- I recommend professional cleaning but if youre just hard headed and insist on a home brew here ya go...If your carpet is synthetic material(nylon, polyester, olefin) depending on the type of soiling, Tide will work excellent, but dilute dilute dilute. Only use 1 drop to 5 gallons of water. With that, add 2 cups of 30volume hydrogen peroxide(can be found at sally's beauty supply for $3 a quart). If your carpet is natural fiber such as wool, dont be a cheap a$$, get it professionally cleaned. If you need something to spot clean you need some thing on the acid side of the pH scale, equal parts of vinegar and water will work fine. It will stink when you use it, but when it dries the smell will go away.

- With straws and what ever material of sting you want. Line up a bunch of straws for the size and shape you want. Run the string through them tie them off at one one one end, Then get to weaving. After its done. pule the straws out and tie of the thing ends. Or leave them in for a stonger mat

- I have a suggestion. It has happened with my carpet in the past. All you need to do is, take piece of rag (preferably cotton), immerse it in boiling hot water and dab it on the patch where it is. This should soften both the carpet and the dough. Once this is done, say, in a couple mins or so, take a terrycot towel and brush it in one stroke. This will take off the stuff from the carpet. If this does not work, take a moist cloth (drenched in regular water). Take a semi-hot pressing iron, and slowly and lightly iron the surface of the cloth. - Hi, There is rug padding available that goes under your area rug to keep it in place. They can be reversible for carpets or bare floors. Make sure that you buy a quality one that is not going to stain your carpet underneath.They help keep your rug in place and make it easier to vacuum. I would talk to a store that sells area rugs and I've seen them for sale on line. My mom had a cheap rubber one and it soon started falling apart and she was forever vacuuming up the pieces of it. Your underlay is usually 2 less than the size of your rug so that it does not show. Hope this helps.

- Rug Doctor carpet cleaners are really low end. Your best bet is to pay a professional company to come in a few times a year to clean the carpets properly. Once the carpets are clean, consider a weekly linen service. Lots of companys will come around on a weekly basis and lay out/exchange long carpet runners. It's a small investment to keep your store looking clean and polished.
