Q: I need a low profile extention to the exsiting power cable so it can run along the skirting to the mains socket.I was thinking of joining flex wire to the existing cable, wrapping the 3 cores with heatshrink, and then wrapping the whole thing with white insulation tape. the guy from maplin told me I could do this but then I''ve heard that this is a bad idea (and probably against UK safety regulations).
Assuming the current cord is rated properly, if you extend it, you will need to make the extension one size larger to avoid voltage drop, and overheating of the wire. Doing what you suggest is likely to produce a stiff section that is awkward to handle. I prefer to have a plugin connection so if someone trips over it or pulls a chair with the leg behind it, it will unplug instead of dragging the heater.
Q: or do I need to buy one?
No, the PS3 is a 3 prong outlet cable, and the PS2 is 2 prong. Also the end that plugs into the console is different for both. You can use a PC power cord for the PS3 if needed, the ends are the same.
Q: ...suction cup mount? There is a port on the side of the device that the vehicle power cable fits into, but the manual says the vehicle power cable is designed to plug into the suction cup mount. What happens if I plug the vehicle power cable directly into the gps unit? Does the unit operate, but not charge? Does it not operate at all? Does it operate and charge? Before trying it, I'd like to know so I don't harm the device.
According to the Nuvi 370 instruction manual - this unit appears to be designed to receive power only through the suction cup mount. In other words - the vehicle power adapter connects to the suction cup mount, and when you attach the device to the mount - it receives the power it needs to operate. Looking at the photo in the owner's manual and the identified ports and controls - the device does not appear to have a direct connect power/charge port to which the vehicle power cable can directly connected. If your device does in fact have a charge/power port on its side that the vehicle power cable can directly connect to, then you should be able to make that connection without any problem. It should operate and charge your device just fine. Note: Your unit has a USB port for connecting the device to a computer for updates and for charging (via the USB port). If you want to charge the device without using the suction cup mount (and therefore the vehicle power cable to which it connects), you have the option of buying a vehicle USB power converter/adapter that plugs into your vehicle's 12V power outlet. Then you would simply connect a USB cable from the USB power adapter to your device to charge it. Update: Reading the instructions in the owner's manual a little more closely - it would appear that you can certainly plug in the AC power adapter directly to the unit, although they are not really clear about it. (The manual could have been written a little more clearly in my opinion.) So again, I will reiterate that if the vehicle power adapter connector will mate directly to the device - then it will power and charge the device without having to use the suction cup mount, if that is your desire. BTW, congrats on your new Garmin 370 GPS unit. Really nice!
Q: computer MB does not contain a power supply connector for the SATA power cable leading to the SATA HD, is this the norm? the cable connector is 5 prong female, there is no 5 prong male connector on the MB or the PSU. any suggestions?

Q: Cable WDZ-YJFE2 (4X185 + 1X95) what does it mean Cable WDZ-YJFE2 (4X185 + 1X95) What does it mean? More
According to the specification requirements: 8.10 cable bridge wiring 8.10.4 cable bridge horizontal laying, should be selected according to the load curve to support the best span, span should be 1.5-3m. Vertical laying, the fixed point spacing should not be 2m. Assuming that the height of the electrical shaft is 60 m and the fixed point spacing is 2 m, then the number of stents required is: (60/2) * 2 = 60 Assuming that the height of the electrical shaft is 60 m and the fixed point spacing is 1.5 m The number is: (60 / 1.5) * 2 = 80 mainly depends on your shaft height, and the bridge fixed point spacing, hope to help you, (* ^ __ ^ *)
Q: I have a Karcher power washer which was left outside over night. An animal chewed threw the power cable and so is unusable. I was wondering how to re-connect the power cord together, safely. I do not want to cross wires and use electrical tape. I was thinking of using a connector, but unsure of whether to use a two pinned or three pinned connector.
You can install a plug on the cord to replace the one that was chewed off. Choose one with the same number of prongs as the cord has wires (2 or 3). Be sure to attach each wire to the correct terminal! Splicing the cord is also OK, and tape would not be a problem if applied properly, but I prefer to use heat-shrink tubing. When I do a top-grade splice, I first twist the wires tightly together without making a tail, then I solder them.
Q: i replaced my ps2 power ribbon cable with a slightly diffrent ribbon cable but it had all the connections just like the original one. i plugged in my ps and i heard that slight clicking sound of the electricity entering the ps2's cuircut such as it always has when it was working fine. but when i plug the ps2 in the lights on the power buttons wont come on and they havent come on no matter whitch way i turn the cable. i would really like to get back to KH2 bugt this is getting annoying. what is up with my ps2 that even though everything is connected i cant seem to get the power lights to come on. help!
reassemble it again .pull out out the power cord and reattach it .it happened to me and thats what i did
Q: The power cable troughs are divided once and twice
The function of the cable connector is used for the protection of the cable
Q: I got two hard drives. The cable connecting the hard drive has 2 connectors, does it matter which connector goes to the master drive and which goes to the slave drive? same question regarding the power supply. 2 connectors on the power cable, the order matters?
Ok, depending on how you set it up, cable select, and or master/slave, master slave setup it does not matter on the cable positions, cable select the end port on the cable is secondary.......
Q: Sometimes I have to jiggle the chord or plug it in the right position to get the laptop to be charged. At first, I thought it was the power cable, but after buying a new one, I still have the same problem. Any suggestions as to what causes this and how to fix it?
The power jack internal to the laptop, is probably faulty, not the cable. If your laptop is under warranty I would look at filing a claim to get it fixed.
