Q: I am looking to buy a good, inexpensive hand-held vacuum cleaner for a friend who lives in a dorm at college. Her room doesn't have any carpeting (except for a rug), but the floor is not very clean. I know a lot of the ones I have looked at on the Target and Walmart sites are around $20. Are they any good? Which brand(s) do you prefer, and where can I find them? Please be specific! Thanks!
I work in a vacuum sales/repair shop and I believe the Dirt Devil classic or ultra vac are your best choices. They are bagless/bagged units. They are NOT cordless. They only corless I sell, is a high power unit for about $70. The DD will run about 40-60.
Q: Why don't they make gasoline powered vacuum cleaners?
There are diesel powered vacuum cleaners. Unlike gasoline engines, diesel engines do not make carbon monoxide. What I like best about my John Deere Acu-vac2000 is the there is no power cord to trip over.
Q: Now one nipple is slightly larger than the other. How is this problem resolved? Can it be fixed?
Haha! Sorry, I got a visual... Anyway, I'm sure the one is just bigger than the other because the suction made it that way. I'm sure it's just swelling, and will go back to normal after an hour or so. In the meantime, you can put some ice on it, to stop the swelling.
Q: Heard this brand was good and lasts but don't feel like paying top dollar for a vacuum
I okorder and asked if there were ever discounts on these machines. It's not that I didn't want the machine or didn't understand the price I just like feeling like I got a good deal. They told me that they could offer me the Miele Uniq for $1299 and there was free shipping and because I am out of state I was able to pay no tax too. So $200 off made me feel like I was saving some money so I went ahead and bought it. Went flawless. I am not sure what model you are looking at but sounds like they give discounts on all machines. Good Luck!
Q: We have a Dyson that doesn't have a bag but 3 filters and we are starting to get many carpet beetles. We already had catiplillers and silversharks but these carpet beetle larva come in numbers! If I vacuum the rooms will I just be housing these bugs inside the vacuum and spreading them more to the other rooms?
just clean it out, but your better off doing it with a wet and dry vac, one that you wont keep in the house
Q: Someone knocks. You open the door. It's Jesus selling vacuum cleaners. Do you let him in for a demo?
Does the inside of the Vacuum tube have soft cushiony interior? I like to use my vacuums for other purposes...
Q: the one I have now is very noisy. thanks for any info on this
Try the Sensor 12, or Sensor 15, German made HEPA vacuum cleaners that trap 99.97 per cent of all the dust/dirt it vacuums up. I bought mine at a janitorial supply store. One is 10 years old and works like new, the other is 1 year old and is left on a job site where it is used 2 hours every day. Wonderful machines. Hospitals, hotels, motels, use this vacuum extensively.
Q: Vacuum milk is good.
Don't know what you mean
Q: It's $199 Cnd., and there's a $249 pet dust model, too. 24 cyclone tech, 17 ft. stretch hose, furniture attachments. Not to be confused with the earlier Shark models. It promises to do same job as competition twice the price, but y'know....Vacuum Cleaners.I just don't feel like doing the 'buy, try, and return' routine, so opinion from someone will be appreciated.
We have a bagless vacume. We shake the filter off every time when empty the tank and change at the recomended times. We have never had the trouble you have described. I think your vacume is messed up. I really like the bagless.
Q: Vacuum is the absence of matter. From my understanding, vacuums work by fans and air currents....I don't understand.
Vacuum cleans don't suck. They create a low pressure area inside the machine by blowing out air (matter) and the outside air pressure blows air into the cleaner to fill in the void left behind. So you could call it a blow cleaner, but that doesn't sound as nice in an advertisement. The low pressure area inside the machine is a partial vacuum, so the name is accurate.
