Q:This is a self built computer. When using it in a different room, it functioned normally. However, now that I've moved it to a new room, it would constantly reboot or just loses power entirely. With the latter, I would have to remove the power cable and hold the on button for a while before I could turn it back on. Also, when I shut it down, the computer would reboot by itself instead.: Hi There, I would suggest shutting it down, unplugging the power and holding the power button on for a few seconds to discharge any remaining power. Next open the side cover and check all the cables to make sure none have worked loose while moving to the next room. While the case is open would be a good time to blow out any dust, etc inside and clean any air filters. Hope this helps, Al

Q:I have my old 350 power supply cable but i got a new 520 one. do i have to use the defuly 520 power suppl cable? i use my old cabbke: The cable merely supplies the power to the PSU. You're confusing the wattage of the PSU (350/520W) with the supply voltage (110/120/240v). The cable will work perfectly with either one?

Q:If Not What Do I Have To Look Out For Because Im Looking For A New Power Supply Fan.: To be honest, by the time you dismantle your power supply and find the right kind of fan (no, not usually the same, generally smaller) and then glue it all back together, it would be a lot simpler just to get a new PSU.. They're really very cheap, and a lot less hassle to subsititute than to repair

Q:ok so i opend up my machine, and i bassicly took apart the processor and removed the dail up pci card thingy, then i put it all back together and i also took off the case, which meant removing all case power leads, quot;power SWand power led etc. but i put them all in the same place i took them out, well i think i did, theres so many different slots it they could go into, it would take at least 500 attempts to find the right slots for all, not to mention the fact i might blow the board. so has anyone got the manual for this motherboard. or no where to find an online one. cus i need to know where to plug them in. thanks: hi bradley we have all been there before.... rebuilt a pc and forgot which connectors go where on the motherboard.... however if you go to your motherboard manufactuers website you should be able to download the motherboard manual which will have a detailed diagram showing you were each connector goes however in theory you can get away with just plugging in the power connector ( power sw ) ....and it wont do any harm trying each combination... however i would recommend trying the top row of pins... and make sure you insert the connector horizontally as you look at it for example check this image of the power sw connector properly connected ( img204.imageshack.us/img204/8682/... ) .....as you can see the power sw is using pins 3 and 4 on the back row of pins.... so give that a try firstas i stated you wont blow the board..... ive seen people use screwdrivers to start their motherboards .. and this is done by shorting two pins.... so theres no way you are going to blow your motherboard..... however i would try to locate your motherboard manual first.... and failing that try my method.... and a good idea is to draw a diagram of your motherboard pins ... then as soon as you have tried a combination mark it off.... at least this way you are not going to try the same combination twice i hope this has helped,any problems let me know good luck bradley !

Q:I have had my Sony Laptop for about 2-3years. And only recently is it acting weird.When I have my power plugged in, the laptop runs fine and can be on as long as the power cable is in. But as soon as I take my power cable out, it automatically shuts down.I checked the power management, and it says my battery has 0% power. I have tried taking the battery out and putting it back in, but it still does not work.The lights on my laptop indicate it is charging, but it does not put any power into my battery and the only way it can run is if my power cable is plugged in. The battery is pretty much dead :/Is there any solutions to this? Considering I bought it in the UK and now live in the US: The battery is toast. You will most likely need to buy a new battery for it.

Provided you haven't tampered with the drive and put it back properly BEFORE you go back online it should be fine. At least, it was fine for us. Disconnect the Ethernet cable while you carry this out to be on the safe side.
