- Q:So i changed the front pads of my sportbike..introduction: (at beggining the front brake lever was too low almost touching the handle to brake. When i changed the new pads, nothing really changed so i put a little top inside the regulation of the lever just to put it upper, so when i brake dont go too down )the problem. So after changing the pads, the bike got really braked, the wheel dont turn, and after a while it virtually stopped the bike too sudden, and got overheated on the disc rotors..i had to bleed them but after a little ride it happens again the bike brakes itself, and become really hard.the funny thing is that overnight the brakes got released itself and the wheel turns again.. until i brake a couple of times when it gets stucked again..What is it =(what i did wrong?whats the solution thanks!!mech experts 10 pts.
- Like someone else said. The piston is stuck in the bore of the caliper. Had a bike come thru a few days ago with the same issue. Duel caliper fronts and the left one frozen solid. Put 170psi of air to brake free. Nothing. 170psi should have shot that piston a cross the parking lot and down the street.
- Q:lets say that you're coming off the highway riding your motorcycle at 70 mph and you need to stop. Can you come to a full stop just by holding the cluth all the way and brake without downshifting? If so, do you have to hit down the shift lever 5 times in order to get into first gear, after you have already come to a complete stop?
- You are correct. You can just coast with the clutch pulled in and brake to stop. Once stopped you'll need to tap the lever all the way to first before taking off. here is the downside to that. Suppose the light turns green before you stop. Now you're coasting at 35MPH in 6th gear. If traffic is rolling behind you and you can't find the appropriate gear, safety becomes an issue. Or suppose you just came to your complete stop and some idiot in a car can't stop and is heading right for you? When every split second counts, you can't be fumbling around trying to find the gear. I prefer to match my gear with speed. at 70MPH I'm in 5th, 60 - 4th, 50 - 3rd, 30 to 40 - 2nd, then when I'm stopped I hit the last gear to first. I leave enough space between myself and the car in front of me for a safe escape if needed. EDIT: technodog is right. If you don't really know how to use engine braking, just do it regularly by coasting and using the brakes.
- Q:The battery is fine, the brake light works, the horn operates, but no front or back lights. The motorcycle does not have a start button as it is a kickstart and the lights are manually operated. I took the lights apart and they don‘t appear blown (and surely the back light can‘t be blown as it still lights as a brake light). What is wrong? Could a blown front light bulb prevent operation of the back light due to it being on the same circuit? Just wondering whether it is worth replacing the front bulbs before taking the damn thing apart. Please note: the motorbike does not have a Park function or anything like that. It was built in 1982.
- Seeing as you did not include the make of the motorcycle, I will assume it still has a fuse box . Usually under the seat, and at that age , you could have corrosion. Turn on your key , and with a test lamp check your fuses
- Q:I‘ve never driven one before, and I don‘t know anyone who drives one. Is there a moderately-priced place to learn in the Virginia Beach area?
- in case you are able to experience a motorbike a vehicle is hassle-free. Sorta like a vehicle is an airplane yet a motorbike is a helicopter. It takes extra skill to experience a motorbike. although a vehicle is extra substantial than a motorbike (yet no longer as exciting) because it retains you from the climate aspects. See video under for extra preparation
- Q:Why is the motorcycle before and after the brake control?
- Together with the control that would not work, such as when you turn around with the brake when it is easy to fall, the motorcycle is not like the car has four wheel stability is better, so the motorcycle should be separated before and after the brake is the truth
- Q:Can you add ABS braking to my motorcycle which is Honda VTX 1800.Is it advisable?
- wow so who know wtf a knoc sensor does? its there to retard the timing not advance it to prevent engine knock. engine knock in this case is spark knock wich will cause poor fuel ecomomy and could lead to engine failer. You need to get this fixed
- Q:My back brake sets off my brake light instantly with a tap. But my front brake doesn‘t set it off until its already stopped. I have to squeeze the handle extremely hard until I can get the light to turn on and by that time its no use. How do you adjust a front brake handle to make this more sensitive.
- If you look ON the handbrake part that you squeeze (it should be on the inside, in between the metal handbrake part and the grip/throttle that you hold onto), there should be a screw that you can adjust to adjust the firmness of the brake AND the brake light sensitivity. But as suggested, check with your manual, or your shop.
- Q:i have a mini motorcycle and lost the key and the hotwire thing worked but the pull start still has resistance due to the battery not actually being on.or maybe the battery is dead.but how do you dis able the battery and allow the bike to run on just the engine itself.all i need is the throttle and brakewhich are not electricthe lights and horn and all the other bull **** is just extra weight.and keep in mind it has not been started for about 2 years i think
- Resistance from the pull start mechanism has nothing to do with the battery. If you want to disable the battery just disconnect the cables to it. Some bikes have to have battery power for the ignition to work, don't know if your bike does because you did not state the most important information-type of bike you are refering to.
