- Q: Need new tires for me 02 escalade wondering if anyone could tell me if these tires are good or not if not any other recommendations for around $150 a tire
- I assume you are referring to the Kumho Road Venture AT KL78. Also, I assume you are in need of a LT265/70R17 sized tire. The Road Venture AT KL78 is a decent quality tire. However, there are certainly better quality tires available for the same amount of cash. You do realize the Kumho KL78 is a On-/Off-Road All-Terrain tire, correct? Sure that is what you want for your Escalade? If it is the BFGoodrich Rugged Terrain T/A, Firestone Destination A/T or the General Grabber AT 2 would all be better tires for the money. Only use this type of tire though if you are truly going to be off roading in you Cadillac. Otherwise, consider getting a highway all season tire instead such as the Firestone Destination LE 2 or the Yokohama Geolandar H/T-S G051. They would be much more comfortable and long lasting. FYI, all tires I have mentioned can be had for $150 or less.
- Q: Merchants? Mr tire? I live in Maryland. and I have a toyota corolla so nothing fancy or too expensive but decent
- you should go to the tire store.
- Q: I have got TOYO tires for my town country minivan, these tires been graded B, can anyone explaine what does that mean? and what the differances between B and A grades on tires ? Thanks
- Depends on where that B is on the tire. It could mean that it is a Bias ply tire, R being a Radial tire. There are no grade A-B-C on tires. Benefits of a radial tire are: Better fuel mileage. Softer ride, Less vibration. Extended tire life. Bias ply tire on the other hand give you: Better handling. Less pulling especially on roads heavily rutted. If you are looking at the Load Range listed on the tire then it is telling you the number of ply's Bias or radial that make up the tire. A2 B4 C6 and so on. The higher the range the more load the tire can carry, and the stiffer the ride. Hope that helps.
- Q: Two of my tires got pretty much destroyed by something sharp in the road. One of the tires had a warranty since i just got it last year. It was from pepboys. When the tow truck came he brought me to a tire place since pep boys was far away. I could only afford to buy one new tire, so i got it then used my spare as the other tire. This happened about a week ago so if I go to pep boys can I use the warranty to get a new tire? But i do not have the flat tire with me. The other place got rid of it when they put the new tire on.So will pep boys still accept the warranty without any proof?
- off their site: Replacement Road Hazard Warranty can save you the expense of tire replacement. If your Pep Boys tire becomes unusable due to a road hazard related mishap and cannot be repaired, we will, subject to pro-rated adjustment based upon the remaining usable tread on the tire, replace the unusable tire or give you a refund. While Pep Boys will remount the tire for free, there will be a cost for re-balancing the replacement tire. Coverage extends to such damage as unrepairable tread punctures damage from potholes, nails, glass and jagged metal which cause cuts, snags, punctures, impact breaks, bruises and rim cuts. sounds like you will need to have the tyre to get the warranty. You should always replace tyres in pairs.
- Q: When shopping for tires, I take note of the rating (eg. 100,000 km, 120,000 km etc.) which presumably tells me how far the tires can take me before they need to be replaced. (In the USA, I would see 50,000 mi. etc.)Of course actual wear would vary depending upon weather, road conditions, tire rotations etc.but let‘s pretend I drive in a perfect world which gives me maximum mileage for my tire dollar.Mechanics recommended that I replace my tires when the tread depth is 5mm or less, and at 2mm it is too dangerous or even illegal to drive on them.I was just at a tire store and a brand new tire‘s tread depth seems to average between 9mm and 10mm.When tire manufacturers rate their tires for a given mileage (eg. 100,000 km) do they mean that in a perfect world, if the tread began at 10mm, when my tires are at 2mm tread depth I should have been able to drive 100,000 km.?But if I replace my tires at 5mm, then I really can get only 62,500 km out of them. Do I have all this right?
- First of all the tire ratings are all due to varying factors such as- performance tires are softer and wear out quicker not to meantion the way they are used. Touring tires are rated higher mileage because of the rubber compound is harder, therefor last longer, and even those vary. The difference of the 9mm 10mm really has nothing to do with the mileage rating. This can simply be due to the difference in the manufacturure. replacing them at 5mm seems to soon, you can go down a little more before replacing them. Tires will definitely last longer when regularly aired up and rotated about every other oil change. I always get at least the rated mileage or more.
- Q: My parents moved and the property‘s previous owners left tons of old tires. How can we get rid of them?
- Even if the tires cannot be re-treaded, they are recyclable. Old tires are an ingredient in asphalt. Check with a local tire shop and ask if they will take them. If they won't, ask them if they know who will. All the best.
- Q: i need new tires for my rsx and one of these tires is cheaper than the other, im just wondering why and which would be better for my car.
- Your car requires P205/55ZR16 tires. The difference between the 'ZR' rating and the 'HR' rating is how long a tire can sustain a certain MPH without catastrophic failure. No one in their right mind would sell you a 'H' rated tire on a vehicle that requires a 'Z' rated tire. The potential for an accident or loss of life and the resulting lawsuit would not be worth the risk. You can also be sued if you later sell this car and the buyer has an accident due to the wrong tires being installed on vehicle. Not worth the risk in either case. My store actually sells 'ZR' rated tires in your size for $100.00 each. That includes mounting and balancing and disposal fees. $400.00 plus tax out the door price.
- Q: Both of the rear tires of my car are worn out but the two front tires are still good. Should i replace the tires right away or is it fine like that for about a month?
- I've rewritten your question: Is it a ok to drive a month on worn-out tires? The answer: Of course not. Obviously your own safety as well as others is at risk here. Tires are your contact with the road surface, and you want quality down there on all four tires! When you're at the tire store, ask the service people to show you how to check the tread depth and how to regularly check the air pressure. In many states it's actually illegal to be driving on tires with less than a minimum tread depth of 2 / 32nds of an inch. Purchase a tire pressure guage if you don't own one. And, check your car's owner's manual for the recommended rotation schedule and procedure for your car. And happy, SAFE driving!
- Q: Is it because the narrower tire at the same pressure is under inflated?
- The setting where that discussion is relevant is on high performance road bikes. And even there, narrow means around 23-25 mm and wide means maybe 28-30 mm. MTB wide isn't part of the discussion. Why depends on several things. Sometimes a wider tire will make a certain rim more aerodynamic, which can be important on a high performance road bike. If you run a narrower tire, you have to have higher pressure to avoid snakebite punctures. Higher pressure means that the wheel/bike will get bouncier. Bounce means losing ground contact. Losing ground contact means losing traction and scary handling, and lower speed. Last is rolling resistance, which comes from the rubber deforming around the contact patch. A narrower tire will have a longer contact patch, with more deformation and more rolling resistance.
- Q: Im tired.but not hungry.
- Hungry. Not really tired, just bored.
