Q:I want to get my tires siped if it really works to improve traction on ice and snow. Does it really work?

Q:Can car tires cut?
Car tires cut, improve the speed of travel.
Q:I currently have Michelin Pilot Exalto A/S (215/60R16 95V) tires in my car. I want to switch to low profile, wider tires. I was looking at the Michelin Pilot Sport AS 3 (225/50R16 92Y). Can you switch the size of the tires like that? I have 2008 Hyundai Sonata SE
your speedo will only change slightly like 1mph. the tires you're looking at are wider than your originals and may give you a little bulge which can give you minor sway around corners, that you will not be able to notice. i personally do not recommend going to a lower profile tire because the biggest impact is made on comfort, and the lower you go, the more crap you feel while driving around and you risk bending a rim on a pot hole or something. the lower profile tires are a little more visually appealing, but try and steer clear from attempting to turn your sonata into eye candy. if you're just trying to pick those lower profile tires because they're a lot less expensive, then i'd say go for it! the pros and cons are small
Q:Why are snow tires different is it the pattern or the rubber. Whats up. I have summer tires only on my car do i really need to spend 4 hundreds dollars on snow tires or is there not much difference. Just wandering!!!
Yes there is a major difference. The winter tires or snow tires which you refer to them as have increased tread depth. What that means is the grooves on the tires are deeper which increase the amount of traction that you get in wintry or icy conditions. Summer tires would limit your traction causing you to possibly lose control on those conditions. That is why many decide to get all season tires because they are less expensive and you don't have to change them due to the conditions. All season tires are better because the traction adapts to the conditions based on the way they are built. So I would recommend purchasing those because they will be better in the long run. At the moment you have no choice but to spend because if you try to drive in wintry conditions with summer tires, then you won't get the traction you need to drive safely.
Q:Hi,I've just had VW dealership replace 4 tires on a 2004 Touareg. They forwarned me that because of VW design, they might have to replace sensors after changing tires because they sometimes break while taking tires off rims. They also noticed valve stems were uncapped and corroded, which they surmise probably led to further corrosion in all 4 tire sensors. They then claimed they had to drill out all 4 tire sensors to replace wheels AND needed to replace those too (at $225 each plus labor). After test drive, they still can't get the system to stop reporting tire problems (even after 10 miles).Does changing a tire really that adversely affect a tire sensor even when done by the Pros?Is it suspicious to not have valve stem caps?Is it odd for both the stems and tire sensors to be so corroded that both have to be replaced?
Toureg's are pain in the asses. The wheel sensors are made so poorly that if you sneeze on them they break, It doesn't matter who is replacing your tires, the sensors break, Valve stem caps would have no effect on the sensor as the caps are outside the tire, and the sensors are inside the tires. This is how the dealer convinced you to buy the parts. To blame it on you. The stems and sensors are two seperate units that screw into each other. I could imagine that they would fuse together if they got corroded enough. But you better be on the East Coast for me to believe that. So these Touregs are SO PICKY with their tire pressures that the tire pressure has to be set with a DIGITAL tire guage. Not to whatever you want, but to what is programmed into the tire pressure monitoring system in your instrument cluster. So first you have to see what the cluster says the pressure should be then set them with a Digital Gauge to those numbers. I had one last week that got a flat tire. So we took it to get the tire replaced. After that, the system wouldn't set after a 40 mile test drive. I used a Factory Scanner and saw that it wasn't reading the left rear sensor, which was the tire I just got replaced. So I took it back to the tire store with a new sensor and had them replace the sensor and went on a test drive. When I came back, now it didn't see either sensor on the left side, SO I switched the wheels from one side of the car to the other and took it on a test drive. Still nothing on the left side. It turned out that the Control Module freaked out when a tire got put on the car with a broken sensor and it decided to stop working too. Moral of the Story.YES it could happen And I wouldn't surprise me if your Toureg needs a control Module now!
Q:i went to align my car today. the mec told me they aligned the wheels but a pull to the right is till there. they said my tires are worn uneven and that i would need tire balancing. i called discount tire and they said tire balance wouldnt help at all.help
there are, in general, 3 reasons for excessive tire wear. 1: tire pressure not within spec. 2: lack of rotation. 3: bad alignment. a pull to the right could be caused by a low tire, which will cause uneven tire wear. make sure to keep what the manufacturer suggests in each tire, generally speaking it's 30 psi for passenger cars and 35 psi for light duty trucks. after you've verified proper tire pressure, you'll need to look back on your maintenence history and find when the last tire rotate was. if it was more than 6,000 miles, it's time for a rotate. the drive wheels go straight forward or back and the non drive wheels criss cross to the front or back. this will ensure that the tires make their way completely to each corner before going back to their original position. if properly rotated, tires can last twice as long. bad camber angles or improperly set toe-in or toe-out will cause the fastest tire wear. if you had yours aligned, and you trust the repair facility , you should look into the other realms of tire wear. however, if you think you might have gotton jipped, go back and explain your point of view. hope this helps NOTE: tire imbalance has nothing to do with alignment angles or tire wear. it is simply an inconvienence going 65 down the interstate. vibrations can vary widely from 1st order, to 4th order.
Q:Is it best to follow your vehicle‘s recommended psi for tire pressure (in my case, 35psi), or if you have a high performance tire that can take more (my new tires have a max of 51psi) is it best to get close to the tire‘s max, or stick with the car‘s recommended pressure? *My new tires have a max of 51, so I inflated them to 45 but it seems my mileage has gotten a little worse? Wouldn‘t more pressure give you better mileage, especially if the tire can handle it?Thanks for intelligent answers!
Higher performance tires will only create more friction between the tire and road and possibly reduce mileage. Its always best to follow the recommended psi for the tire you have. Under inflation can cause excessive wear but better grip with the road at a reduced gas mileage, and over inflation (even a few PSI higher than the recommended) can also cause premature wear of the inside track of the tires.
Q:I just got my two front tires replaced on my car. My old tires were 90V's and they have been replaced with 89V's. Would it be a big deal if my rear tires were 90V's. I was always under the impression the letter was the most important aspect of a tire and should match.
I think you need to verify it with your nearer garage....!!!! You will get better info from them but they should be authenticated...!!!
Q:I need your opinion on goodyear weatherhanders tires and goodyear intergity tires. please give as much detail with experience as possible. thanks
self explanatory. four wheels being driven at same time distributing power to each wheel. in 2 wheel mode will deselect ( unless continuos drive) and allow just two wheels to be driven. normally rear but can be just front two. standard two wheel drive is very common for most cars and simply has engine driving front or rear pair of wheels only.
