- Q: I accidentally spilt hot sauce on my carpet any home remedies?!?!
- well if i made a stain on the carpet i would use vinegar and resolve carpet cleaner and a scrubber of course. so use this magic carpet cleaner this stuff really works. it depends on how much you stained the carpet. the amount of vinegar and resolve varies.
- Q: i have large area rugs on my carpet and the are moving and sliding all around. which tape have you had the best experience with? thanks
- Do not place rubber backed area rugs or any rug that cannot breathe over a carpet as the carpet on the bottom will discolor to a yellow tint that is permanent.
- Q: My carpet is starting to leave a bad smell, is there a way I can clean the carpet? With what and how? Please help!
- Hello, I would suggest you can hire the company for cleaning your carpet. The same kind of situation happened to me.I had a terrible carpet with a lot of stains.I called Heavenly Touch Carpet Upholstery Cleaning Company. They really dug deep and got the job done at a great price. They were responsive, professional, nice, and affordable. Call a professional carpet cleaning firm and have them give you an estimate to clean the carpet.Call at (408) 252-5402.You can also visit the website ,Hope this will help: Thanks Pretson
- Q: what is everyones opinion on carpet vs carpet tiles. price ability to keep clean etc. thanks
- Carpet Tiles Vs Carpet
- Q: I just purchased an 8x11 handmade wool rug online. I am not sure if I need a rug pad under it to keep it from slipping or whatever. I've seen a few rubber ones that cost around $80 and some thicker plush ones going for over $100. Is it really worth it?
- You will either need a rug pad or carpet tape to protect your new purchase from slipping and wrinkling. As to which you prefer, it depends on how plush the rug you purchased is. I have a very dense wool rug in my kitchen that is on ceramic tile and used two sided carpet tape to anchor it down. This enables me to have it vacuummed without fighting the edges with the suction and keeps it from wrinkling while doing so. It is thick enough on its own that a rug pad is unnecessary. That being said, I also have another rug under which I have a rug pad mainly to protect the flooring underneath it. It has a rough jute backing that with constant traffic will scratch the floor under it, hence the rug pad.
- Q: I recently moved and in my old place I noticed that my rug stained the linoleum. Now that I have moved, I really want to take care of my new place and was wondering if there is any way to prevent this staining?
- There are a few types out there ,but the one I m familar with is calles Rug Hold.. It s a thin rubberymat you put under your rugs to hold them down and wont react w/ your vinyl like the backing is know to your vinyl.. Ashphalt drives are a big problem (tracking in the oils) because the petroleum based products react w/ each other and causes the yellow stains you see.. Check any product like this and get the 1 for your needs.. They make them for wood and carpet etc The nice thing is they can be tossed in washer when they do lose tackeyness and be renewedGL
- Q: I have a rug in my inside hallway. I'm wondering how I should wash in washing machine? It's a tight knit rug like berber.
- I always wash my bathroom and entry rugs in the washer with a little detergent on the delicate cycle. I do dry them on the no heat setting. If your rug has a rubber backing it may come off and get in your washer. Usually doesn't happen the first time, but if you wash it often it probably will. No biggie though, just wash a load of towels after or just run a rinse cycle with nothing in it. Should help. Then you may get pieces in your dryer vent if you choose to dry it so be sure to clean the lint trap. hope this helps.
- Q: I ordered carpet and was given a brand name and color for the carpet I picked. Now I can't find anything about this carpet manufacturer online. It sounded as if the lady said that the manufacturer was quot;Belrockquot;. Can anyone help me? Maybe I misunderstood the name?Carpet - quot;Belrockquot; (?)Color - quot;Cambridge Goldquot;Style - Twist quot;Friezequot;
- I've never heard of it. It could be that this is the pattern name and not the manufacturer - you may try confirming at the store. Many designers/retailers don't want to give the names of what they are selling, since they don't want to be price-shopped either locally or online. Also, some carpets have several names, even though the manufacturer and the carpet are exactly the same! Larger stores have carpets under private label, but they may be the same as a dozen other carpets on the market. The manufacturers to this to create exclusivity for their dealers. It makes it hard as a consumer, but this is the reality.
- Q: Does anyone have a good recommendation for carpeting with someone who has a lot of pets? I have 2 dogs and 2 cats and want to get carpet in my home but not sure if it's best to get berber or shag or plush..... sigh, so many carpet choices! I currently have hardwood flooring but I'd prefer carpeting. Any suggestions would be very appreciated. Thank you.
- It's not really wise to have any kind of carpet with pets unless they are house trained and even then with cats they just love to sharpen their claws. If you could sand and refinish the hardwood it may be a lot cheaper. If you insist on carpet, Stainmaster has some very tight weave pile that may be suitable. Check out closeout store options. You may get carpet for as little as 50 cents a square yard and quality at that. Good luck! Thanks for the 2 points!!
- Q: Isn't it better to place a CPU on a desk or at least elevate it so that it doesn't touch a carpet or floor? (Even if the carpet is not shag?) I am trying to prove this to my boss but he insists that the computers remain on the rug. Keep in the mind that the computers have 3 intake fans, and a few outtake fans. They are placed in a church/office setting where kids could incidentally kick the computer or something. I also know that when computers are closer to the floor, they take in more dust. Am I not correct, or at least partially correct?
- Yes. Laptops certainly. This is because carpets have a very uneven surface, and they are spongy. What happens is the carpet will rest against the air intakes (which are on the bottom) and restrict air flow in. It also picks up a large amount of dust since carpet has a large surface area to trap such particles. If on a hard desk, the feet provide some elevation for air to move freely underneath so the fan can suck it up for cooling. This is desirable, however, computers will work pretty much anywhere.
