- Q: How to remove laundry detergent from rug?
- rent a rug steamer/shampooer, the kind that sucks up the water, and run that over the spot without adding rug shampoo to the cleaner.
- Q: they are 4months old, a boy girl, fixed.they keep scratching and pulling up the edges so that its coming up in strings/scrunched threads. I've tried blocking the area with objects, and a scratching post, b4 but they just go behind it somehow or go find somewhere else to pull up the rug. i've tried to remove them from the area when they do and say things like no off..but of course being cats they dont listen to me :(how can i make them stop????????????? any help would be amazing! thanks in advance!!
- why are ppl so nasty.... if you don't like cats don't answer cat questions... anyway, i'm haveing the same proble with my kitten and i have two scratching things, one post and one cardboard thingy both with catnip... he's not interested. but i have a sound i make when he's bad that he doesn't like it's like a loud chhhht. and when i do it he stops and runs away to do something else... he comes back but it will take awhile... the spray bottle idea was good too.... they just have to learn what's good and what's not just like dogs
- Q: Is it possible to replace the carpet of a trailer/motorhome by yourself without calling on professionals?
- yes, but you need to be patient. you need to remove all the screwstrips around the perimeter of the carpet. Use the old carpet as a pattern to cut the new carpet... there will be many cuts... be careful.
- Q: I recently moved house and my real fix fur rug isn't large enough to cover the floor in my room, so my question if, if I go and kill some foxes tonight, how do I skin them and how do I attach the skins to the rug without making it obvious where i have sewn them on?Also, what shall I do with the remains, is fox edible?
- Yes fox is edible... but save the brain. Tanning a hide is a skill that requires practice. I can tell you how but I suggest practicing on something you don't plan to have every guest at your house have a look at. Also some sewing skill would be needed to mend the two rugs together, and foxes aren't large animals so more than one will almost definitely be needed. To tan a hide: Skin the animal at the leg and stretch the skin out very taunt. You will need a tool for scraping ( something sharp but rounded enough not to tear the hide). While the hide is stretched, scrap of the epidermis of the skin with your tool (on the side without fur obviously). Its important to keep the hide wet during this process. Keep a bucket of water nearby to wet it down with. After the hide dries from anywhere from a day or a week (still stretched) untie it and cut it to the size you need it. Now rinse it in a mixture of a half - a whole gallon of water and the foxes own brains (yes, the brains). Rinse, wring it out, rinse again. Over and over and over until your tired. Next stretch the skin out some. Give it a tug with a partner to loosen it up. Then you have to smoke the skin with a dark smoke (most likely from old rotten wood). This will cause the white skin to tan (hence, tanning the hide). Tan the fir side as well but no where near as much as the inside of the skin. Once its a golden brown you can sew it onto your first rug. Whew lol. This is just the general jist of tanning a hide. There are many other methods that I don't know about. I learned how from Naked into the wilderness: Primitive Wilderness Living Survival Skills
- Q: my carpet shampoor does not suck the water back up.help plz
- sounds as if something has cloged up the vacume. sit down and take the machine apart, but remember what goes where. You might find the culprit. If not take to a repair shop.
- Q: I know the chairs should stay on the rug when pulled out.. But it's a pretty small space. I was thinking maybe no rug at all would look Better than one that's too small!?
- Yeah, skip the rug. I have the same situation where I can't fit a rug for a space where the chairs need to be pulled out. I just have a couple of rugs in other parts of the room. Much easier to clean under the table and no stains on the rugs.
- Q: How often do you vacuum your rugs? I do it about once a week and occasionally put down freshner on the carpet and then vacuum it a few minutes later
- Every day......you would be surprised at what is in your carpet by the end of the day. Little particles and don't forget the little carpet mites that everyone gets.
- Q: I'm changing the decor of my room. I have 2 dark blue throw rugs that wont match anymore. Instead of buying new ones, I was thinking of bleaching them, then dying them black. Will that work? if so how can I bleach them? I was going to put them in a tote with bleach and water but im not sure how much bleach and how much water I should use.
- I would forego the bleach step, because it can damage fibers if you use enough bleach to remove the color. Plus, it takes a lot more dye to dye a light color dark. As long as the rugs are natural fiber, I would just dye over the dark blue with black; you should get a richer, darker color black rather than a more greyed-out color.
- Q: I bought two new rugs and one of my cats has already peed on one of them. I spanker her and told her no and rubbed her nose in it. Is this a good way to train her or can I do something else? This cat destryed a previous rug by peeing on it.
- Get a new rug. He will always go back to where he marked his scent no matter how much you clean it because there will always be a trace of it there and cats have a much keener sense of smell than we do. I think rubbing the cat's nose in it is just a little too much. That is just plain abue.
