Q: My husband and I are expecting our first baby in February; we also rent a two story house. The baby's bedroom has white carpet but it has like... hot pink and purple stains, which I think is either marker or make-up from the prior tenants children. Would a Rug Doctor be able to get out marker/make-up stains?: Have used Rug Doctor, in the past, with great success. I would recommend, however, trying a cheap home made remedy first. I would be afraid to use Windex because it contains ammonia and ammonia can permanently discolor the carpet. If you have any kind of shaving cream, spray that on the stain, wait, and blot up, see if that helps. If it doesn't, I would make sure that when I rented the Rug Doctor, I'd also purchase a bottle of their Rug Doctor spot remover. We used this, with the rented Rug Doctor machine and the results were fantastic. Good Luck.

Q: He has wrecked most of his toys but loves to chew my old living room rug . Please answer x: No. Do you know why? Because he doesn't know the difference between and old rug and a new one. If you allow this, your dog will end up chewing any and all rugs....new, old, cheap, expensive, etc. The same would apply by letting a dog chew an old shoe. They don't and can't know the difference between an old or new one.

Q: I have a Large area rug that I need cleaned. A woman that had a HOUSE TRAINED dog gave it to me. I want to clean it as the dog walked and layed down on this rug as well. Q: My carpet is very stained and is supposed to be tan but because i have three kids and a dog who spill everything they can on it, its now multi colored and i have tried almost every carpet cleaner there is to try and get it clean. Ive used every resolve product, oxyclean, baking soda, and a lot of white vinegar and nothing works! Ive searched in resolved questions about this and got a lot of mixed answers. Some said they did it and it worked great then others said it can make them even worse by making the glue in the carpet fibers come apart. We live in post housing and i already know we are going to have to have the carpet replaced when we leave but that's not for another year or two. Im so embarrassed by it that i don't even like to have our friends over. I would like to know if anybody has bleached their carpets to make them white and if they have did the fibers in the carpets unravel weeks or months later??? Or did everything go okay and the carpets look better???: try vingar baking soda mixed wait till the fizz is gone and then get a washcloth or paper towel fold it dip into the mix press firmly on to the stain i tried it and it worked but im not sure if we have the same carpets mine is also tan

Q: I just replaced my old area rug. The old one was great , I could steam clean it , take it outside and rinse it off and let it air dry. No problems for 4 years, it just got worn out. I replaced it with the same rug from the same store, but the carpet came loose from the backing were I had spot cleaned it. When I vacuumed it pulled out 6 foot of string. I took it back and they replaced it. This new rug, seems a little better, but the backing seems cheap. Is there a way I can re-enforce the backing so the carpet does not come loose from it when I clean it? Would applying carpet seaming adhesive to the entire rug work?: no that wont work. things are being made cheaper these days, you get what you pay for. Sorry!

Budget is also a factor, so he cheaper the better! Thankss: There is a product builders use for new houses. It comes in big rolls and is adhesive on one side and sticks to the carpeting. Just pulls off when you are done. It's about $11 a roll and they have it at Lowe's and Home Depot. If that is too expensive, then get plastic painters' drop cloths. They are clear, don't get ones that are too thin, and just tape the sides to the baseboards with painters' tape. Not very attractive but will save the carpet. They are really huge and can do a whole room.
