- Q: How often do they change airplane tires and why/what are they filled with?
- Tires are replaced when the cords show, some tires allow up to 12 layers of nylon cords to show before requiring replacement. They are usually filled with nitrogen because it is resistant to temperature changes.
- Q: My current tires are 195/70/14, I will be getting 205/55/16. My current tire PSI is 32. What will my new tire pressure be?
- There should be a sticker from the car manufacturer. It will be on the drivers side door jamb or in the glove box. It lists the recommended tire pressure for that particular car. This pressure will give you the best performance and handling on your particular car. The rear tire pressure is normally 2-3 PSI lower than the front tires. It will also give you different PSI ratings for if you have anyone in the back seat or stuff in the trunk. (This would require a slightly higher PSI in the rear to make up for the added weight.) The PSI number on the sidewall of any tire is a MAXIMUM PSI that should be put into that tire. Since you are going from a 14 inch tire to a 16 inch tire, it might throw off the car manufacturers number. You are going from a 70 series to a 55 series also though. This should almost even out the difference in 14-16. The main factor is probably the 195 to the 205. As long as you don't get any rubbing when turning the wheel all the way left or right, the tires should be fine on your car. You could always ask the dealer which pressure. I wouldn't go by what the guys at the tire store say though. Every time I have ever bought tires, they put all of them at 32-34 PSI. (Some tire shops have different ideas of what the ideal tire PSI is.)
- Q: I need your opinion on goodyear weatherhanders tires and goodyear intergity tires. please give as much detail with experience as possible. thanks
- Below are peoples reviews on the integrity tires, could not find info on the weather handlers. If you look at the ranking of the intergritys they rank 18th out of 21 tires surveyed, follow the links and see all 18 tires which scored better in this survey. Interestingly the Goodyear Assurance tires came in first in the survey.
- Q: Are boggers good for a daily driver? Or are the Irok tires any good?
- Boggers are awesome in the mud. They are Horrible on the street. (as far as wear. but they look Awesome)! The TSL / Irok is a good all around tire, but is still not going to last very long on the street. Any full on / hardcore mud tire is not going to last if driven mainly on the street. If the majority of your driving will be on pavement, get an aggressive all-terrain. Your other option would be getting boggers for off-road having an extra set of road tires for every-day.
- Q: I am looking to replace all 4 tires and was wondering what to do with the old tires? Does anyone know what‘s the best thing to do with the old worn out tires? I live in Columbus, OH.
- Dont get a trans flush Dont get any work done a Jiffy Lube--or any similar outfit. Drain the transmission pan and refill. This does not get all the fluid out so do this about once a week for a while. I am assuming there is a drain plug on your trans pan. Make sure you use the recommended trans fluid as specified by the owners manual--no substitutes.
- Q: truck tires
- Michelin has been out a long time. I never had no problem. Bridgestone seems just as nice as Michelin and seemed less expensive when I had them no problems either.
- Q: I was having some shaking while driving and braking. I was told I probably have a bad tire. They tires were rotated and I was told its 90 percent better but one of my tires is probably not good to go back to where I got them. They were put on in the last year. What does this mean, a bad tire?
- the belts in tires can separate and make a twist in the tread of the tire. that's normally what they mean by a bad tire. A separated tire will normally be noticeable at a slow speed. If it's on the front the steering wheel will shake. Any slow speed vibration is usually a separated tire and I suspect that's what you have.
- Q: I need to buy tires for my car, but this is the first time I am buying tires. I have offers from Sullivan Tires and Town fair tires. Sullivan tires is offering me YOKOHAMA AVID TRZ for $70.87 (with 13.99 for balancing and $60 for alignment) while The Town fair tire is offering me BRIDGESTONE INSIGNIA SE200 for $72.00/tire (with 12.95 for balancing and front alignment INCLUDED). Which TIRE / DEAL should I go for? I will really appreciate any suggestions since I am completely new with this tire buying thing.
- I think Yokohamas are better tires. You get what you pay for with alignment. Read the small print. You should get front and rear alignment at the same time. $60 is a bargain if that's front and rear. When they check your alignment you will see that your wheels are nor aligned anymore. Every pothole and speedbump you've hit over the years has messed with the alignment. You will get better tire wear and driveability with the wheels aligned.
- Q: Should I change my tires already?
- All tires have different mileage lifes. I went nearly 60,000 miles on a set of michilens. Proper balance, rotation at 10,000 mile intervals will increase the life of tires. I know Goodyear Eagles are soft tires and usually do not have a very long life. Depends on the grade of rubber. Also proper inflation helps care for tires. Driving habits, types of roads play in wear as well. Also the front end being aligned correctly helps them last longer as well.
- Q: how to do a tire rotation?
- Don''t listen to Skag, because it is important and does make a difference. Radial tires should be rotated in the same direction they where originally going. If not you stand the chance of thread separation inside the tire and a blow out. Basically if you take the front right and put it on the left rear visa versa and the front left tire to the right rear visa versa it will make them go in the wrong direction. To keep yourself from confusing yourself after taking them off, take a marker and draw an arrow on the tire in the direction it is originally spinning and go from front right to rear right and left front to left rear.
