Q: I recently purchased a 1981 yamaha seca 750 that nees new shoes on the rear brake. I am wondering if this is a tough thing to do and if I need to take the back tire off to do this?
I'm with Choppy Bear. If you attempt to perform this work without a manual and only use advice from an internet posting well.who's the fool? step one: GET A SHOP MANUAL step two: Read the SHOP MANUAL step three: Understand the SHOP MANUAL at this point if you do not understand the manual it would be appropriate to ask questions. step four: Follow the SHOP MANUAL Getting the picture?
Q: My lights were working fine a few days ago. Then I turned on my bike and noticed my running rear tail lights weren‘t on my bike is a 1995 Honda shadow vt1100. The only thing I notice is one of the signals(left) the wire got wedged between the bolt and fender rail leaving it exposed from wear and is metal on metal could this sole wire be the cause? If not where else should I check to trouble shoot?
Check your fuses and bulbs, also make sure all the wires are covered up and not shorting. You can normally visually see if a bulb has blown, by looking for a break in the connector wire inside the glass. You can also use a volt / multi-meter to test it.
Q: I have about 8600 mi on my FZ6 and the brakes are fine, but just wondering how to tell when they need to be replaced. I have heard that aftermarket pads make a big difference.
Most calipers allow you to look down on the top of the pads, if you can see a groove cut vertically down the pad your pads still have life in them (provided they are not contaminated or glazed). Sometimes aftermarket pads make a difference but there is no point in getting sintered race pads if you do not ride at those speeds, so choose with care and research.
Q: I disassembled and cleaned my brakes with a brake cleaner because one piston wasn‘t retracting and the brake was dragging. I just need to know what kind of grease or lub to use on the pistons. Hyosung GT250R.
Do not use anything other than brake fluid. Make sure the piston and bore are clean. Ever wonder what makes the piston retract? As it moves forward during braking it slides through the O ring seal causing it to twist . Upon release of the brake lever/pedal the O ring un twists and forces the piston back into the cylinder. This requires friction between the O ring and the piston. You can see why lubricants would be a bad idea. Good luck.
Q: Pedal motorcycle stepless speed principle, the main reason for the large fuel consumption is the drive system to reduce the efficiency, or what other reasons, thank you Xiangjie!
Sitting motorcycle fuel consumption is high, is a comprehensive problem, for example, improper adjustment of carburetor, crankcase oil viscosity is too large, the oil replacement interval pull too long; motorcycle front and rear brake adjustment improper, before and after the brake with Brake phenomenon; front and rear wheel bearing lubrication bad, running resistance; front and rear tire pressure is low; motorcycle overload; driving road conditions are poor, motorcycle resistance increases, frequent motorcycle start, etc., will cause motorcycle fuel consumption is too high.
Q: I‘m looking at buying a motorcycle and before i do i want to get my facts straight. i currently drive cars and am a defensive driver and have never had a crash. i don‘t speed and i am super responsible with never drinking and driving because a) it‘s super idiotic to do and b) i just don‘t like alcohol.if i get a bike i plan to get one with really good brakes, suspension and tyres and i will buy the best protective gear money can buy and go to defensive riding courses and other training courses.what percentage of motorcyclist deaths are caused by speeding, drunkenness, not being in a correct state of mind etc?also, i am thinking of getting a Kawasaki ninja 250r, are they a good/ safe bike?
The majority of single vehicle accidents involving motorcycles are due to speed – not necessarily going over the speed limit –?but inappropriate speed for the circumstances. I have read that the latest Ninja 250 models come with poor tyres but they are easy enough to replace.
