- Since you can't use the colors black or white, I would suggest a yellow or gold color that complements the paint color. Not an exact match but in the family. Why don't you just take the ottoman and picture out? Then you wouldn't be as limited to colors.

- only frm personal experience.... if you purchase a cheap sofa, you will get a cheap sofa. It will not last , it will fall apart and you will need a new one twice as soon. Look hard, and long. go classic. something that will not scream 2006. it will be better . you won't hate it in 6 months. get the BEST you can afford, whatever that amount might be. unless you only plan on keeping it for very short period of time... then go inexpensive
- Q: I have recently come into possession of a really good couch. The ONLY problem being is that it has stains on it, and smells a little. Besides that, it's brand spankin' new and in nice condition (no rips or tears) / everything in tact. - Q: The sofa is positioned on an angle against a corner wall, creating an empty triangle space behind it. The ceilings are high. I need to put something behind the couch so that it's not just dead/empty space. I have a sofa table behind it for now, but everything I put on the table seems too short against the high ceilings. - I had exactly the same problem in our living room which has 2 story high walls. I too use a sofa table behind it with a plant perched on some books for height, a tall statue and a lamp. I also found hanging art on one wall of the corner and a ledge with some tall items placed on it creates a vignette and brings the ceiling down.

- Get it on on the couch. And then ask her if she wants to try the kitchen table next. All of your ideas are ingenious. You should just try them at the same time. Or throw the sofa out. Or lie on the sofa so if she has to get on, she can lie on you.

- No when you sleep on them, you can feel the steel bar under the mattress. If you put a thick layer of foam over them, it helps because the mattresses are usually too thin.

- You didn't say what color the sofa is. If its black I would wipe any smoke off and clean with armorall. I have done it and the armorall cleans leather awesome. You don't want to put much on the leather for odor so I would even put outside if you can to deodorize. If you can't then you can spray Lysol right on it. Kind of spray above it so it just lands on the sofa in a mist. It does remove the odor and doesn't leave marks.
