- Q: I purchased the chair about 3-4 yrs ago from Pier 1 Imports and they told me it was discontinued. The chair is called Madison Chair #13010 Fab#9470. It is a paisley arm chair.
- You might want to cut a small piece of material from the bottom of the chair and take it to a fabric store and see if they have the same fabric, then you can have a another chair covered in the same fabric. Sometimes if you can find out who the manufacturer of the material is, you can call them and see if they still have it and where you can purchase it. Other than that look on Ebay or Craig's list and see if you can find a match to your chair. Hope this helps.

- Depends on the chair. Most chairs turn out to not be so great. But a kitchen chair is good for the woman straddled on top, and any chair can be good for doggie-style for the woman to prop up on. Otherwise, chairs are overrated.

- Q: We are ordering office chairs but our desk height is 33 3/4 in. from floor to counter top. Which is too high for our current chairs. I have pain in my elbows and wrists from typing with my arms bent up to the desk. I don't know how chair height is measured so I can't tell what height to order for proper height. - Q: Ok, my directors chair which I love so much, has quit. It will not pop up anymore. I guess the shock underneath quit. I have another smaller directors chair, which is just ok. Can I take the shock out of that one and put it in my bigger/better directors chair for it to work again. I miss my good chair, it has arms on it and very good. The other one does not have arms. - so you have an air shock under the chair that is supposed to hold you up but it leaks air so the chair stays in the lower position all the time? You may be able to replace the seals in the shock, or replace the shock itself. See if you can find the name of the company that made it and the model number and call them about your options. If the shocks are the same size and look the same, you can try switching them.
- Q: i have these wooden chairs that have dried peeling paint i need to get off so i can stain them. there is no varnish or stain i can see, just old paint. Is sanding it off the best way to go? are there sanders small enough to get into the corners and grooves? i am pregnant, so chemicals are not an option. thank you!
- Unfortunately there is no easy way to do this, you can have the chairs dipped by a professional stripper, the whole chair is submerged in a solution and comes out clean, usually though this weakens the joints so some minor repairs may need to be done. even with the paint stripped off you will still need to do some sanding. Plus, and this does not always happen but once you stain and apply the topcoat (shellac or polyurethane, etc) some of the stripping chemical agent may still be present in the wood and this topcoat may cause it to leach out and bubble the finish. We've found that washing the stripped piece with lacquer thinner, allowing it to dry then sanding will yield suitable results. It's not that daunting a task and worthwhile in the end.

- It does look like a very nice chair. Since it was designed by a civil engineer, the price, cant be considered too ridiculous. I think you have answered you own Q though since you did say it's your dream chair. I wouldn't let stranger get in the way of my dreams.
