- Q: Hi!When we use floor(a) in MatLab, it's returned the biggest integer smaller than a.But when we type "floor a" or any other letter without parenthesys, another crazy integer is returned. Try "floor z", "floor r", etc., and you'll see. What does this integer mean?
- My guess is these letters have been assigned values as variables. Thy typing just z and see. (I'll admit I've never used MatLab so this is just a guess.)
- Q: I asked this question earlier, but only got one reply..so I deleted it and decided to ask again. Ok, my husband and I bought a nightclub a year ago. This place belonged to my uncle and he had a painted concrete floor as a dance floor and of course we still do. It use to be a car repair place and a cattle butcher place in the past, so the concrete is old, and has oil on it so the paint comes up not very long after you paint it. So..what are my options? Something relatively cheap to make the dance floor more inviting? I would love to know what to use to make it easier on the legs and easier to clean. Thank you!
- Yes, I have danced on concrete floor. Only for 1 month of my training. I'm not quite sure it was designed for dancing, but there was a layer of smooth wood surface glued directly on it. Long story short: very bad for your joints. Don't do it, if you're talking any kind of professional of semi-professional dancing. All the shock from every step you take gets absorbed in your joints, bones and muscles, there in no rebound from the floor. Dancing feels very different because of that, kind of dead. For a school dance, back in the days, it was just fine. Our school dance was always in a hall with a concrete floor. But it only happeded like twice a year, and you hardly make any actual steps when you dance like that. You kind of shake your body with the rhythm of music, the floor doesn't matter so much.
- Q: I have a hardwood kitchen floor.
- My sister has hardwood floors and swears by her shark steam mop. After a regular mopping, you can wipe the floor with a damp paper towel and it still comes up gray. But after steam mopping, you won't find any traces of dirt. I wish I had heard of it back when I had hardwood floors....
- Q: Live in a Condo, with someone under me, can i nail down the wood floor without damages tenant under me, the floor is squeaking real badly.
- On a home show, I saw a squeaky floor fix. He screwed the plywood into studs in the floor. He was very careful selecting the screw size and to not hurt the carpet. He made sure he found the studs in the floor first. I think it was Bob Villa.
- Q: I ate a cookie of the floor yesterday. It was on the floor for about 1 min. Will i die! i'm kind of a germ freak and i'm worried!~riley!
- You definately wont die.lol. Ive eaten food that has fallen on the floor alot of times felt the same as if i would'nt have eaten it.Dont worry about it nothing will happen.
- Q: is there any chemical/solution to remove acid stains from floors?please help me.
- Flooring is one of the important aspect which add beauty to your home/building. Marble makes a luxurious material for floors, walls, countertops and mantels. This porous material tends to absorb stains from liquids and oils that have come in contact with it. Certain liquids, such as juice or wine, may contain certain acids that, once absorbed, leave an unsightly and harmful stain in the marble. Applying a poultice treatment will pull the stain back out of the pores of the marble and remove the stain. This low-maintenance treatment will restore your marble surface to its original shine. Good Luck...
- Q: Can you lay down ceramic floor tiles over existing natural wood flooring? And if so, do you have to strip down the wood flooring first?
- you really should pull the vinyl up, even if it's a hassle, because it could buckle in the future and affect your tile work. Go to your home store and see if they have a solvent that will loosen the adhesive holding the vinyl down, then scrape it all up. Hopefully it will be concrete underneath and not another layer of vinyl (happened to us in a kitchen once). Clean it really well, then do your tiling. Be sure to use the correct adhesives and grouts. There is also a sealer you can use that will insure the grout never stains, something *she* will appreciate when she never has to get on the floor with a toothbrush to clean out the muck between the tiles. :) Good luck and happy holidays!
- Q: I just installed 450 sq ft. of laminate flooring. I did not level the floor properly and now Im finding a high point in the center of the room. Each time I walk around the high point, the floor drops a little. Is it possible to fix this without tearing up the floor. can I drill a hole and shoot some type of epoxy under the padding to prevent the floor from dropping when I step on it? Sounds crazy...but I want my floor to last. Boy did I screw up!
- Is your floor a floating floor? Is your sub floor concrete or plywood? I know it's a pain in the you know what. However if you want the floor to last and you want it done right you must take op the floor. Some might say just take it up to the point of the low spot. However if the low spot is bad enough to cause noticeable movement you should take it all up and float the floor if its concrete. If the floor is plywood you would either need to replace the warped sheet possibly try and screw down the pucker if there is sufficient floor joist under the swell. I feel your pain. I just installed flooring in two rooms in our home. The second room had a crack in the slab that appeared after the house was leveled. That was a chore all on its on. Good luck to you.
- Q: Is floor(x k) = floor(x) floor(k)?
- yes it is fallowing the distributive property
- Q: what is sea floor spreading
- Sea floor spreading happens at mid-oceanic ridges. It is one way that the plate tectonics theory is explained - why the continents move. What happens is that due to convection (hot material rising from the mantle to the surface, cooling off, then falling down in a cycle) pushes the oceanic crust apart at the ridge, allowing molten material to come to the surface, then cool when it comes in contact with the ocean, forming new oceanic crust. This also simultaneously on the other side of the plate causes subduction, in which one plate goes under the other, turning the oldest oceanic crust back into magma as it melts into the mantle. This animation might help: education.sdsc.edu/optiputer/flas... It's a difficult concept to explain without drawing a picture or something. Good luck!
