- Q: I live in the UK and I am going on holiday to Taiwan/Japan where the voltage is 110/100v as opposed to 220 here (i think).I was wondering if I could use a power extension cable (with multiple sockets) so that i would only need one adaptor to connect the extension to the mains and then I could just simply plug my 3 pin plugs into the cable saving me money and sockets. As it would be a lower voltage, I assume that there shouldn't be any problems with power however, if there are any electricians or anyone who has done this before I would really appreciate some guidance just to ensure that this is safe. Thanks is advance.
- An extension cord is just more wire. Wire doesn't care about voltage. (The insulation does care about voltage, but they're all rated to handle up to at least 300v). Same with terminal strips (multiple sockets). In either case, you're problem is not handling the voltage, but handling the different plug styles from one country to the next. In the UK, the prong are round, where in Japan, the prongs are bladed.
- Q: The power company are doing some work on our road. and are going to be moving the terminal thing on the side of our house (2nd floor side wall) where the electric comes to the house and feeds both ours and next door (semi-detached). We have seen some dwellings that have a long UPVC bright orange plastic pipe covering the cable for a few meters and wondered why they do this?
- It is to protect the cable and people and animals. It stops animals chewing and protects in case of hitting the cable.
- Q: Does anyone with an Xbox 360 or someone that knows stuff about AC power cords tell me if the Belkin Standard Power Cable can be used with the xbox 360?Best answer gets 5.
- Yep its the same thing as the 1 that came with the Xbox 360 but not made by Microsoft. Only problem is you'll still need the power block that came with the xbox 360.
- Q: I want to put a poe switch into the patch panel and power a few runs throughout the office. Can the end users use the drop as a standard way to plug into a computer or add a switch if they need to split the internet? What if they want to add their own POE switch at the end of the drop?I can't beleive I haven't seen this question asked already! Anywhere on the intternet!thanks for answering
- am i able to easily say all of it? LOL i assume no longer yet Mr Poe is in all danger my prominent author. Poems Annabelle Lee - The Raven is greater properly-elementary yet this one confirmed me greater emotion. 2nd place might pass to Lenore. third place to Tamerlane short thoughts - now that's the place it gets genuine no longer uncomplicated to choose. a million - The remarkable journey of one Hans Pfaal - no longer properly elementary yet a large tale that became lighter than maximum of his artwork. it quite is a few holiday to the moon in a particular balloon. LOL 2 - The Gold trojan horse - quite a treasure hunt with Poe's weird and wonderful twists alongside the way. 3 - The Black Cat - My prominent creepy tale by technique of Poe - he might desire to have on no account killed that cat. 4 - The Literary existence of Thingum Bob, Esq. - a large humorous tale. - it isn't long yet a relaxing study. 5 - The Purloined Letter - I had a complicated time finding out on my prominent Detective tale . It became between this and Murders interior the Rue Morgue - quite I tossed a coin and chosen this one. LOL BQ - understanding you and your love for animals i might wager The Black Cat - The cat wins interior the tip. EDIT - only wanting to work out if Yahoo will enable me edit now. LOL i might decide to function that this became a large question. i admire classic literature.
- Q: I have a hard drive that has an enclosure is there any way to take an internal 3.5hard drive and convert it to an only usb cable portable hard drive with no power cord?
- No. Not a 3.5 hard drive. You can do it with a 2.5 laptop drive because the drive mechanics and electronics require less power. A 3.5 drive requires too much power for USB to provide. Though... In the near future, you will see USB ports that are capable of supplying more power than the standard .5 amps that USB currently provides. So after they come out, you might see it being a possibility then.
- Q: Why cross bonding in power cable?
- If so, the answer is: By tying multiple cables together, the current carrying capacity of the total cable is increased without having the total cost increase in proportion. In other words -- using the picture as an example -- tying 4 equal sized cables together increases the current carrying capacity by a factor of 4, but the cost of this multiple-wire cable is less than the cost of a larger single cable that would carry an equal amount of current. .
- Q: I have been looking all over the internet for one of the previously stated cords, and I just can't seem to find one. I really don't know much about power cords, but a monitor a friend gave me needs a 12V, 4.0A DC power cable.I would prefer to use a site like newegg, OKorder or cables unlimited (or a large retailer like Walmart).
- You okorder
- Q: I have a two year old HP Compaq 6710s laptop, and since yesterday, the second I plug in my power cable, my CPU usage goes up from a normal amount to 100% immediately, making my computer really really slow. Is there anything I can do to fix this? Do you think there's something wrong with the cable or the computer?
- In most laptop configurations there are things that are setup to run only when the laptop is plugged in. For example, antivirus scans, adware scans, and such can be set so that they only run when plugged in. It is possible that the unit has been unplugged for awhile and the system suddenly recognizes its plugged in and all the software tries to run thus bogging it down. This is only a hypothesis. The best way to know for sure is to check the Task Manager to find out whats hogging everything. If you don't know, you can open the task manager by either doing CTRL-ALT-DELETE and selecting task manager or by going Start-Run and type in 'taskmgr'. In the window, the applications tab should show what apps are running, the Processes tab should show you all the processes and their memory consumption, and the Performance tab should show you all your memory and CPU untilization. I would start with the Processes tab and see what is consuming the most memory. You can sort by size by clicking on the MemUsage column heading. The processes with the highest memory are the ones to start with. ALso check the Applications tab and see what is running at the time. I would check these while running on battery, and then plug the system in and check them again to see what is different. Whatever has changed is most likely the culprit.
- Q: Will this cable work with an iPhone 4s? On the website they only mention iPods, but I want to see if anyone has any experiences with this. It's a make-or-break deal for me. thanks
- no offence but its a rip. go to walmart and buy an AUX cable they are 8 bucks and they will fit ipods phones and all that good stuff.
- Q: i have a 97 chevy malibu and i need to know where to run the power cable through the fire wall. or where could i get a diagram that is simple enough for me to understand...
- if you can fit under you dash you can see that mostly all cars and i say all cars becuase iv been doing this for over 10yrs and all cars have a wire that comes from the stearing colum that goes through a rubber gasket into your engine. What we do is the gasket already has a hole in it push your chair as far back as can go and shimmy under the dash bring a flash light becuase its sometimes hard to see and youll see a round black rubber type thing with a wire already running through it. Thats the one to use you might need a long metel thin rod or use a meter coat hanger. Using black electrical tape, tape some of the power wire to the tip of the hanger and push it through the exsisting whole as far as you can then go into your engine and you should be able to see the wire then just pull it to the length you need to wire to the batter dont forget to install a fuse at least 30amps or more depending on how many watts amp your running it for. Dont worry if the little round gasket pops out it can some times do that once your finished with pulling it out and you know your not going to be pulling on the wire again. Then you can actually push the gasket back into place that only if it popped out if it didnt then your good to go.
