- Q: I have a 5 pin ignition. I have Black and red wire coming from behind the starter.Yellow wire on the other side of the engine that is connected to the magnet by the fly wheel.Where do I put these wires in the ignition switch. ____ ____ __
- You need to hook three wires into a five terminal switch? You aren't helping us much with any usable information. The yellow wire is the kill wire from the magneto. The black and red wires are hot from the battery and feed to the starter solenoid, assuming the switch has a start position. You need to check each terminal on the switch with an ohm meter to determine which function it serves and test the black and red wires with a volt meter to determine which one is hot now. Better still, why don't you specify the make and model, even the serial number if you can get it, and ask if anyone, including your local dealer, has a wiring diagram for that particular machine.
- Q: what does a #12 copper wire look like and waht does a #14 wire look like if you got pictures post a link thanks
- To most of us, they look identical. However, #12 is slightly thicker and heavier than #14. In a home, #12 is often used for electrical outlets, #14 for lighting circuits (lights/switches). To view/feel the difference, visit a local Ace/Lowes/HomeDepot as a visual picture--unless magnified--will not capture the difference.
- Q: I am replacing a regular light switch with a more fashionable looking design. When I took out the old light switch there was a red and a black wire attached. I am used to white and black. Which wire is considered the white wire when I am wiring this switch?
- It depends on how they ran the power to the switch. In a standard circuit, white is the neutral. In the switch leg, where you are working, there is no neutral. They can use any wires for a switch except green. You had seen black and white because those are the colors in a 2 conductor Romex cable. This may be a 3 conductor which has red, white, and black. In any case, each of the 2 loose wires go on one of the the brass screws of the switch, and the ground if there is one goes on the green. Some electricians will tape the white wire if it's used in a switch leg to indicate that it's not a neutral. Hope this helps.
- Q: Is there really a difference between audio wire and regular house wire? If you say yes then please explain, in understandable scientific terms why, or point me to a site that can.
- House Wire
- Q: Can anyone give me some info or a website with info on which type of wire carries sound waves best?
- Wire does not carry soundwaves, at least not unless the ends of the wire have tin cans on them, and the wire is pulled taut between them! Wires can carry electrical signals which can be used to reproduce the sounds that caused them. This is how sound comes from such as your stereo system's speakers. Maybe that's what you actually mean? If so, copper wires (insulated, of course) are what you want, and if the distance you run the wires is great, the heavier the wire (gauge) the better. If you are transmitting high power to speakers, the wires have to be capable of handling the electrical current involved.
- Q: i need to make a battery powered light bulb and i have copper wire at home...will it work?
- You must use insulated wire.
- Q: Electron flow in a conducting wire.?I have some confusion regarding the flow of electrons in a wire when voltage is applied across it. Intuitively, i see that when i apply voltage across the ends of the wire say by a battery. The voltage pushes the electrons in the wire. As, a result the electrons flow in straight direction rather than going zig-zag. Some of the electrons reach the positive terminal of the battery, now my query is what happens when the electrons reach the positive terminal.Do they loose all their energy? Also, how is there a constant flow of electrons in the wire because since electrons are flowing constantly from the negative to the positive, is there no instance all the free electrons in the wire have reached the positive terminal? Basically what i mean to say is do the free electrons ever gets extinct? I am sorry if my question sounds stupid but can anyone please explain me a little bit in a conceptual manner?
- Well, the wire is connected to a voltage source. When they leave the positive terminal, they go through the wire, then get to the negative terminal. They then flow through the voltage source and back into the wire.
- Q: Why would I want to upgrade the wires on my airsoft gun? What does it do?
- do no longer replace something in simple terms purchase a gun with a metallic gearbox, i comprehend i sound harsh yet your in simple terms dropping your money by using changing the full finished gearbox on a bad externally and internally gun.
- Q: I accidently spilled soda all over a bunch of wires and controllers. I cleaned the controllers off and they're not sticky, but what should i do about the wires?
- Unplug any wires that are plugged in. Fold a damp sponge around each wire, and wipe it down. Make sure it's dry before plugging it back in. No big deal.
