FAQ

Q: What's the difference with cyclonic to multi-cyclonic filtration system?

Multi-cyclonic is where the dust container has a plastic filter section inside and has many little tunnels in it that separate the finer dust and dirt for the next filter and there is no HEPA filter in the middle plastic filter section.

Cyclonic filtration is where there is a central HEPA filter that sits inside the dust container and catches the finer dust.

Q: My vacuum just stopped while I was using it! What do I do now?

All of our vacuum cleaners have been fitted with a thermal safety cut-off switch which activates to stop the motor from burning out. When it does that it will prevent the unit from turning on again until it has cooled sufficiently to reset, which is between 2 – 4 hrs. The most common reason for safety cut-off switch activated is the filters needs to be cleaned. Please read the instruction manual and follow the instructions on how to clean the filters.

Q:What are the OSHA regulations on repairing electrical cords on appliances like Vacuum cleaners?
i would say have a new cord installed, i'm sure osha would have a problem with you getting killed from a badly patched cord.
Q:Are they worth the money? Do they really clean the air?
Don't know, but I almost got a job with them once. They seem kind of shady. You have to start out by getting your friends and family to buy their stuff. Very expensive. Caveat emptor.
Q:what brand is a good brand for vacuum cleaners other than dyson?
Well Hoover Is good as long as you pick out a good model not a cheapo one. I own a Simplicity That has been Pretty good. I have had It for like 12 years or so. They also go by two brand names one being less money I think and both are made In the USA! And Eureka Is good.
Q:it's just a little cheap fabric couch but it's all I have
Most vacuum cleaners have an upholstery attachment that you can put on the hose and use on the couch or other upholstered items. The Kong Zoom Groom or other rubber de-shedding tools like mitts work really well on fabric too. In the future, you may want to train the dog to stay oof the furniture, block his access to it or cover the furniture with a blanket/sheet/petcover to prevent hair from getting on the upholstery in the first place.
Q:Can I use my vacuum cleaner to suck up the excess co2 in the air?
That's awfully silly! That's like the broad that wants to use a really big air conditioner to solve global warming.
Q:I'm a guy who isn't extremely familiar with vacuum cleaners so maybe someone can help. I was running around the house with my Kenmore Progressive vacuum cleaner and I accidentally pushed the adjustable thingy that lets you set the height of the vacuum. This adjuster thing is about halfway down the silver tube. The second I touched it, the carpet cleaning part shut off so it's just sucking air. I pushed everything together as hard as I could trying to get it to come back on but with no luck. I had been vacuuming for quite a while. Do these things shut off when they get too hot and stay off until they cool? It seems kind of fishy that it died right when i touched the adjuster thing though. Any ideas?
I suspect that your vacuum shuts off the beater bar (carpet cleaning part) when the height adjustment is put on low. This allows the vacuum to clean a non-carpeted floor without the beater bar kicking dirt all around the kitchen. Once you figure out how to properly re-set the height adjustment, the beater bar should work again. You may have to check to make sure the beater bar drive belt is still in place. I don't know why you had such a hard time re-setting the height adjustment, but evidently you were doing something wrong, as it should not take that much muscle.
Q:Maybe a new brand of high powered vacuum cleaners? Or perhaps a solution to nuclear waste disposal?
Yes. I have a very high military security clearance, so I'll have to ask you to keep this all under your hat ( or helmet or whatever), -- but the scuttlebutt is, that we're in the process of building, ( in Area 51 ), a very large concrete bunker where the government intends to bury all those things that the government certifies to be non-existent. The real hope is that it may be dug up, at such a time that science is able to produce something from nothing, and put it to good use by intelligent design. Remember you didn't hear it here.----Loose lips sink ships, ( or whatever it is they sink).
Q:crazy. Although I empty my bags or canister frequently, my vacuums only seem to last a few months. I just got a Dirt Devil about 2 months ago and its suction is just horrible now. Can anyone recommend a vacuum for under $500 that will last? Thank you.
Look, I had the same problem as you. I bought a Kirby vacuum and I am making payments on it. Now I had added the cost of the vacuums together and it was worth getting the Kirby because it come with a warranty that you can't beat. If it breaks they will fix it and if they can't fix it, I get a new one. I know it is more money than you intended on spending, it was for me to but it is a life saver. It also comes with a shampoo attachment that gets out all the old pet stains so I also saved money on replacing my carpet too.
Q:I own a VAX V-045 upright bagless vacuum cleaner. All of a sudden, the bottom/base suction doesn't work anymore. I use the hand held bit now to do all the cleaning. Can someone suggest me how to troubleshoot, change if a belt is broken or direct me to a repair manual? Thanks.
Here's okorder /... See page 8 for the changing the belt and page 10 for trouble shooting.
Q:Hi All,Could you recommend some vacuums cleaners which are best for hardwood and tile floors? The one I have now picks up the big stuff ok but leaves behind some pet hair and the smaller dirt/dust particles. I usually have to follow up my vacuuming with the Swiffer. Thanks for your suggestions!
A canister style vac is better as opposed to one of the upright vacs. Why? Because with a canister vac, the hose attachment has special attachments made espcially for hard floors. It is easy to manuever the long arm of the hose around too, where as an upright is large and bulky and won't go into tight corners. I have had a Sears cannister style vac for years with my hard floors and I love it. there is no susbstitute. There is a carpet attachment too, which makes it the most versatile vaccum out there.
