- Q:He has made a couple of really small slits in the black plastic on the wire, all in the same place, but on both sides. I can see silver through it, but no other colours. I have unplugged it from the laptop and the mains, as I assume I shouldn't use it. - Q:Hi everyone,I attempted to build my first PC; purchased the hardware, software, etc. Everything is assembled perfectly.After installing the motherboard, power supply and the respective cards, I connect the power cable.Upon connecting the power cable, the PC turns on and the only way to turn it off is to remove the power cable (from the back of the PSU). The PC boots up as if I pressed the power button!!I've read that this problem could be the power supply or the capacitors on the board??I'd be appreciative for any advice,Thanks,p
- Hmm that sounds like you have missplaced the cables to the motherboard from the front pannel (on switch, HDD led etc.) Kenny
- Q:Hi, my old laptop has broken: when i try to put the power cable into the socket on the laptop, it only goes in on a certain angle and never stays there even when taped, so its impossible to get the laptop on for more than a few seconds. I've tried different power cables too, and nothing seems to work, so it must be the actual laptop problem... how can I get the laptop to stay on to retrieve some photos that I have got on there? - There are laptop drive to regular IDE adapters, so you can plug the drive into a desktop computer. Since it is an old computer, it probably an IDE drive, not one of the newer SATA laptop drives (there are adapters for those too). Remove the drive from the laptop, and plug in the adapter (commonly found on OKorder), then plug it into an IDE cable in someone's desktop. Watch for the master/slave jumper issue. If it's the only drive on the cable, the default master setting will run as-is. trying different power cables is a no-no for laptops, unless they are made for that same model. Using the wrong adapter may fry your motherboard

- I only use my multifx for clean effects, since I've never found a distortion that sounds any good from any of them (even the newest aren't all that great). Turns out that most multifx units have pretty decent clean sounds. Whodathunk? I found a Boss GT-3 for 100$ (a good deal) and it's one of the best multifx I've ever used - again, only for cleans. The Boss GT-x series are so versatile that they're actually kinda hard to program, until you get used to them, but the sounds you can get out of them are far higher quality, in my opinion, than most other effect units out there, at least below the 500$ mark. The coolest part about the GT-x series is how you can program them to change sound over time - say, as you move the expression pedal it morphs from a flanger to a chorus, and all the while the delay behind it grows in volume and intensity, and everything is synced together to the same bpm with a tap tempo. It's simply sick. I don't have a lot of experience with the newest Digitech stuff, most of my experience is with models from, I dunno, almost a decade ago. They weren't that good back then. My best advice is to scour for cheap units second-hand that you know have good customer reviews, and go for them. Always play before you buy! Saul

- You will need to look up the motherboard manufacturer to find the pinout for the cabling. That would be the fastest way. or you could use a small flat screw driver to short the pins until you find the right combo...the latter could result in damaging your mainboard but not likely. You will need to look at the original case plug if possible. HP/Compaq do not list the pinout nor is it written on the board. all it it listed as is HPanel1.

- Yep its the same thing as the 1 that came with the Xbox 360 but not made by Microsoft. Only problem is you'll still need the power block that came with the xbox 360.
