- Q: A pen broke open on the carpet and without my knowledge, my dad went and sprayed rubbed it with Windex which I'm pretty sure it made it worst. I looked online and tried using hairspray and vinegar water but it hardly helped. Should I try nail polish remover or baking soda? Please help!
- definately the rubbing alcahol, or hand santizer which is alcahol too, it gets printer ink stains and pen stains out of my clothes.

- I've got a rug right now that the same thing has happened to. I had it in our yard storage building over two summers, and went to get it out to bring it back into use and the backing has crumbled. If I am thinking of the same thing, what you mean by backing is that rubbery, or gluey stuff they treat the back of the rug with to keep the pile from shifting.. I haven't done this yet, and it's going to be a bit of a chore, but I'm going to a fabric store to look for some kind of fairly heavy fabric, kind of like they actually use on those better quality rugs. It's attached only round the edges of the rug, but it would sure cover up the yukky look of the dried, crumbled sealant on the back. You'd need a heavy duty upholstery type needle to do it with, and then just turn the edges of the fabric under, and hand-stitch it to the back of the rug.

- Q: hey just wondering is there any big difference between a rug with leg straps and a rug with a tail chord?
- Leg straps will hold the rug in place more efficiently than a tail cord. The tail cord simply keeps the rug from slipping forward, while the leg straps will prevent slippage from side to side and shifting. The rug will fit much better with leg straps than with a tail cord. Some horses are so rambunctious that they will actually get the rug to flip forward over their rumps, rendering the tail cord useless. However it doesn't matter to some horses leg straps vs. tail cord. For example: my QH was a great boy; he was easy on his blankets and did not try to weasel his way out of them. He had a generous rump and I used a rug with a tail cord and had no problems. However, I then used that same rug on my TB, who wore the same size, and she flipped it over her rump. I went to the barn one day and there she was, with the rug completely inverted over her back. It also would shift all over the place, so I put leg straps on it, and it solved my problems. If adjusted correctly, leg straps are more beneficial.

- If it is chewing gum or flexible glue like double faced adhesive tape or Black & Decker glue ( full- purpose adhesive), and banana oil. use the volatile oil, but the carpet will be damaged, chloroform and hot water containing soda are the best. transformer oil and rosin water can also be used; if it is glass glue, acetic acid could be used(vinegar essence, nail color remover); if it is 502, it is afraid of heat and alkalis; if it is epoxy resin (combining of two kinds of glues), white vinegar), Fengyoujing could be used if you are afraid of pollute the air.
- Q: The carpet guy came to our house and measured our room out the other day, and said to put the baseboards in after. I read on a lot of sites to do the base boards first. Is the carpet company asking us to do it this way so its easier for them? Should we put baseboards in first even though they say not to?
- If your doing newly painted base boards( you don t say) they may have trying to avoid scratching freshly painted boards or a newly urethaned base.. Since paint wont thoroughly cure for a month, even a careful installer can scratch baseboards.The backing on new anti static carpets can be worse than sandpaper. I m not defending them,but showing you a point from a store owner/installer s view. I agree that baseboards should be installed 1st with a small gap under them so carpet can be tucked in and cut. I really really need to clean it because I move out soon and don't want to have to pay for a whole entire cleaning. Anyone have any remedies to help?
