- It's never a good idea to swap out only two tires on a car, regardless of the drive type (FWD, RWD, AWD). It will affect the handling characteristics of the car negatively, depending on the situation. Sounds like the SRX's AWD sytem is front biased (more torque is being sent to the front wheels, so the car has FWD-like characteristics during normal driving), so your front tires wore out faster than the rear. Your best bet would be to change all four tires. Hope that helps

- no you don,t have to have the tires balanced again just by taking them off and putting them back on. even if you rotate your tires you don,t have to have them balanced again. the only time you need to have them balanced is if you lose a weight or have a tire broke down or when your buying a new tire you have to have them balanced. balancing tires is so the tires will roll evenly.
