- Q: I used RESOLVE High Traffic Carpet Cleaning Kit a few months ago. I didn't think it even worked, but to my dismay, I believe it has made my carpet dirtier. I probably should have tried getting some of the soap up, but I had no idea that leaving soap (even if the directions tell you that you only need to vacuum) that it could lead to the stains sticking more.So now, the areas that I used the product on have turn one shade away from black (we have white carpet).I just used a Bissell carpet steamer and the whole area looks the same!WHAT DO I DO?!I fear a professional won't be able to get it out either...

- Lay the rug out in the sun to warm Then back roll the rug is the best way to do it. It should be back rolled around a tube. Carpet tubes work the best. Roll it tight. - Q: my son had his carpets cleaned and now his baby has hives. professional carpet cleaners are strong and he had them add a deodorizer because of the baby being sick and vomiting on the carpet. they had them done twice within a few weeks and now the upstairs person is saying she smells a chemical ordor and the baby sits on the floor and has hives. the apartment is a two story house and their bottom apartment holds moisture. does anyone know how they can rinse some of the chemical off?
- Definitely have the carpet cleaners rinse the carpets again. See if he can convince them to bring a dehumidifier to dry everything out more quickly. If not, it helps dry the carpets faster if you heat up the apartment, open the windows to let out the warm damp air, and repeat the heat/airing cycle until the carpet is dry or you're tired of doing this. If the apartment always tends to be damp, it's worth getting a dehumidifier. My family has tried Kenmore (noisy, inefficient), DeLonghi (quiet, inefficient) and ComfortAire (quiet, efficient). Just be careful to keep the condensate bucket clean to avoid mold and clean lint out of the filter regularly so it will circulate air efficiently.

- some carpeting comes with a sheen kind of covering called Scotch Guard (it's nothing like plastic, it was sprayed on at the factory). Don't worry about keeping it spotless (just keep ink off of it, tar from your shoes, and paints and nail polish and nail polish remover, clorox, etc.) You can always spot clean a carpet, and you can always have guys come in and for around $40 a room they can steam clean that carpet. Maybe every few years or so.
