- Q:What pressure should Hankook Radial K106 Tires be at on a 2004 Saturn Ion-3?
- The make and model of tire are irrelevant. Only the size and application (type of vehicle) matter when it comes to inflation pressure. Your Saturn came from the factory with tires sized P205/55R16 89H. Any tire of that size no matter what brand or model should be inflated to 30 psi front and rear according to Saturn. This information is found on a plate inside the drivers door frame by the way. Even if your tires are sized 205/55R16 91H (European standard) the inflation pressure would be the same.
- Q:Just found out my tire had a nail in it and need to find a place that will do it reliably. Any suggestions?
- Many Walmart TLE centers will NOT patch a tire for you. Take it to an independent garage or auto shop. They'll dismount the tire, put a patch and plug in it, and leak-test it before sending you back out on the road. Whatever you do, if you want to save the tire, do NOT put that Slime or Fix-a-Flat in it. Just drive on the spare until you can get the tire patched.
- Q:What makes Schwalbe tires so great? I see they are recommended a lot here. I might include them in my next tire purchase.
- Theoretically Schwalbe tyres are better because they are supposed to be technologically advanced and incorporate puncture protection which makes them more resistant to flats. My personal experience however with Schwalbe tyres is that they are on a par with other top brands of tyres like Michelin and Continental but not necessarily superior to them. Every cyclist will have their own preferences and I usually buy Vittoria tyres.
- Q:i‘ve heard snow tires*studded tires* are illegal in ny. Does anyone know if thats true?
- i own a repair shop, and i have heard the same thing about other states also,I'm not sure if there's any truth to it though,i cant see why they would be against the law to have on,it don't look like they could hurt anything, you might try looking up your states governing laws ,and this might help you some with it,good luck on it.
- Q:what is the tyre pessures fo 195/45 r15 78v
- The maximum tire pressure should be moulded into the sidewall on every tire. But, that is only the maximum pressure for that specific tire. You should always go by the vehicle manufacturer's tire inflation specifications for best fuel economy, and ride comfort. Most manufacturer's put a sticker in the door jamb, or glove box, sometimes it's even behind the fuel door. When in doubt, about 35 psi should get you down the road without abnormal tire wear, and decent fuel economy.
- Q:Wireless devices hidden in the tires?Hidden wires somewhere?Do they have batteries that run out or do they somehow get power through the rotors?
- TPMS (Tire Pressue Monitoring Sensors) are inside the tires and are modules that are part of the valve stem. At least in my tires they are. Yes, they have batteries. Most tire places charge a small extra fee to rebuild them when replacing the tires.
- Q:I am looking ot buy a set of rim that are 16x8 (American Racing Baja). They currently have P255/70 tires mounted on the rims. How could I find out what would be the largest tire to fit these rims? Does anyone know? Thanks
- your rims are 8 wide at the seal. the best way to figure out how large you can go is to put the tires on the vehicle and measure how much space you have between the tire and the fenderwell. then go to a tire dealer and tell them your measurements and they can tell you what will work.
- Q:ok so i purchased 16 inch Rota Slipstreams (blk). I only got the wheels, now i need tires. can i go to a regular tire facility? is it gonna be expensive? What size tires do i need?
- 16 in, rims ditate same size tires? what kinda car is it and what look do wish to achieve? I'd recommend say a 255X75X16 all season ? they are profile and lots of tread? more racier look may be a 70 series tire?
- Q:Ive made sure my tyre is in the therim properly.
- You probably have the valve above the tyre bead, simply push valve inside tyre [when flat]. Also check no tube is showing when the tyre is flat as when you press the sides together no tube should be showing. Also check that the tube is not too big and you have the correct size tyre and tube [Have seen people fit 630 tyres to a 622 rim!]. Also overinflation can force a tyre off a rim, most tyres are happy at 4 BAR. Using Schwalbe Easyfit liquid alse prevents this too as tyres can stick and go lumpy on the rim causing your problem. The easiest thing to do is use the liquid from a discarded bottle then spray around both sides. Inflate with a hand pump, then once beaded finish off with a track pump. Talc inside the tyre plus rubbing the tube with talc also helps as well.
- Q:Does anyone know, under normal circumstances, how long it would take a tire to dry rot? I bought a used car, and found out immediately that the tires were dry rotted. The car is only 2 years old, and tires are up to $225/ea. I want to know if I have a fight against the dealership. I had the BMW dealership (not where I bought it) and Pep Boys inspect the tires, and both concluded that they were dry rotted, and losing air because of that fact.
- Take it to a tire store and have them pull the DOT manufacturer date code off the side it will tell you exactly how old the tires are. If the tires have been expose to some chemicals they can and will prematurely degrade the tires. I have seen some tires less than six months old dry rot. They have usually been of less than the best quality to start with or were blems or old stock.
