconnected the cold water and drained the remaining water and everything was fine. I disconnected the hot and drained the water from the connecting tube but water still came out of the shut off valve at a decent pace.I placed my finger over the valve and i felt pressure build up...like when you stick your finger over a bottle of soda.I tightened the bolt on the valve and even the screw to the handle to no resolve.any ideas on how to make it stop while i connect the Pedestal sink?also, i am as novice as it gets.thanks in advance
Hi There, There should be a shutoff valve at the water meter or sometimes there will be one inside the house where the water main enters. You can shut off the water there. Another option is there will be a shutoff valve on the cold water side just before the water heater. You can shut off the water there. The shutoff valve under the sink should be replaced at your earliest convenience because they are there for a reason. That would also be a good time to replace the cold water shutoff valve under the sink also because both valves are probably the same age. New valves can be found at a home center or hardware store for a reasonable price. Note: You really should locate your main water and gas shutoff valves so you can find them in an emergency. The same goes for the main electrical shutoff. It is important to know this beforehand. Hope this helps, Al
Q: Between these two Blow off valves around the same price, what would be the best choice for a pt cruiser.
The Mopar Performance blow off valve is really going to be your best bet if the two are roughly the same price. The reason I say that is because the Mopar unit is designed to fit onto that car, therefore it is engineered to release excess pressure at a safe level for that engine. The Greddy unit is also going to typically require modification to make it fit and function properly. Unfortunately, what they don't tell you about universal units is the reason they are universal is because they don't fit anything until you make them to fit, you just have enough material and hardware to get creative with it. If you are looking to extensively modify your engine, then it may benefit you to go with the universal unit and just wait until you have your piping cut exactly the way you want it, this may give you better location or clearance using the aftermarket unit, but otherwise like I said, I would go with the factory performance BOV. If you have any further questions about your cruiser, please feel free to email me, I have had a cruiser for a couple of years now and have also done lots of customizing to cruisers for friends.
Q: Can you please explain to me what an atrial valve is and what it does??
By atrial valve, I assume it meant the atrioventricular valves. Basically, in the heart, the blood flows from right atrium, right ventricle, left atrium, left ventricle. The atrioventricular valves are the tricuspid and bicuspid valves. They make sure the blood flows from the right atrium - right ventricle and left atrium - left ventricle respectively and prevents blood from flowing the wrong way in those chambers.
Q: Is there a more technically correct name for a valve that slowly opens, allowing increased pressure in a water line without blowing the end off?
I've always known them to be simply called motorized valves, but they aren't specifically made to prevent instantaneous pressure build up. They are usually installed as a convenience type of thing and in lieu of solenoid valve which WOULD be an almost immediate full pressure situation, but any valve other than a solenoid activated one will allow for slow build up of pressure. A motorized valve just lets you do it automatically and you don't have to be right at the valve location to open it. Al
Q: Someone explained on chevy that valve guide clearance can limit lift.
The measurement between the valve stem and valve guide which is the drilled machined hole in the cast iron cylinder head. .0015 - .0018 is the usual valve guide to valve stem clearance.
Q: where in the engine is the heater control valve located on a 2001 toyota corolla
standing okorder / sign up and post in the 8th gen corolla forum. great ppl. been a member for years.
Q: my valve cap is leaking slowing how do i fix it what part do i need
It might be just the core that is leaking but I would have a new stem put in to be on the safe side.
Q: Or is our money stinky? is the $59 we paid not equivalent to that paid by xbox360 ps3? Please help!! I am sick of getting killed every 5 minutes. Is VAC false advertising?
VAC takes time, it's not instant. That, or you suck.
Q: does that mean it doesnt work?, how can i tell if the egr valve works still?
Not sure how to answer. First the vacuum line going to your egr only has vacuum under certain conditions and never at idle. If you have an egr code/problem.... email me with code/syptom and vehicle info i'll try to help further. :)
Q: I need to replace my egr valve on my 98 Ford Taurus station wagon, and was wondering where is it located and how tough is it to replace?
complicated point. do a search using search engines like google. it could help!
