Q: I was wondering how shark steam mop performed on carpets. does it remove stains and spots?
I don't own one, but they appear to be designed for hard flooring such as tile and linoleum. There's only a cloth at the bottom where the steam passes through. I think you'd really be struggling trying to use one on carpet. A better alternative would be a carpet cleaner, Bissell and Hoover are both good brands. Expect to pay $150-300 and up. But for a budget, I love the Little Green Machine by Bissell which is much smaller. Don't try to clean an entire carpeted area with it or you'll be exhausted! But it's great for cleaning upholstery and for picking up spills on carpet, and doesn't take up a lot of storage space. Costs around $100 and you can get it at WalMart and many other retailers. Then if you need to do your whole carpet, you can rent an extractor for around $25 (check with your local supermarket, they probably rent Rug Doctor, etc.). You can get the job done in a day and not have a bulky machine taking up valuable closet space the rest of the year.
Q: I'm buying a house and need to replace the carpet currently in it. I can't get an estimate on it until I close so I'm looking to get a ball park number. I need to replace about 800 sqft. What price am I looking at to get wood laminate put in verus mid-grade carpet. Thanks.
A mid grade carpet (3$ a s/f) will go in at 2400$ +- .. And laminates 2.5 a s/f for the laminate 2$ a s/f for installation. This will be about 3600$. Now the carpet price can be done at that price for a regular residential carpet and standard pad ( 5 1/2 # minimum) that will hold your warranties. Now these prices won t include any rip out and removal of the existing carpet or un seen floor prep. You may be able to get rip out included if some one wants the work, because of the economy.. Or save your self money by getting a beer and or pizza pal to help you for a day and rip out the carpet yourself.. Any flooring questions you can e mail me through my avatar.. GL
Q: Hey guysSo i threw up on a living room rug, the kind that goes under a coffee table, and it's been sitting there in my backyard for a while. I know i can't get the stain out myself, so i was wondering, how much would it cost to get the rug professionally cleaned? I need to clean it. I don't need to know exact prices, just like, an average carpet cleaning price. Thanks alot guys
Well I had a huge rug 13 ft X 10 ft and it cost me $250.00, it was the king they pick up and clean and bring back. But Im sure you can get the stain out yourself. I raised 2 kids and a grandbaby and I have many times. You got a couple of options; You can take it outside and hose it down with the water hose and let it dry, it will dry faster if you drape it over a fence or car or picnic table. Or you can get carpet cleaners like Resolve in any store, I have used the one a dollar tree and I think it works just as well, Id vacuume it as well as I could first, spray foam either all over or just on the spot and rub a wet wash cloth or rag or sponge over it until it comes clean. Its alot cheaper and faster than professionals. But if you want to you probably could get a company to come out and steam clean it on your floor for about $99.00.
Q: Im a single mum of three and a student so you can probably guess that i don't have alot of money!I went to a carpet store and they said that i could carpet a room using felt back carpet which the fitters can use glue to put down because felt back carpets don't require underlay.right now that seems to be my only option.i just wanted to know if anyone has a carpet that doesn't have any underlay and if is worth doing it??
For the best answers, search on this site https://shorturl.im/awSTS Just to make sure you don't get confused by responses of other answerer's. No, you may not install wall to wall carpeting over a laminate floor. It would be a mess and a headache you don't want. It's a floating floor it's not attached to the floor pick up the laminate and foam and throw it away. Loose lay or double faced tape idea is the only option to leave laminate in place if for some reason it's a have to situation that I can truly understand. Your manufacture's warranty's are in place for a reason. To give you a length of time to expect your carpeting to last. With proper installation methods. Including a wear warranty and texture retention warranty. Both of those would be void if the carpet is not installed with a minimum 6 lb density foam pad for cut pile carpet or 20oz felt pad for looped carpet over a stable substrate. Unless of course it is installed using a gluedown method with an adhesive. I don't believe you would be able to find a glue that would adhere to the laminate surface without being really toxic. Good Luck with your project it will be worth it in the end. Both Shaw and Mohawk's websites would be helpful to you in making your selections and getting information. You can also check with the Carpet and Rug Institute's website for more information.
Q: My landlord recently replaced my nasty old carpet, but this new one isn't that great either. It got flat almost immediately, granted we also have kids, and I want to fluff it back up but I haven't been very successful. I sweep it after I vacuum so I can get it soft and fluffy but it takes ALOT of work and doesn't last for more than a couple of hours. Anybody know how to help?
A good sweeper with a stiff roller brush will raise the nap of a carpet as it cleans it. But even this doesn't last very long. The carpet fibers get weakened by foot traffic and that becomes known as the traffic pattern across a carpet. Don't expect quality carpet from a landlord. ( Can you blame them? ) Best thing is not to worry about the carpet showing wear. Also the pad underneath the carpet has an effect on how the piece of carpet lays and wears. The more you attempt to make the carpet fluffy, the worse it will become.
Q: ok so these might be stupid questions but.. can cooler rugs:a)be used under other rugs?b) be left on the horse when out in his field to stay clean?c)be usesd as an anti sweaet rug?d)be usesd as a travel rug?e) be usesd as a stable rug?thanks!!
well i never heard that it will cool a horse so but give it a try!And also it is a travel rug i read it on line right now and that it will keep the horse cool on his foot/legs
Q: What is composite carpet
Textile or fabric adhesive rubber pad, this rubber mat surface bond adhesive textile or fabric, the other surface of the convex particles adhering to the composite carpet, the characteristics of it are that its surface has textile or fabric base rubber pad
Q: New carpeting was just laid in the place I just moved into, and it smells like there's mold either in the carpeting or padding, I'm not sure which. I'm guessing it's the carpeting.Does anyone know if a solution of white non-sudsing ammonia would kill the mold?If not is there anything I can do about it without having to call in a professional?
Spreading Mule Team Borax tends to slow and even kill mold spores, while being gentle on carpet fabric. The key is to act quickly making every effort to stop this hazard of mold in one's house.
Q: sooo... i just caught my husband cheating on me with the maid down tthe street so i ran out of them room and grabbed my samuri sword and ran back and chopped that b*tch in half. but i accidentally went all the way through her and chopped off my husbands penis too. so this b*tch was bleeding all over my carpet and i was getting pissed cause she was screaming so i chopped her head off. and that killed her. but then my husband wouldnt stop screaming cause his penis was just lying there... and he was really annoying me so i chopped his head off too, so then i stuffed their bodies in my hefty garbage bags and they're sitting in my freezer in the garage, but now theres blood all over my fuc*ing persian rug and i'm really agitated.
Well,aren't you just lovely.
Q: I need to shampoo my carpets but I want the best results possible. I know that the rug doctor is a commercial rug shampooer but do you think it has the same results as a professional coming in to clean them or would I get the same reults doing it myself?
If okorder / . It has the best, top qulity, brand name products at a great price. If you clean your carpets often I would recommend buying a cleaner. But if you don't a little mom and pop vacuum shop sometimes will rent out better machines.
