- Q: I recently purchased a new power cable for my HP laptop (v6000 series) due to the disappearance of my old one. When I first plugged in the laptop, I noticed that it did not charge. I thought this might just be due to the fact that the battery has been dead for an extensive amount of time, but after leaving the computer plugged in over night, nothing has changed.What can I do to make my laptop's battery charge?Do I need to have a more powerful power cable?Thank you all for your help.
- You may have bought a faulty power cable that does not connect fully with your adapter.Have you checked if the power indicating diode on your laptop is working? if not lighting or humming then it could be faulty. Check also if your Laptop power port is intact.

- Q: Hi, Recently I bought nikon S550 digi camera from U.S, their power supply is different from India. In the power cable they mentioned 125 7A, do i need any convertor or directly i can use.
- India power outlets run 220v, not 120, so you are going to need a converter or a completely new power-supply.
- Q: is it possible to run a 2-wire AC power cable (2x2.5mm2 or thicker) from the telephone junction box to the inside of the house instead of using an ordinary thin phone cable? will that affect the voice quality or maybe an ADSL setup? the distance is approximately 50 meters.thanks a lot.
- Two conductors are two conductors, unless there are high-frequency issues. In this case it appears that if you are replacing parallel (not twisted) wires with another set of at least equal thickness, you should be okay. Since ADSL is used on parallel wires, without twisting them, the frequencies conducted should not present problems.
- Q: I live in Chicago, and I want to know if somebody can help me. The next house on mine have electrical power cable, telefon and cable from my back yard and pas my propriety aprox 60 tf, the last two stay on my garage, its legal ?Know haw i can do to move the cable? some codes or regulation, samething? - I do not know the codes or regulations in Chicago but i do know in most states it against the law to have power lines resting on a structure. Those two lines resting on the garage could be the cable and phone company's and that is not against the law. However you could call the phone company and cable company and ask them to move them for you. If you can make a valid point that those lines are causing you harm or disturbing you in anyway possible then the company's will have to move it. And for the power cables there is probably nothing you can do unless it is really resting on your garage. But they will just tighten the line and not actually move it.
- Q: will leaving the power cable in for my laptop hurt the battery?
- Newer batteries cannot be overcharged but it is not advisable to leave the power cable plugged in when the battery is at a full charge. It will not hurt the battery but overtime your battery will not sustain a charge for as long as it should. My best advice would be to fully charge and let your battery drain to near completion and then recharge. Give your battery the exercise it was meant to have.
- Q: I have had my Sony Laptop for about 2-3years. And only recently is it acting weird.When I have my power plugged in, the laptop runs fine and can be on as long as the power cable is in. But as soon as I take my power cable out, it automatically shuts down.I checked the power management, and it says my battery has 0% power. I have tried taking the battery out and putting it back in, but it still does not work.The lights on my laptop indicate it is charging, but it does not put any power into my battery and the only way it can run is if my power cable is plugged in. - your battery is most likely dead and in need of replacement. 2-3 years on a battery is about the life span of a rechargeable battery. you should be able to get a new battery very easily.
- Q: The specs say: 350 Watts, DC 12V, 100-240V. It is a Rackable server.Are there special / different power cables to use with servers than desktop PCs?Where can I find the power cable with the above specs. I tried OKorder with not much luck.
- Nope. A 350 watt supply comes nowhere near drawing more than an ordinary household 15 AMP circuit can carry (about 3 AMPs at full load). Actually, rack-mount systems often draw less power than standard desktop systems if they are engineered correctly. An ordinary 3-prong plug (like those sold on all desktops in the US) will do just fine. As a rule of thumb, if the cord feels warm, consider a larger size.
- Q: I have a ZXi8008 and there's a cable that goes out to the head unit to turn on the amplifier, which is different than the power cable. But in this car, i have not installed a new head unit. Where do I hook up this cable otherwise? It needs a constant power supply to be on.
- i would hook it up to the power cable from ur stero that whay the amp will only come on when the radio comes on. that way u wont drain ur battery, thats if ur talking about the remote cable
- Q: Should I call 911 if a frayed power line fell in my driveway?
- Call the power company. Make sure you do not touch the line. Do not allow your children or pets near the line. There is nothing the police can do so calling 911 is not appropriate.
