Q:I noticed many of our server cables are thicker than the standard ones for a desktop PC. Would any power cable work, regardless of gauge? I want to use shorter server power cables for cable management purposes, since some of our server cables are over 10-15 ft. in length and only need 3 ft. or so.

Q:i have the computer powersupply 400w and i dont know what cable to connect to the car stereo???
if you have a volt meter eather of the black wires are ground you will see a red and a yellow one is 5 volts and the other is 12 volts the 12 volts wire paired with one of the black wires will power your car audio
Q:Hi, I'm looking for an external hard drive with 500GB of storage that doesn't require a power cable as I need it to be 100% portable. Any suggestions?
Your info are somewhat puzzling for all human beings. earlier each little thing you pronounced that that's a Western digital Caviar green, after which you pronounced that that's a Toshiba externalcontinual. Western Caviar green is an inner perplexingcontinual and Toshiba is an exterior one. that's somewhat not likely that a Western digital HDD is in a Toshiba casing. anyhow, you assert which you're utilising a SATA cable to connect your HDD on your pc. that's not achievable. you are able to desire to be waiting to apply an eSATA or exterior SATA to connect your HDD, yet observing the product, i don't think of it has a eSATA connection available. So, i could advise connect the HDD interior the casing and close it right. then connect the means cable and then use an USB cable to connect your HDD with your pc. If that would not artwork then i could say there could desire to be a important connection difficulty interior the casing that's interrupting the relationship from the HDD. in case you are able to prefer to verify in the journey that your HDD is high-quality, that's somewhat helpful to apply a working laptop or pc and connect your HDD (the interior Western digital one). as a fashion to try this, disconnect the puzzling diskcontinual that's already put in interior the pc and use a similar SATA cables to connect your Western digital HDD and then reboot the pc and verify if each little thing works.
Q:Can a PoE powered cause a surge if I connect it to a Gigabit ethernet port?PoE Switch --gt; UTP cable --gt; Non-poe Gigabit Ethernet Switch
No, the PoE switch will initiate the connection with a low voltage signal to determine if the device at the other supports PoE or not. If not, it doesn't apply a current.
Q:Hi I have a 94 Cadillac Deville 4.9L and im trying to figure out with cable on my alternator is the power cable and which one is the ground. I have included a pic to help.
Yes,,, the hot wire is on the back of the Alternator,, The ground is on the side.
Q:What kind of material does the power cable accessory contain?
Power cable accessories are divided into several types, commonly used is heat shrink cable accessories, cold shrink cable accessories. (1KV, 10KV, 20KV, 35KV), several models (indoor, outdoor, intermediate connection), each containing the components are not the same, but there are all kinds of cold Heat shrinkable sleeve, heat shrinkable sleeve, heat shrinkable sleeve, heat shrinkable sleeve, heat shrinkable sleeve, heat shrinkable tube, sealant and other operating accessories.
Q:I am doing a test if the power supply. Can you have the computer on and plugged in with PSU out in the open, leave on the carpet ?Can you have the power cable plugged into the psu first and then try to plug in the psu cable into the mother board. Would this electrocute you? if you accidentally knocked over liquid onto the power supply while the computer is running and you touched the motherboard at the same time while you are perfectly grounded. Can this electrocute you? unpluging the psu connector while the computer is on?
You can but I wouldn't I build PCs all the time in test configurations outside of the case, but I always have everythign on non conductive serfaces, ie wooden tables. Carpet would be a little to staticy for me. Your second scenario leaves two answers for me, both are no, but for different reasons. If I plug a psu into a motherboard with power allready in it, I could short out the motherboard or worse yet shock myself. Also, I don't want to plug a power cable into a psu without any load on the device, doing so can and will fry the psu. depends on the liquid, if it is dionized water, you can turn the pc off dry it out and may be lucky enough not to fry your system. if it is soda, tap water, or salt water of any kind, don't touch it. I don't care if you THINK you are grounded, even if you were, the current would still flow through you, and if you pulled away, out of sudden suprise, then you would get electricuted, not good. Unbluggin the power cord from the powersupply will not be the biggest problem, unless you have very sweaty hands and the air is very dry. Just don't play with electricity
Q:Also i want to add more power cables to power my hardrives WHAT SHOULD I BUY !!?
Most all motherboards have like 6-10 SATA ports on them, meaning you can connect 6 sata devices (hard drive or dvd drives). Your power supply is what gives you sata power cables. Your psu needs to have the cables already built into it, since the psu has to have the power to actually power all those devices, so it only comes with cables of what its capable of powering. There are 4pin molex adapters which allow you to use a 4pin molex to power sata devices. So you would need to buy sata cables to connect drive to motherboard, and your psu needs to be capable of powering them. You may need to buy a new psu.
Q:This morning my cable modem seems to be malfunctioning...it's a Motorola SURFboard and it has a column of lights on the front (labeled Power, Receive, Send, Online, Activity, and Standby accordingly) that are all supposed to be lit up (except Standby) when I'm online. Well some of the lights keep going on and off--namely the quot;receivequot;, quot;sendquot;, and quot;onlinelights. In addition, my internet is operating very slowly and/or not at all; sometimes I get the quot;page cannot be displayedmessage when I try to navigate to another page; sometimes it goes thru ok but loads at snail's pace. Does this mean there's a problem with my computer or modem, or is it just that the internet is down in my area?
Ok, the send and recieve lights are supposed to flash, this is good. the connected light should be steady and the connected to pc light can flash if it wants the slow connection could be many things call your cable computer and ask them what to do if there's nothing wrong with your cable settings, run a virus check, spyware check, and adware check. possibly restore your entire pc to factory condition.
Q:I'm only asking this on here out of interest, this is not homework. I want to know how to calculate exact distances between to poles connected at the top by a cable. The length or height of the objects are not important to me, but if you must use an example please do so. So I want to know what formulas to use, what variables in those formulas mean, and how the slope of the cable will affect the distance. For example, if two poles have a distance between them of 0, and the cable extends 100, it would not mean that the drop of the cable (called a catenary?) would be 50, (it's misleading because you would think that since the distance between the two poles is 0, the cable would drop 50 and rise 50. But this is not taking into account the slope it has to take at the bottom of the catenary. It must lose some drop (perhaps to 48 or 49) in order to bend and rise back up...I want this out of my head, it's bugging me that I can't figure it out.
So you want the length along the cable? I honestly don't know how to compute the arc length of a catenary, but I'm sure that the power company knows how to do it because they need to know how much cable it will take to string up a whole line of poles. Your example doesn't work only because you impose a physically impossible constraint (zero distance between the poles - the poles have no thickness) and then try to impose physical reality (the cable can't bend instantaneously) on the problem. In the physically unrealizable problem, yes the cable does drop 50 ft because it is infinitely bendable. You're dealing with hyperbolic sines and cosines. Good luck
