- Q: Can somebody tell me about the invention of printing press and its impact on human society?
- Johannes Gutenberg (time magazines man of the millenium I believe) created the printing press. This is true but, be very careful because history is never so clear when you are learned. The Chinese invented movable type around 400 B.C. You can say this was an independaent invention but, even reliable sources get this wrong. The invention of movable type made it so books and journals could be made instead of hand copied, Can you imagine? Writing all of that stuff instead of using a printer. This made people smarter because they now could get copies of books and newspapers. edit* as you notice not to undermind anyone but, the poster below me got it wrong. The Chinese did not have a printing press they had movable type a distinction to be made. If you want sources edit your question, ask and you will get them. I believe this might be just SS homework however so unless requested I won't bother. It is interesting though b/c I corrected my University on this very topic! They made a display in the library and I told them they needed to be more careful after much consideration and chasing down referrences they told me they would change it (I always thought they should have given me some meaningless reward but oh well).
- Q: I'm talking calf pressing with a leg press machine. I'm a 19 year old female athlete and each time I go to the gym I add more and more weight on and can still do it relatively easily. Right now I'm at around 650 lbs. I do around a 100 reps of it before my feet cramp and I stop. The only thing that is getting more difficult is lifting it off the safety catch. The actual calf pressing is easy. I just want to know if I will eventually be able to max out, or if I will even be able to try before my quads are just not able to lift the weight up.
- If you want to work your calves to failure, it's not hard to do. Use a calf machine. As for the leg press, there's no way we can know because we don't know how strong your legs are. However, you can always work to failure simply because there is always an upper limit to how many calf presses you can do. Try doing 1000 and if that's not enough do 10,000 reps...etc. So the rather obvious answer to your question is yes. Good luck and good health!! ?

- Q: im writing a paper on freedom of the press and i was just curious to see what other peoples opinions were. thanks for the help
- Be nice if there was such a thing.
- Q: I'm 17 and I'm a beginner to weightlifting. I have a weight bench and barbell in my room and the max I can lift on it is 20kg. I was reading online and everywhere I looked everyone is putting the flat bench press down. They say to do a workout of incline and decline and that the flat is bad. Is that just because they have been training for years and it doesn't work for them anymore ? Is it ok for me ? Thanks in advance :)
- Flat bench is fine. Look up so you think you can bench on youtube. That series of videos will teach you how to bench press in a way that protects your shoulders. You also need to balance your pressing movements with pulling movements to keep your shoulder balanced and healthy. So you should row as much and as heavy as you bench press. If you do those two things you will never have shoulder issues from pressing. Also, decline is stupid. Incline is cool, it targets the upper chest (pec minor) a little more, which most guys lack. You should also overhead press, not just bench press. But yes, the flat bench is a fine exercise.
- Q: tomorow in the football tryouts we have to lift 100lb at bench press any tip for it?
- Uh, it's a little late for tips for tomorrow. What kind of coach determines how good a football player is by his bench press? I can show you 25 guys who can bench press a lot but wouldn't be worth a **** as football players. Are you trying out for, a bench press team or a football team? And what program has football tryouts in the middle of July? ___________ Bryce Harper - I KNOW what weight lifting's good for. I've done it far longer than you have. Any coach that picks a team based on someone's bench press is a moron. One example is, most bench pressers with shorter arms can lift more, pound for pound, than those with longer arms. That doesn't make them better football players. Upper body strength is MUCH less important to a lineman than legs. Odd that a football player doesn't know that. I've never heard of a high school team that has tryouts. Every one I know of, never cut. RB#24 - You lie too. No state allows organized practice the year round. Not ONE state allows any organized activity after the middle of December up until its allowable start date for spring practice, nor does any allow organized summer practices to start before the second week of August. Lifting's not an organized practice. It's a voluntary strength and conditioning program. You're not in high school anyway. You just got done playing Pop Warner. What do you know?
- Q: While at home today, I pressed my laptop screen. A small rippled area came around my finger where I pressed it. Why did this happen?
- God, you amaze me! this is honestly previous words. i think of i'm going to easily take a seat and watch the ripples for awhile, by using your image, this is. you write ideal words mutually with your digicam!
- Q: freedom of press
- How? When the press is always under the press being roll out and flatten too. How can it be free? When we have to empty our pockets for it too. What do you think?
- Q: I did not perm my hair for 3-4 months. The first time I permed my hair it was not 'fully' permed because when i washed it , it would become curly again. The hair dresser told me that since it was my first perm. When I did a touch up for the roots the person fully permed ONLY the roots. Can I still get my hair pressed so I can spike it ? What should I do to make it straight again. I'm not perming my hair again.I'm black btw.
