Q: cleaning the carpet: ..is there a stain ? ..if you just want it cleaned..because you want to clean it then you can just vacumm it, but if there is a stain or a bad oudor..then look for someone who can clean it proffesionally.

Any idea how to get it out?: I agree, that it may be too late, but the best thing I have found to take out nasty spots on my berber carpet is Folex. It's almost a miracle in a spray bottle. It's kind of pricy, but well worth it. If you can find it, get it. Good luck. PS-I would have your roomie pay for it :-)

Q: I'm buying a house and need to replace the carpet currently in it. I can't get an estimate on it until I close so I'm looking to get a ball park number. I need to replace about 800 sqft. What price am I looking at to get wood laminate put in verus mid-grade carpet. Thanks.: A mid grade carpet (3$ a s/f) will go in at 2400$ +- .. And laminates 2.5 a s/f for the laminate 2$ a s/f for installation. This will be about 3600$. Now the carpet price can be done at that price for a regular residential carpet and standard pad ( 5 1/2 # minimum) that will hold your warranties. Now these prices won t include any rip out and removal of the existing carpet or un seen floor prep. You may be able to get rip out included if some one wants the work, because of the economy.. Or save your self money by getting a beer and or pizza pal to help you for a day and rip out the carpet yourself.. Any flooring questions you can e mail me through my avatar.. GL

Overall on a medium priced and grade product in each line, carpet generally runs cheap , along with the installation is usually cheaper. Of coarse you can buy a cheap and more expensive product to say I m wrong but on a low medium or high priced item from each , again comparing each , carpet generally is cheaper. Q: Can carpet be laid on floor?: Certainly. The wooden floor with carpet laying will not noly improve overall quality, but also can make a room appear warm and sweet. Thick carpet in the bedroom in winter allows you to sit on the floor with bare foot; the rug in front of the sofa of the living room just perfectly plays a decorative role. The reason for laying carpet on floor is that of course floor is good, but it will give people a sense of rejection becaues of its coolness, and floor appears naked, with a soft carpet of color and strong texture, brings a quiet, comfortable feeling of life quality. The whole bedroom is covered with delicate soft light colored wool carpets. The carpets mix together with the walls, so as to expand the space. Soft and comfortable bedroom can make people relaxed, off the hard day and tension.

Q: Refreshing my memory been a while so wondering how to lay carpet with a seam. Don't have enough carpet so have some extra carpet that looks the same that I need to use so wanting to lay the carpet with a seam so all the carpet will look as one.: Practice - practice - practice First, the carpet pieces all need the fibers going in the same direction....if you can't do that, it won't matter how skilled you are at seaming a carpet, the piles running different dirctions will stand out. Clean cuts - you need a clean cut along the seam, on BOTH pieces to get them to look good when they are joined. Two kinds of tape - adhesive, and 'carpet' tape (which needs a seaming iron). BEFORE the carpet is stretched for the room, the adjacent pieces of carpet need to be joined. This involves making a straight, clean cut on both edges - this cut should match identically. I achieve this by overlapping the two pieces, and using a straight edge, cut through both layers at once. (You need a VERY sharp blade). Next, apply the seaming tape to the underside of the carpet. I prefer to use the professional grade carpet tape, and I own all the necessary carpet tools to do this. If you do not own them, they can be rented from a local business that rents tools and equipment. I wouldnt make the investment in tools for one room of carpet. If you are using carpet tape, cut it to fit the length of the seam (actually allow it to extend beyond the ends of the seam, for a couple of inches) Plug in the seaming iron, allow it to heat up, and then place it UNDER the carpet, but ON the tape. As the seaming iron heats up the tape, slide it along the length of the seam, pulling the carpet edges together behind it, and press them firmly into the tape. (A roller is handy for this) Do NOT overlap the edges, do NOT allow them to pucker...this is why a good clean cut is so important. Allow the tape to cool, and then you can stretch the carpet and trim it out. Have Fun

Q: i found maggots in my carpet.how do i kill them..can i put salt on them..?: Thats the ? Where did they come from. Was there aglob of food, something die on the carpet. Are they coming from underneath, in the wood under the carpet. Spray it with insect killer Pull the carpet back to see where the problem is originating from. Get it professionally cleaned. Try not to throw up on it while you're cleaning it. Ewww

Q: I have an ugly pink-tan carpet that has to go. Underneath the carpet is wood. But the wood is a bit rough and doesn't have any color to it. How do i remove my carpet and fix up the wood floor underneath?: take a knife to the corner and pull it up cut all around the edges and just pull. use some goo-be gone if you need to with the glue. then take one of those power tools that make the floor smooth. (idk what they are called lol) smooth out the floor and stain it :)
