- The best way that I have heard it described, and I agree is that it feels like having a really bad sunburn and someone scratches it. I mean it definitly is uncomfortable. But, the good thing is, as soon as they stop the machine, the pain pretty much stops. I was not really sore at all afterwords. In terms of the needles, you don't even see them. It all happens so fast you don't really think of the needle part. The outline hurts the worst, color and shading isn't that bad. The inside of your arm will be the most painful spot. Don't stress, the anticipation is the worst part.

- If you want something that's more for a specific spot on the rug and that''s quick and easy - try the 409 carpet cleaner (you can get it at the grocery store or walmart) - it's foam that you spray on the rug and then vacuum it up. A good thing about this stuff - I use it on my dry clean only blazers between trips to the dry cleaner - it's great for getting stains around the cuff and any make-up stains on the lapels! Foam it on, rub it in and then use the upholstery attachment on your vacuum to suck it off of the fabric!

- I was told by the carpet layer from Discount City Carpets when laying my new (solution-dyed nylon twist) carpets about 18 months ago that new carpet comes Scotchguarded and it is removed with steam cleaning.

- Rent a steam cleaner and purchase white vinegar. Sprinkle baking soda all over the humid wet carpet. let is soak into the carpet. Then using the steam cleaner and white vinegar start using the steam cleaner and try to soak up most all of the wetness. If you have a carpet padding under the carpet you will need to roll up the carpet and hang it over a dry area outside or in the garage to totally dry. As for the carpet padding you will need to try to suck out the wetness from that too and get it dry. Even using old towels will help. If you can also pull the padding up it will dry better too. When both the padding and carpet is dry. Sprinkle baking soda on the floor after it is cleaned and then lay the carpet padding back down. Sprinkle more baking soda down over the padding so this will help kill any bacteria and smells. Replace the carpet and vacuum the carpet and it should have taken care of the wet carpet and smells. However the carpet got wet it should be fixed that it will not happen again. Carpets and padding don't last long after so much water has set into the carpet and padding. That is why it should be thoroughly dry before putting them back down on the floor. Yes this sounds like a lot of work, and it is but the water needs to be completely out of the floor and padding, and carpeting to last as long as you can keep it in good condition. It will also help your floors to not mold.

- i guess you are talking about the padding. most carpet does not have attached padding. the foam padding is put on the floor and the carpet then is laid over it. if you already have padding in your room and it is in good shape . you can just put your new carpet over it. they will want to sell you new padding for a high price ,, but you can just use the padding you already have. if you want to look at your padding ... just go to a hidden corner of your room.. and pull up the corner of the carpet a little and you will see your padding.
- Q: I don't have the cash to rent a rug doctor. I have a large white rug in my living room and I guess from walking around the house with no socks on, there is a 2'x6' area that is darker than the rest, along with a few stains from spilled drinks.I have a bottle of some carpet cleaning foam with a cheap scrubber on the end but it's just too small to cover that large of an area.So I'm thinking a bucket and a rag might be the best option. I have since bought a small bathroom size mat over the area my feet go on but I'd like to clean it still.So maybe a bucket of warm water with a dab of dishwashing liquid detergent? - Q: I've recently noticed rugs popping up on my yards in the evenings, it goes down to around 4oC here at night right now, and all horses are in their own fields, not in a herd. I personally am not too sure on rugging yet. My mare is a 16.2, 10 year old Irish Sports Horse, and I simply refuse to clip her for my own reasons. She has been rugged for most of her life with her old owner, and obviously it's unfair of me to deny her rugging now, so no rug is not an option.I was just wondering how cold it has to get before you start rugging. I myself will rug in horrible rain, and at 1oC or below, but should I be doing it at higher temps? I don't want to ruin the growth of her winter coat, and she gets hay and a feed every night.
- I agree with the fact that horses have their natural central heating when the weather get cold BUT and this is a very important factor, in the UK our winters are inclined to be very wet often accompanied with a bitter cold wind and no stock likes being soaking wet and very cold. At the moment my mares, foals and two year old horses are all out with no rugs, the weather has been extraordinarily mild and most importantly dry. I would hold off rugging until the wet weather moves in. Some people are getting beyond ridiculous with rugging the moment they think that it is going to get 'cold' and leaving them on during the day whereby the poor animals are sweating. Several days this week I have turned my clipped horses out naked as the weather has been so warm(they come in late afternoon)

- Q: My male cat just recovered from a urinary tract infection. He urinated on my beautiful fairly new woven rug for the very first time (he ALWAYS goes in his litter box); that's how we knew he had an infection. Ever since that one little offense, he decided that the rug is his and he drags it around my house. I sprayed and cleaned his tinkle off of it immediately right after the offense, why is he doing this? I put the rug back but over and over he drags it to other rooms. How can I claim my rug back?
- Wow - I've never heard of a rug-stealing kitty. You should video tape it and put it on u-tube. But that aside, I'm not sure what to tell you to try. The only thing that may work is to spray the rug with some Bitter Apple spray and that should stop him from chewing on it and picking it up.

- Take a paper towel and an iron and iron the paper towel on the spot. The heat will melt the wax and the towel will absorb it. You may need to repeat the process several times depending on the absorbancy and the size of the spill. Just set the iron to a lower setting so you don't melt the carpet. A mild setting should do.
