Q: We are getting the carpet throughout the house redone. We had planned on a high quality laminate, but apparently our floors slope too much for that. Now we have to go with carpet. I fear a berber throughout will look too industrial, not homey enough. My husband feels like flush style looks like apartments he had in the 70s. Q: how do you get red stains off the carpet?: Depending on how big your house is, it can take about half a day to steam clean wall to wall carpeting. Most companies will be able to work around furniture, but obviously it's better if you can move as much furniture as possible so that the cleaners can clean as much carpet as possible. You'll want to open up your windows after the carpet cleaning has been done to air out your rooms (and with this heat, to quicken up the drying time). If you are talking about cleaning hand made rugs, then cleaning is done off site and you generally have to wait 2-3 weeks for the professional cleaners to return your carpet.

Q: How often is the average for replacing living room or bedroom carpet, I know it depends on the traffic, etc but just wondering averages and when is it time to replace instead of having it cleaned: Carpet when not cleaned won t last but 5/6 years or less if you have a cheaper carpet.. Its suggested that you have it professionally cleaned at least once a year to make it last. Better made carpets when cleaned regularly will last 12/15 years. Or should I just hire a carpet cleaning company to do it?It was like a $70 difference in price. Trying to save money where we can. Thanks!: I use the Rug Doctor all the time. I have two dogs so keeping up with them requires really good professional cleaning equipment. I rent mine from the local IGA grocery store and only pay $15-$20 a day for it. It works so beautifully that as soon as I can come up with an extra $700.00 in pocket I intend to buy one. I love the Rug Doctor machine and it hold up very well to my 75lb german shepherd and sheltie. You will be amazed at how much dirt and grime it pulls out of the carpet. Every bit worth the $15-20 a day rental fee. You will not be sorry! I love it so much, I have used it on a multitude of other properties as well.

Q: i am trying to find out how much it will cost about to put carpet in an average size room approx13 by 17. i just want middle of the roead carpet, but does anyone have a guess?: I just went carpet shopping today and found that for two rooms that measure approx. 26ftx 16ft that it will cost almost $900. Traditional carpet is not really in my budget, so I was thinking carpet tiles, I really have no idea about them so all the info will help. If you have hardwoods, you can ruin them with carpet tiles. Otherwise, I have carpet tiles in my attic, which is my kids bedrooms. I went with that style intentionally because they love anime and we went with an Asian decor. Here is where I also admit that the builders put in a sub-floor for us and gave us the carpet tiles for free...lol I love them. One of my husbands friends is a very handy person and helps with all the DIY, so he helped to lay them. There are no seams and I think they are perfect. Carpet companies usually have some carpet that they will sell for cheap. We had them lay a plaid carpet in our basement because it was good quality, but wasn't selling because its plaid. I love it. Its off white with navy and black lines. Perfect for our exercise room, my sewing room.and under the pool table. Made us get blue felt for the pool table and I think it's beautiful. Check with them.

Q: I am Thinking of using the carpet large sqauers you can but at lowes. Any one use them and are you happy or not?: It's probably cheaper to have real carpet installed. I've heard that these things can shift over time, and many times you can see that they're squres (the seams).

Q: I have a puppy that is a year old and she still isn't fully potty trained(shes a lot better than she used to be, but still has accidents) plus i have a toddler and normally have many other children here- leaving spills and stains. So for the past year I have used my carpet shampooer A LOT but am now concerned that it may have mold under it or in the padding. my mother keeps telling me they aren't a good thing to use and they will create mold.
