Q: I recently moved a couch and chair which was in the same position for 3 years on carpet. Any suggestions how to raise up the indent that is in the carpet. Thank you.: Depends on the type of carpet you have but there are two tricks that generally work. The 1st way is to set an ice cube(s) on the indent. Carefully work up the pile as the cube melts, A hair pick works well for doing this. The other trick ( if you have a heat set carpet fiber) is to CAREFULLY inject steam into the dent. Use an iron and do steam on the dent as you work at the fibers with a hair pick. You can also put a damp hand towel ( very warm water) on the dent along with a steam injected into the dent. Extreme care must be used doing it this way as not to melt the carpet fibers. Any questions you can e mail me through my avatar. GL

Q: What are the best products or methods I can use to remove the stains my my white carpet in my new apartment? Some of the stains are from pets and some of the other stains are just drinks and other liquids that stained.: Hire a professional carpet cleaner. If you have never cleaned carpet before, you don't want your first experiment on a white carpet. Look locally for an established carpet cleaner. If you want to attempt to spot clean the areas be sure to vacuum well first. You can then put a small amount of dish soap in a bucket of water and use a rag to work the stains out. Better to gently work in a circular motion toward the center of the stain and avoid scrubbing too hard or you will fray the carpet fiber. If you use a harsh chemical it can discolor or stain the carpet. Use a clean towel to blot up the water by pressing it on the spot you clean. Try not to over wet the area as excess water can soak into the pad. Be aware that if there is a lot of soil in the carpet, even though you may successfully remove the stains, the clean areas may stand out as spots against the soiled carpet.

Q: I have these holes in my carpet in multiple places (dog). To replace it, I was going to use the carpet in the closet. How do I do that (step by step instructions)? Where can I find carpet remenants?: Take a utility knife and cut out a piece of carpet large enough to cover the hole from the closet. Be careful not to cut out the padding underneath unless you need it where the doggie made the holes. Place the carpet plug over the hole making certain it meets the remaining carpet. You can secure the plug using a hot glue gun or running double sided carpet tape around the edges. Now use your fingernails to blend the fibers on the plug into the fibers of the surrounding carpet. You can find carpet remnants at almost any carpet store, just ask. Also for larger remnants they sell end rolls at the Home Depot and Lowes.

Q: It doesn't have the plastic quot;stickinessquot; underneath the rug.And if I put that rug securing platic that you buy at convenience stores, won't it get mildewy?: i would get the plasic rubbery stuff that secures the mats. no, it wont get mildewy:)

Q: How do you fix the room carpet?: Carpet all over, glue, or nail wood around the room. It's OK. Use the glue!

Q: I've had this area rug/carpet for a few years. It still looks great, but it has fold marks, and I always have to pull it to even it out, I believe it is caused by the coffee table. Is there a way to undo this?: Use a carpet steam machine, then after it's dry put double stick tape on each corner and stick it to the floor.

You have too many animals and they will ruin your carpet. It's always smart for animal freaks to stick with something they can toss out if their animals soil on it 10 times a day.

Q: got new carpet it stained does they carpet have warranty? and they damaged my walls mad them dirty made wholes and chipped off the paint: Holes in the wall are unacceptable although some scratches on the lower walls and baseboard are to be expected. If you have a stain master carpet it is guaranteed. Check the paperwork that came with it. For the prices they charge they should fix everything.
