- Q: I have a kitten but I went out of town and my parents kept it at their house. When I got home I was swarmed with fleas. I have fogged my house three times and there seems to be less but they are still there. I don't what else to do besides hire a professional but I don't have the money to pay one. I also understand I need to spray outside but it continues to rain.
- You need to treat the kitten with Frontline or what ever your vet recommends. Use a vet approve spot on treatment every month from now on. This will help resolve your current problem and prevent future infestations. You have to vacuum everyday for several weeks and fog again after a few days as needed. It can take several weeks to resolve a bad flea infestation. There are four stages of fleas in your carpet. Eggs, Larvae, Pupae, and Adult. The foggers only works on eggs, larvae and adult. The pupae is the hardest stage to kill. The fleas are in a protective cocoon and pesticide does not bother them. They will wait inside the cocoon for months until they sense vibration and heat which tells them a food source is near by (you). By vacuuming everyday you create vibration and heat in the room. This causes them to hatch out an be exposed to the pesticide residue left by your fogging. Instead of fogging you might consider just using a can of flea spray that you manually spray on the carpet. You can then target hard to get areas like under the bed or furniture that the fog might not get to. You can also avoid areas like your clothes and dishes that you might not want to get pesticide all over. Just be sure it is labeled as a flea spray that kills fleas and eggs.
- Q: What careers are involved in with Gardening? Can you answer these please ASAP!!
- yes there are several careers opportunities are available in gardening field mostly in horticultural industry for those who love spending hours in the garden...The gardening industry offers a range of opportunities for growing a career. There are groundskeepers, landscapers, landscape architects, arborists, horticulturists, and greens keepers, just to name a few. Many in these industries are employed by companies, but a strong number are also small business owners who have gone on to open their own home garden centers, florist shops or landscaping service companies. The average wage for most landscaping and gardening jobs ranges from about $10 an hour for entry level jobs, on up to $18 an hour for more senior positions....!!
- Q: I would like to plant some clover in my flower garden because I want to plant a vegetable garden next year, but I have some questions about it. 1.) When can I plant the clover? I'd like to till the soil and then plant the clover before winter starts.2.) What kind of clover should I plant?3.) And any other advice you could give me would be great :) This is my first vegetable garden all on my own. Thanks!
- Clover are often used as cover crops between annual vegetable harvests or on the floor of orchards to help fix nitrogen and enrich the soil. In garden beds, till red clover under or add it to the compost pile before you plant annual vegetables or flowers. Use white clover in orchards, especially if you have low-grazing animals to fertilize the orchard, such as ducks, chickens, geese, rabbits or goats. Plant clover in the spring or early summer, when the ground has become soft and moist from the spring rains. You may also plant in September or early October in most locations. Clover seed is very small, so you may want to mix it with lime or fertilizer to give you more substance to work with. Do not use a strong fertilizer on clover, as it can burn the plant's thin roots.
- Q: I just moved here from GA, and I'm looking for REALLY inexpensive furnishings/decorations. I live in Cambridge so I'd like to find stores close by, but really I'll drive anywhere if I can find things really cheaply. Thanks!
- Garden Ridge went bankrupt. I'm not sure of an Old Time Pottery, but try Target. They are inexpensive and very modern and nice. You could also try Walmart. They have a nice selection of things I think you're looking for. I get things there for our garden all the time.
- Q: I want to grow a garden this year and I know bugs/insects will most likely attack my fruits and vegetables. What are some natural products that I can spray on my fruits and veggies to protect them? I don't really want to use any harmful chemicals. I'm already planning to buy granules that keep ants away that I will set around the garden but I have more than just ants to worry about so anything natural/organic to repel all these unwanted pests would be great if you guys can help. Thank you.

- Q: I plan on starting a good sized garden where I will grow as many vegetables as I can. This will be to save money on groceries, eat healthier (since they'll all be just right there), and with whatever excess I'll take to the farmers market for other people to enjoy, while at the same time trying to pay for my garden investment! So I'm hoping in the following years the pay off will be saved money on groceries, learned a lot, got exercise, and maybe make a little supplemental funds on the side to pay for bills and such, but at first to pay for the garden itself....
- A garden is a wise investment but a home garden posing as a market garden will end up costing you money as it costs money to set up at a farmers market not to mention you will need a vehicle that can haul the produce, coolers, tables, table cloths, a shelter, bags, etc., for selling the stuff at market. Not to mention that growing a market garden is very very different from growing a home garden and if you have never grown a garden before you will do best to start small-no more than 10' x 10' which will not leave you enough food to sell. But it also will not overwhelm you with all the work. A decent market garden at minimum will take around 4 hours daily plus the 5 or 6 hours you spend at market And despite what most people think, just because you have some produce at a farmers market people do not automatically flock to your stand and buy out all your stuff. It takes years to develop a customer base and most people unless they have studied how to grow far market, know how to put in and maintain a market garden (the first thing for a successful market garden is the fact you start planting in April and don't stop until July) and are great at marketing. And even these people will gross less than $300 a week (and net around $100 out of that $300). But most people are doing well to gross $50 a week at farmers market their first year. All that said it is fun to do markets, you will meet a lot of people, just don't expect much from them until you grow over an acre and can sell every week.
- Q: I'm a naturist, I stay naked in my home, defecate in my garden and eat local animals... Why the complaints?
- You should wear a metal chastity device to show your neighbors you have no intention on using your penis.
- Q: I have a small garden space it is a little garden area with a foot wide stone path running through it, so it is like two separate garden areas. I wanted to plant green beans, tomatoes, cucumbers, okra, lettuce bell peppers, celery, and potatoes along with a few herbs that I would plant inside on the widow ledge in a planter (thyme, rosemary, basil, sage, mint, chives). How should I arrange them? What plants go well as companion plants to these? What other plants climb upwards to maximize my small garden space? I want to have enough of these for my roommate and I to share with a little extra left over. That being said how many of eat plant should I put into my garden?
- I am just starting a small garden in my backyard, check out my website, it might help you with some ideas... backyardfarm101.blogspot.ca/ Hope it helps!, C
- Q: i love dogs but i dont have a garden any idea what i can do?
- You could volunteer at a shelter if you want to spend time with dogs. Or choose a small breed that doesn't need a lot of space to run about. As long as there is an area nearby where you are allowed to let it go potty there shouldn't be problem.
- Q: cheapest, yet reliable and dependable,,,,,about one acre garden
- Softened water shouldn't be used to water a garden. Softened water contains salt. This salt can disrupt the osmosis that delivers water to the plants. I would get a standard water softener but split apart your water system so your garden water isn't softened. If you need to vary the pH in your garden, there are a variety of methods for doing this. Any garden center should be able to help you.
