Q:i have 4 wires going to a ac unit #10 wires 2 wires for each cir. and i need to know how many amps can I run with 2 #10 copper for one side of the breaker
10 gauge wire is rated for 30 amps unless its a long run. I'm not sure I'm picturing the right setup you're proposing in your description but if you're talking about having two 'hot' wires and two 'neutral wires' clamped together at both ends its a bad idea. It would make sense that you could run 60 amps through the wire if it was doubled up like that but because of [science] it doesn't work like that. Not to mention any electrician or inspector would be drawing exclamation points on their notepad if they saw a setup like that. If you need to run more than 30 amps just buy lower gauge wire.
Q:Wire 1 and wire 2 are made from the same metal. Wire 2 has a larger diameter than wire 1. The electric field strengths E1 and E2 are equal. A) Compare the values of the two current densities. Is J1 greater than, less, or equal to J2?B) Compare the values of the currents I1 and I2. Is I1 greater then, less or equal to I2?
The current will be more dense in the smaller wire. The value of the current is inversely proportional to the resistiance of the wire. Resistance = resistivity * length / Area since the wires are of identical material and length, the only thing left to vary is the cross-sectional area. Area is proportional to the square of the radius (diameter), so the current will be proportional to the square of the diameter. I2 is proportional to I1^2 I2 is larger than I1 .
Q:I need to get to the audio wiring
you cannot simply go with matching the colors factory radios have extra wires that are not needed with an aftermarket install most of the time (wires that control the dimmer on the radio, speed sensitive volume) you will need three power wires (constant, ignition, and ground), plus your speaker wires use a test light to test your wires, usually at the radio the yellow wire is your constant, the red is your ignition, and black is always ground to find your constant use the test light, it will be hot at all times so that your radio can remember the time, and your settings- next you need your ignition, it is only hot when the key is on or in the accessory position, to tell the radio when to come on- the ground is self explanatory to find which wires go to what speakers all you need is a 9v battery, put the positive end to a wire and test all of the other wires to the negative side and you will hear a crackling noise from a speaker when you have the right combination
Q:I have a audiofonics adf-240 and I want to wire it to 1 ohm
To wire an amp to a certain ohm load depends on the speakers..... not the amp .... the amp just has to be stable at the ohm load you wire the speakers to.....but there's your next problem , that amp is NOT 1 ohm stable.... Its 2 ohm stereo and 4 ohm bridged stable.
Q:the fused ignition wire and illumination wire, i cant figure out where they go on a Dual stereo system model1225 Help. ( on a 1990 ranger )
the ignition wire is going to be a yellow with a black stripe(car wire) and the instruction manual will tell you for the head unit illumination wire i just taped up since my head unit didnt require it =) like they say...if it turns on it dont need it
Q:Besides the speaker wires, what do the remaining 5 colored wires stand for on a stock 03 Mitsubishi Galant radio?
2003 Mitsubishi Galant Car Stereo Radio Wiring Diagram Car Radio Constant 12v+ Wire: Red/Black Car Radio Switched 12v+ Wire: Blue Car Radio Ground Wire: Chassis Car Radio Illumination Wire: Green/White Car Stereo Dimmer Wire: Black/Yellow Car Stereo Antenna Trigger: N/A Car Stereo Amp Trigger Wire: N/A Car Stereo Amplifier Location: N/A Front Speakers Size: N/A Front Speakers Location: N/A Left Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Blue Left Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Black/Blue Right Front Speaker Positive Wire (+): White/Red Right Front Speaker Negative Wire (-): Black/Red Rear Speakers Size: N/A Rear Speakers Location: N/A Left Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Yellow/Blue Left Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Gray/Blue Right Rear Speaker Positive Wire (+): Yellow/Red Right Rear Speaker Negative Wire (-): Gray/Red
Q:Why is thin strand wire better for powering car audio?
Thin strand wire is more flexible and so stands up to the flexing and vibration in a car application better. May not be an issue in the short term, but over time the thinner strand should hold up better
Q:i already tried wiring this light, but it didn't work. I always thought black wire to black, white to white and ground to ground. i connected the light fixture black wire to the three black wires (as shown in image) and the light fixture white wire to the three white wires, and connected ground wires together.when i flipped on the breaker, the light came on with the switch on off and the breaker tripped. i'm assuming this is wrong and i provided an image as i see in my ceiling mount. Can somebody kindly direct me how to properly connect the light fixture to these wires. thanks!
This should have worked. Any chance you have one of the black wires touching the side of the box or one of the white or ground wires? If the fixture that was removed worked before the new one should work now. Also check that one of the screws holding the fixture didn't touch one of the black wires when you tightened it. .
Q:i am installing a headunit, i connected all the wires the match, but i have some left over that i am confused about. from the wires that plug into the radio there is the antenna wire, the remote wire, and the ground with a washer to screw it down, and from the other is set of wires is a solid orange wire, which i have no idea where it goes to. so i connected the remote to the orange wire and didn't hook up the antenna to anything, and bolted down the ground wire. I'm wondering why i have 2 ground wires, and what the orange wire is and what do i connect to it?
if its basically static, your audio gadget are effective, verify that not one of the wires are touching, whether its basically one + touching a - the entire gadget will sound undesirable (different than for the sub which gets its sign from a different source. verify at the back of the cd participant and in case you're able to desire to get rid of each and each speaker a million by using a million.
Q:I am trying to install an outside motion activated light fixture, there is a box with a yellow wire that did not have power... I found a white wire with power and joined it to the yellow wire...and after installing the fixture (white wire to white wire, black wire to black wire) my fixture is not turning on... uld it be because of the two kind of wires??
This does not sound like a conventional setup that meets code. There are two ways to connect switched power to a box. The first is to do the switching before the box, in which case you should see one black, one white, and one bare copper wire (ground) coming out of the box. You would hook your fixture as follows: black to black, white to white, and green and bare to the box. The second configuration has the wires from the switch joining the power wires (black, white, ground) in the box. In this case, the black wire should always be hot, no matter what position the light switch is in. The wires from the switch should be the same as from the circuit: black, white and bare copper (ground). What you describe sounds very suspicious, unsafe, and not to code. Unless you are very familiar with safe electrical practices and residential wiring, I suggest you call in an electrician to troubleshoot the problem and correct it.
