- Q: i have 2 audiobahn 12s and an adiobahn amp in my 2000 malibu...1. the thin blue wire that comes from the amp to the stereo is connected to an orange wire behing the (stock) stero, and when i turn off the car the amp stays on. does anyone know which wire to connect the blue wire to, so the amp turns off with my radio or when i turn off the key.2. only one of my 12s is hitting, i think ther might be a wire connected wrong behind the stero. since i have a stock stereo and i have a converter hooked up, because it had no rca inputs on it. its not the speaker or the rca wire itself, because when i connect it with a y cable to the amp one or the other will work...i would appreciate it if someone could help.
- Ditch the stock radio and buy a new head unit with sub outputs. It will be a lot easier, and sound a lot better. This will probably get rid of both of your problems assuming you get the wiring harness with the purchased radio
- Q: I want to install a single-pole dimmer switch for a series of 4 pot lights in the same box (double gang) as a kill switch for a receptical already installed. There is a 14-3 wire (b/w/r/g) brigning power into the box from the main, and 14-2 wiring for the dimmer and 14-2 wire for the kill switch. How do I wire this? The single pole dimmer has a ground and two black wires. The switch to kill the receptical has only two brass screws on one side.
- First of all cut the red wire back out of the way, it will not be used. Next route the incoming power black wire to the kill switch, same black wire continues out the other screw from the kill switch to the dimmer, no it does not matter which screw which black wire goes on. Then the black will go to each pot light and continue on to the next one etc. So you will have two black power and one light lead connected together at each box except for the last one. Same for the white wire. This will turn all the lights on and off at the same time and they will be parallel wired so they will all have the same brightness.
- Q: I recently purchased a used car already wired for an amplifier, however, when I looked at the wiring i found that the installer ran 8 gauge wire and then crimped it to a 12 gauge wire (with fuse) that connected to the battery is this bad? should i change it to 8 gauge? Or does it not matter?
- As long as the middle of the wire is not grounding at all. You will be fine. You can run any size gauge wire as long as it connects at each end real good and gets a good connection. The best way instead of crimping anything at all is to get a 100amp fuse where one wire end goes into a slot on each side and a screw holds it tightly. You can run the eight gauge to one side and run the twelve out of the other and thats the best way and safest way to do it so you have no crimped hack jobs on it. -Shawn
- Q: just need how u think it would be wired for like the whole circuite thingy
- for battery charlieC for house supply put the switch in the live wire and not on the neutral.
- Q: What's the use of the live wire, neautral wire and earth wire in a plug? The purpose
- Other guy is correct for the U.S., but from your wording, I think you live in the U.K. The live (hot) and neutral wires convey the power to the device or appliance, with the hot have a potential of 220-240 volts AC, with respect to the neutral, like the + and - terminals of a battery. The ground/earth connection is for safety, and no current flows in it under normal use. It is connected to any metal parts of an appliance. The neutral is connected to ground in the breaker box or somewhere in your basement or nearby. If there is a short in an appliance and a high voltage gets connected to a metal part, this could be a lethal hazard. But since the metal parts are connected to safety ground, it instead causes a circuit breaker to pop, disconnecting the voltage. .
- Q: What silk is fine as hair, soft as wool, strong as steel?
- Molybdenum wireMolybdenum wire mainly refers to wire cutting with high voltage electric field in a continuous movement by molybdenum and other precious metals made material cutting workpiece, fine wire cutting machine is the continuous movement of the workpiece is called wire electrode
- Q: Question:What is the point of new wires? Everyone keeps saying thicker wire. What does that thicker wire do? Does it carry a different force? I thought the ligature bands is what gives the wire the force? I'm kind of confused! Also, do you get a thicker wire everytime? Is this thicker wire visibly thicker and noticable?Does the thicker wire cause a drastic diff in pain?Thank you for your help and answering my question about my previous question.
- No, you can't physically see the difference in the thicker wire, but you can feel the difference when they first put it in. It will feel kind of heavier and tighter. It won't last long though...maybe 2 or 3 days and you'll get used to it. No, you won't get a thicker wire at every visit.
- Q: i want electrical symbol used in house wiring
- The electrical symbol for what? Different devices and types of devices have different symbols. Also, each architectural firm uses a slightly different set of symbols so that a particular symbol on one set of plans will mean one thing, but mean something else on a different set of plans by a different firm. An UGLY's Book will give you some of the more common electrical symbols.
- Q: I am wiring a GFCI receptacle with two regular receptacles after it.So before the GFCI I have my 12/2 wire from where it will hook into the box (the line side), after it I have my wire going to the two other receptacles (the load side).Well the GFCI receptacle has screw terminals for the line HOT and WHITE wires as well as a GROUND. On the bottom it has screw terminals for the load side but ONLY the HOT and WHITE, no ground screw.Does this mean that I don't hook up the ground for the load wire or does it mean I have to pigtail the ground to the same screw the line ground is using?I didn't want to assume that I connect the line and load grounds out of fear I was circumventing the GFCI.
- The grounds all are attached to the same ground screw, twist all of the ground wires together and bring one wire to the screw. There are ground wire nuts, green with a hole in the end, put one of the ground wires through the hole and then twist all of the others under the nut.
- Q: I'm installing a remote start system in my car, but I can't find the tach wire. Does anyone know what harness it is located in, and what color the cable is? I've looked over the diagrams, but I can't seem to find the cable that runs to the tach guage.
- You can use a wire from a fuel injector. They should have two wires. Look at all of them and use a wire that is NOT common to other injector wires.
