Q:I just found a nail stuck in the tire of my truck. It‘s down, between the tread, not in the thicker part. It‘s not losing air so should I leave it alone or should I pull the nail and plug the tire. Also, if I plug the tire, does that shorten the life span of the tire?
Yes plug nail out and shove a plug in. I have used plugs in tires for the last 15 years and never ad a prob. I don't know what all this BS about don't use plugs is about. I guess something else to save us from our selfs, or the fact alot of people now are morons with no common sense and can't install a plug right. Oh well, to each their own. For me I will keep plugging nail holes in all of my street tires
Q:Can the car tire burst?
But you are going to intend to put the wheel ring replaced
Q:Hey guys well I want to know what psi I should set my tires to. The manual says 35 at most. The tires are Yokohama Type S(I KNOW, NOT THE BEST TIRE OUT THERE BUT ITS OK) on the tires it says 51psi MAX. I was told that you should always go 5psi under the max. Is this true? Or should I always fill it up to the MAX? Also which psi do I fallow the 35max on the manual or the 51psi MAX on the tire?
For the best answers, search on this site shorturl.im/avEoo That is because the tire does not tell you the tire pressure you should use - how could it? The tire has no idea if it is mounted on a BMW, a Pontiac or a Toyota so how could a recommended inflation pressure possibly be listed there? All the tire tells you is a safety warning about the maximum load the tire can support at its maximum inflation pressure. That is a safety warning, not a suggestion. Go ahead, read it again. The recommended inflation pressure is the one on the car.
Q:can i repire small hole in the sidewall of my tire?
sidewall repair? doubtful that it will stay AND has a higher risk of bursting the sidewall, now that it's compromised. Best begin looking for a new tire.
Q:I had snow tires put on my car in November. I now want to switch them out for my summers. When the shop took my summer wheels/tires off they did not label which tire was where. The tires only had 4k miles on them when removed. Will it matter where I mount the summers? If so, is there a way to determine which tire was where so that I can properly rotate them?
with only 4k on them, not really. just have them put the two that take the most weight to balance on the rear of the car. unless they are directional tires then you put the one of the two per side with most weight on the rear.
Q:The tires are Traction A and Temperature B, I need to drive where chains are required but I need to know can I drive my car with those tires with out chains??
Chains required is something they make tractor trailers do, not cars. A good all-season will do nearly as well in snow as a dedicated snow tire. Snow tires make more sense for people who use high performance tires in the summer. If you're going to drive thousands of miles in the snow, snow tires might make sense. If you're just going to be up there for a trip here and there, don't bother. Once there's a lot of snow you won't be able to drive unless you have a vehicle with a serious off-road package anyways.
Q:What are the difference between tires? Is buying any Goodyear tire just fine? Or is one really better than the other?1) What should I look for and how?2) How much am I generally looking to spend on one decent tire?
Look on the outside wall for a four number code, 0412, refers to week and year it was made. Depends on your driving habits, how far and what kind of conditions you experience. Figure to spend about $100 per tire, sometimes it is better to replace two at the same time, with the best ones on the front.
Q:I want to change all 4 tires with the other size. Will it be OK?
It should be OK. The change in ratio between the thickness and the width is ever so slight it won't make much of a difference.
Q:Me again. Which bike tyre size is wider?a 700x38C tyre or a 26x1.75 inch tyre?
it;s one or the other, for a given bike, they fit 2 diffferent bike types hybrid for the 700c mtb for the 26 or touring bike maybe actually you may not be able to tell which is even wider without actually buying or seeing them tire widths frequently do not match their ratings, annoyingly usually they are - well i can;t even say if they are usually narrrower or wider than their numbers. i think that even varies so CANT TELL wont fit same bike anyway Dishonesty in Sizing Competitive pressures have often led to inaccuracy in width measurement. Here's how it works: Suppose you are in the market for a high-performance 700 x 25 tire; you might reasonably investigate catalogues and advertisements to try to find the lightest 700-25 available. If the Pepsi Tire Company and the Coke Tire Company had tires of equal quality and technology, but the Pepsi 700-25 was actually a 700-24 marked as a 25, the Pepsi tire would be lighter than the accurately-marked Coke 700-25. This would put Pepsi at a competitive advantage. In self defense, Coke would retaliate by marketing an even lighter 700-23 labeled as a 700-25. This scenario prevailed throughout the '70's and '80's. The situation got so out-of-hand that cooler heads have prevailed, and there is a strong (but not universal) trend toward accurate width measurements. sheldon brown web page
Q:What is the difference between soft and hard tyres?
A softer tire will grip better, but wear faster. A hard tire will have less grip, but last longer. Some newer tires have a hard compound in the middle sipes and a soft compound for the outer shoulder blocks since the outer parts of the tire grip more in turns. There's no tire that lasts a long time, is sporty and great in all weather. Also, weather is a factor. Many tires are meant for summer and are usually soft tires, but snow tires are also pretty soft. The different temperature tires are basically useless outside of their temp range. A winter tire will wear quickly in the summer and a summer tire will have no grip in cold weather. Tires are pretty advanced and there are a lot of variables beyond hard and soft.
