It's not the voltage you should be concerned about. It's the amperage. The amperage is lower on a house ~a/c system b/c the voltage is higher; that is the electricity moves faster. Another thing noteworthy is it can be more than 12V, when your car is on the pwer is coming from the Alternator not the battery. I wouldn't go with anything less than 8 gauge wire at the least. Go to radio shack or the auto parts store and buy it bulk off the spool should only cost 10 bucks for 6-8 ft. . Good luck

The power plant will have to deliver the load current and battery trickle charging current, at the voltage necessary to charge the battery. You will need to know the load current, the trickle charge current, the distance between the power supply and the battery (or load if you connect directly to it), and the voltage necessary to supply the load and trickle charge the battery. The voltage drop will be the total current multiplied by the total circuit resistance. this resistance will be the sum of the individual conductor resistances. As an equation, this is Voltage drop = total resistance times current in amperes. The total resistance will be the voltage drop divided by the current. Now you know how much resistance you can stand. What did the electrician say? This is not exactly a DIY project, because it requires inspection and possibly permits. You cannot connect this yourself. The size if the wire is related to the material, distance, and power. It may also be related to local practices. The old 60 amp service entrance is illegal, so you may have to upgrade to 200 amp which would be way different for wire size. An electrician will know the codes relevant to your situation. You can probably get the wire at a home improvement or electrical supply house but the electrician will have to make the connections. Plus, it keeps you from frying yourself or the electric company from pulling the plug.

Maybe the power management resetting the notebook after unplug the power. it's not reset the whole system, only adjusting into battery mode (long life). Commonly, the screen will blank a moment. it's normal. the setting can be found in Control Panel, Power Option.
