Q:I am redoing a room in my basement, and I discovered that the previous owners glued down almost every inch of the carpet. The plan right now is to replace that carpet with new carpet. We tried scrapping and pulling the carpet up...but the process is almost too slow to be worth it. Does anyone have any tips or any suggestions on how to get around this? We are open to doing a different kind of flooring as well.
Start in a corner by grabbing the carpet with the pliers. Gently pull back slowly, as to not tear through the carpet. Once the old carpeting is completely pulled out; set it aside for later. Use the scraper to remove the remaining dry carpet glue from the floor. Removing the glue is pretty simple, but there is a way to do the job right. There are many industrial solvents made specifically for this purpose. These products can be purchased at you local hardware store. These products are chemicals that contains solvents to dissolve the glue...read the directions on all chemical bottles prior to use.
Q:Okay, i accidently spilled purple koolaid on a white carpet :-(. Any ideas of how to get it out?
Dont put any chemical carpet cleaners on it. This can just set in the stain. Use plain water and a white towel to pat away the stain. This should dilute the spot. If there is any residual coloring, use peroxide. Let set for a few minutes and then blot up. Never rub a stain, this pushes it further into the carpeting
Q:I have a large sisal rug that has been spilled on cat-vomited on, and who knows what else. Trying to spot-clean the stains hasn't been productive. What should I do?
Hey,i happen to have a sisal rug myself!! Firstly, it depends on the kind of sisal rug you have. There are two types: synthetic fiber, which may contain nylon or wool-blend materials; and natural fiber, made of plant products such as sea grass, paper, or coconut fibers. To safely clean synthetic-fiber sisals, follow the manufacturer's directions, which may recommend hot-water extraction or a dry-cleaning method. Manufacturers of natural-fiber sisals suggest only a dry-cleaning method. Do not steam-clean or wet-shampoo; liquids or excessive dampness may cause these rugs to shrink or pucker. For spot-cleaning a stain, lightly mist the area with the manufacturer's recommended cleaning solution (do not pour or heavily apply any cleanser directly onto the rug). Then blot the damp area with a white towel and continue blotting until the stain is removed. A fabric protectant may be applied to both types of sisal rugs during the manufacturing process or by the consumer. But regular wear and tear and cleaning can decrease its effectiveness; it may need to be reapplied.=] thx,
Q:The carpet rubber floor is glued to the floor. How can it be removed?
Hand cream. First, the surface of the printed products tear off, and then put some hand cream on top, slowly rub with your thumb, rub for a while, you can rub the residual gum are rubbed down. Just slow down. Hand cream is a kind of grease, which is not compatible with gum. Remove glue is to use this characteristic.
Q:so funny story haha. i was at softball practice last night at an indoor facility. The ground is made of an astroturf- carpet type material. the drill was to practice sliding on a piece of cardboard. i however slid a bit too early and skinned my thigh on the carpet/astroturf stuff. Now i have a giant burn thing about the size of my fist on my right thigh. It oozes constantly (which is extremely gross!) Last night i slept with it uncovered hoping it would dry up a bit, but it didn't. i taped a piece of medical gauze over it today for school, but it oozed right through! Also, when i went to take it off, the gauze was stuck right to it, and i had to yank it off hard, and it hurt soooo badd. i really don't want to have to do it again! Can someone please tell me how to make the pain go away (it burns!), make it dry up, and stop oozing? I've skinned myself before, but this is the worst one i've ever had.
Don't like he said it will get Moise ????????????????????????????
Q:What are some tips on caring for and cleaning my oriental rug?
You Need: Vacuum A hair brush An old T Shirt Hair conditioner Scotch-guard Before you say “who is this freak”, just hear me out… Give the rug a good vacuum. Put some hair conditioner in a bowl and add warm water. Take the T Shirt and soak it in the bowl. Squeeze T Shirt and then wrap it around the hair brush. Brush the rug until it is damp BUT NOT WET. This will keep the fibers soft. Once you have done this, use the hair brush again, this time without the T shirt. You want to fluff the fibers up. Once done, it then needs a final vacuum. NOTE: The number of times you will need to do this will depend on how much traffic the rug gets. If traffic is high, then do this every two months. If not, then maybe every 4-5 months. Lastly, your rug is less likely to absorb stains if you scotch- guard it after cleaning.
Q:i just moved into a new apartment. i really like, and i spent like 2 days.....but walking barefoot on the carpet turns my feet black.....i live in small apratment, there is only one large area that is carpeted...are there any products that are good to use? would a carpet cleaner come out for just one large room?
Safeway has got Rentals for cleaning carpets. you can get liquids / powder also from there. try it
Q:Does anybody have a recipe for home made carpet cleaner for a steam cleaner? Thanks
What type of carpet you have? Wools/poly... Whats your machine hold 1/2 galon OR 2 ? 1/2 cup-1 cup vinegar if using soaps too tablespoon to 1/3 cup of tide/gain Lemon about 25 drops... Simple green 1/2 cup Hot water and vinegar gain is o.k. on some however use just a dab (seriouse here)for freshness unless you have lemon essentail oil handy.. Vinegar will leave the least amount of residue in the carpet and will slow down the resoiling process. So using vinegar and Hot water you can still add dabs of tide, gain, simple green. test a area is important.. I would not use a amonia recipe if you have cats or dogs
Q:I have a candle that dripped wax on a carpet so what is the easiest way to remove it from my carpet?
scrape with a putty knife. get 95% of it off. then boiling water and a rag.
Q:Is it true that you are better off buying a thinner carpet (not as dense or tall) with an 8 lb. carpet padding (the best) as opposed to a thicker carpet (dense and tall) with a cheaper 6 lb. padding? The price difference in the padding is dramatic...3.50/sq. yd. vs. 6.50/sq. yd.!
it all depends on your taste in carpet. if you like flat carpets, like berber, these are more easy to vaccume cause the pile is flat. in this case, get the thicker padding. but if you love luxury shags and dont have kids or pets to get dirt all stuck in the fibers, the thinner pad is for you. in other words, your lifestyle and your taste should be your guide.
