So, I purchased a motion sensor light switch to replace the regular switches at my new condo. I have the wires exposed and I've identified the hot wire. My only problem is the hot wire (from inside the wall) is a single thick copper prong, whereas the wire for the motion sensor is split into like 15 different small copper wires.... I don't think the thick, single wire from the wall will work with the twisting wire connectors I purchased.... Am I able to just put the wires together and duct tape them??
You need wire nuts, conical plastic pieces with wire helical cones inside them... which sounds like what you have already. (It is not allowed to crimp solid wire - it weakens the wire.) Wire nuts come in different sizes; you will want the orange ones. To use the wire nut, lay the stranded wire alongside the solid wire, both stripped back about 3/8 inch, give the pair a gentle twist with your fingertips, and twist the wire nut on them until it stops or gets pretty hard to twist. Give a test pull on each wire.
i know what spark plugs are but what are plug wires and the purpose of getting them. what do the plug wires do? someone told me that it was time to get spark plugs and plug wires replaced on my 2000 impala.
Spark plugs are part of the ignition system where a spark is created igniting the fuel in the cylinder of your car. Plug wires are electric wires that connect the coils high voltage electricity to the spark plugs. Spark plugs are usually replaced based on mileage on your car or if performance seems to be dropping. You might notice sluggishness on acceleration for example or a engine miss. Plug wires should be replaced if you noitice cracking in the insulation or if you have a problem not resolved by the plugs. Plug wires can be tested before replacing and i recomment just a good shop manual to do this. Plug wires do not replacing everytime you change spark plugs but only if damaged, cracking etc.
I recently purchased a used car already wired for an amplifier, however, when I looked at the wiring i found that the installer ran 8 gauge wire and then crimped it to a 12 gauge wire (with fuse) that connected to the battery is this bad? should i change it to 8 gauge? Or does it not matter?
As long as the middle of the wire is not grounding at all. You will be fine. You can run any size gauge wire as long as it connects at each end real good and gets a good connection. The best way instead of crimping anything at all is to get a 100amp fuse where one wire end goes into a slot on each side and a screw holds it tightly. You can run the eight gauge to one side and run the twelve out of the other and thats the best way and safest way to do it so you have no crimped hack jobs on it. -Shawn
ok so the passenger side back floorboard was getting wet and i believe the water to have corroded the wiring to my radio i've taken care of the water problem and know how to reconfigure the wiring but do i need to be worried about the security system while tinkering with the wiring see as how sensitive the security in these cars are i figured id check and see what you guys have to say about this pls also give resources as to how you know
If you are going to replace wire by wire , you can do that first unplug the battery and be very care full with orange and pink wires, try to solder the new wires the factory amplifier is in the trunk left side good luck new wiring is $700 from the dealer and the only place to buy it new good luck
how i do that?please help.
The injector wiring is easy to find. First remove the air cleaner and filter. Underneath you will see two walnut shaped metal items with two wires going to each of them. This is the injectors. If you wish to remove the wires, simply pinch the tabs together and pull up and the wiring comes loose. Be careful not to let the rubber bridge underneath drop down into the engine.
what size of wire do i need and is the new fuse box/trip box kept in garage.or where can i get wiring diagrams from
depends on what you want to do. the best thing to do is get the local building codes for your area and make sure you meet all the requirements. 14/2 is a good wire easy to use for 110v. Outlets, light switches. ect.
From one website I withdraw thru bank wire its 50 dollar fee. What ranges are it for bank wire? Internationally from private person to business.
The bank wire fee varies depending on the individual policies of the bank. Some banks charge for wiring, or receiving. Others charge of international wires. Still others may waive wire fees if you have a special relationship with the bank, such as a Premier Customer, or a senior citizen, etc. Check with your bank.
