Q: i want technical names of the electrical equipments rheostat, wire wound
1) Anvil Dome, Backsheared Anvil 2) Dust Devils 3) Waterspouts 4) Funnel clouds
Q: What good would it do to change my spark plugs and wires would it be a good idea for a 86 year of a car they've never been changed before I was wondering would it help the car out thanks for the help
you will find the car will respond better. You should car the sparkplugs once a year. The wires maybe every ten years or until they are not working.
Q: So Ive never done wiring for my car, But my friends are willing to talk me through it. But the next time I can talk to them is next week and they kept telling me to tap into wires. but What does that mean? like, what does it mean to quot;tapinto the wires?
Tap means to splice into a wire. To join a new wire to the middle of an existing wire. Such as joining the wire for your new driving lights to the existing wire for the normal headlights. Before getting scared about cutting and soldering. Go to the parts store and get some IDCs. Just ask the counter guy for some suitcase connectors. You lay two wires next to each other and fold the IDC over them. When you squeeze it with pliers, it will join the two wires together.
Q: I have an old house and am replacing a dimmer switch in the kitchen. The old switch is has only 2 wires coming out of the switch that are both black. From the wall 2 wires connect to the 2 black wires on the switch, one is black which I have concluded is hot and the other is red, which must be the common wire. My question is that there is a 3rd wired that is pushed into the electrical box that is capped and not being used. This wire is white. I can only assume that would be a ground wire, but why would it be white in color. Can you tell me what the coloring scheme was for wiring old houses? Now I can connect the switch and use only the black and red wire, but would like to ground it properly if possible.

Q: in hooking up a hot wire from the battery to a toggle switch inside a vehicle, i ran a seperate ground wire to the body, there are 2 wires coming from the unit i need to hook to the toggle switch.how do i test to see which one of those is a hot wire? i am not too smart at this. ty kindly
Are the wires the same color?, if so the best way is to take unit apart, identify the wire that is connected to the shell the bulb screws into, or is fastened to, that wire is the negative. The wire that is connected to the center of the shell is the hot', or positive wire, this wire is connected to the switch. remember to install a fuse of the appropriate size in the circuit. Hope this helps, good luck!
Q: function of a fire-wire for backing up data
Its just a wire type, the A wire can Xfer at about 400mbps, and the B wire around 800, also USB 2.0 is around 480mbps, its just the wire type has nothing to do with the product that has the cable. Like an external hard drive can have a usb 2.0 wire a Esata, Sata, firewire, its all about the speed of the wire, nothing to do with helping backup files except for the time it takes to back them up.
Q: i want to install a new light in a old house.the problem is that there are three black wires coming out of he ceilng.the old light fixture has two black wires. two ceiling wires are connected to one fixture wire and the other ceiling wire i connected to he other fixture wire.i dont know which is the hot wire and which is the comon wire.also the new light has a ground wire ,2 blue wires and 2 white wires but, there is no ground wire coming out of the box. please help
You'll need a multi-meter to test which wire is neutral and which is hot. Technically you don't need to use the ground wire (green), but it would be a good idea for safety to run one from the box to the nearest ground (copper cold water pipe or the fuse panel). Sounds like your fixture has two light sockets? If so, you probably connect the 2 blue wires to the hot wire and the two white to neutral.
Q: my old light fixture had 2 white wires (from ceiling) twisted together and connected to a screw, it also had a green wire (from ceiling)connected to it with a screw.no black wires were connected to light fixture although they are 3 wires in the ceiling taped off together.how do i test for hot wire, i got a tester that lights up.i got a new light fixture that has 3 wires, 1 wht 1blk and copper.i know the copper goes with green, white with white and black with black. so i untangled the black wires, and i connected one to new light.but now my new light doesnt turn off.so i know i by passed my switch.how do i test for hot wire....where does the hot wire go?is it possible one of the white wires is my hot wire and the other white whire my neutral....so help please, im confused and frustrated
It sounds like the old fixture may have been improperly wired. It should not have had the green wire going to one side (screw) with the white wires going to the other side of the fixture. The green wire is normally a ground, and is only connected to the housing of the fixture - it's purpose is solely for safety, in case the hot side comes in contact with the metal fixture housing (it blows the breaker by design rather than being an electrocution hazard). Typically, the hot (black) wire is switched, and the neutrals bypass the switch. Your best bet is to search online for a wiring diagram for a switched light fixture, print it out and working with your test light, find the switched hot wire by measuring from each wire to the ground wire (for convenience only - hopefully it is really grounded) with the switch set in both directions. Note the results on the diagram, and that should help you sort it out.
Q: I heard that Japanese could load a low voltage without any wires in one direction for 1 meter! Of course 1 meter is nothing. But can we get rid of wires in next 50 or 100 years?
no the wires will be stronger and more hungry they will eat our brains and then we will be the wires but that's ok because our psychic abilities will be put to use at last
Q: I am making a lamp shade that calls for bonsai wire. How is bonsai wire different from regular wire and what would be a good substitute for it????
Bonsai wire may be purchased with coatings of various natural colors so it will not distract attention. Also, bonsai wire is usually single strand conductor because it is stiffer and will retain its shape better than multistrand. . Generally, wire is wire. For your purposes Grasshopper, find some house wire at the local home center..
