Q: Me and my wife just finished moving in to our first home and we want to have a vegetable garden next Summer. Problem is we both know absolutely NOTHING about gardening. Neither of us ever did any growing up, nor did our parents really do much either.I was hoping the community here could give some good tips to help us get started. We a do not have a ton of space, probably from a rough estimate I did a minute ago 12x50 at the max and that would need to include walking space since most of it is our side yard. We also live in Ohio so winter will need to be accounted for. If possible we would really like to do tomatoes and I have heard we may be able to grow them off the side of our garage saving us some space, and zucchinis would also be nice! Outside those we are open to any suggestions.Anyways if anyone has helpful websites, step by step guides, general tips, advice on fertilizers or pesticides to use/not use all of it is appreciated, since as I said we are completely ignorant on this subject!
According to me you take the guidance of special companies which provides healthy foods for public and good in this field.
Q: My mom has that better homes and gardens cookbook (its old i think) and she always uses the easy baked beans recipe for Christmas but some how the page got ripped out and lost. If anyone has this cookbook could you please give me the recipe. It is on p.785 and she says its just called quot;easy baked beansquot; Thanks so much!
Easy Baked Beans Source: Better Homes Gardens 4 slices bacon 1/2 c chopped onion 2 (1-pound) cans pork and beans 2 T brown sugar 1 T Worcestershire sauce 1 t prepared mustard Preheat oven to 325° F. Cook bacon until crisp; drain, reserving 2 tablespoons drippings. Crumble bacon. Cook onion in drippings until tender; add with bacon to beans, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and prepared mustard; mix well. Bake uncovered in 1-1/2 quart casserole for 1-1/2 to 1-3/4 hours. Makes 6 servings
Q: We have a Hoover T Series that I like, but it get clogged/dirty really easily. Hoover themselves told me that my model was not made for pet hair (we have a huge Maine Coon and another cat that sheds too). I bought a used/refurbished Dyson DC07 (oldie but goodie I had experience with since my mom has 2). It has begun losing suction and both of these just kick dirt everywhere. The button to change from hard floor to carpet broke on my Hoover so its useless for tile now.I was told Sanitaire is about the best and cheapest commercial grade that I can get. My Granny has had her Kirby (I think classic) since forever and has not had one issue with it. My husband wants a Kirby but we have only 300 or below to spend, that's it. My local vacuum shop only wants to sell me a Ricaar and I know those are good, but I don't have Ricaar money. What should I buy?
Although I myself have a Dyson, the Shark brand advertises to be better then the Dyson Animal at half the cost. There's the Shark Navigator Upright Bagless Vacuum with Premium Pet Accessories, NV22L and the Shark Rotator Professional Upright Vacuum, NV400. Walmart has them both at $130 and $200.
Q: Is the Better Homes and Garden's pink Breast Cancer edition the same as the regular edition? I want all the information in the original, but I like the pink one, so i wanted to make sure I'm not going to be missing any information!

Q: Some part of my home garden is covered with ground covering plants (some type of ivy with networked roots). The garden is full of weeds and small trees. If I use Preen or other type of chemicals, can I get rid of weeds? I'm thinking removing all the ground covering and weeds, and cover the area with mulch. If there is a way to have ground covering with weeds well controlled, I may try it. I appreciate your input.
Mulch can help. But there is no final solution to weeds. They'll come back eventually. If you pull them regularly, they will lose energy, and be less vigorous. If you wait until they're everywhere, they have strong roots, they may have already set seed, and your battle becomes much harder. Preen interferes with seeds germinating. It does nothing against weeds that are growing from existing roots, like ivy. If your garden is a veggie garden, after you put it to bed this fall, cover it with cardboard. It will smother weeds, and by spring, you'll find almost NO weeds popping up. The cardboard will have degraded enough that you can just dig trhough it and plant things. It will be like heavy wet paper. Plant your plants. Mulch. Pay attention to weeds that pop up and get them early.
Q: It had things in it like wooden shelves and boyds bear blankets and home decor. I would like to know the name of the company
Home and Garden Party?
Q: Im a plumbing heating tech and would like to share my knowledge
Look at Home Garden, I think you'll find what you want there
Q: What is this cotton spread , the cheap kind ,stuff growing in my yard?is I fungus , also these mushroom are growing , but back to the other stuff when I wet it the water look like diamond , beads o water , also when it drys it looks like cotton , it's piping up everywhere little stops in the yard
You could either dig some up or photograph it take it to your county ag dept or to a nursery where you shop or are willing to shop. In fact, call them find out if you could send the photo by Internet. Likewise, if there's a garden program on the radio, maybe you could call them or email them via the stations website send in the photo. Also, there may be a Master Gardener's program in your county. Since they're supposed to volunteer for a certain number of service hours after their master gardening course, one of them may be available for questions.
Q: Does anyone know any home remedies to keep bugs out of my flower/rose garden? I don't know what kind of buds the are BUT they are eating the leaves flowers.
