- Q: I recently bought new tires for my 07‘ Chevy Silverado and I was asking about larger rims and tires possibly 20 inch or more and the gentleman said that larger rims and tires on newer vehicles will affect my on board computer and he does not recomend it. Is this true? I see vehicles all the time with larger rims and tires.
- Yes, it will definitely affect the calculations. The onboard computer does not know what size tires you put on - it has been setup by the factory to assume the diameter of the factory recommended tires that are on the tire sticker (usually located on the driver side door frame). If you are lucky to have a computer that you can reprogram then good for you - most do not allow changing the tire size AFAIK. Those other people who have changed their tires are also having issues, but for the most part they might not realize the calculations have been off, since the change might be small for them.
- Q: Will these tires work for my Mitsubishi?
- They will physically fit, but your current tyres have a Z speed rating You need to check if your car needs that, and I suspect it does. The tyre fitter should know the answer and it will also be in the owners handbook.
- Q: I just recently got new tires, because my back one was worn out, and my front one was in good condition. I replaced them both because now they‘re equal. I‘m just wondering if you should rotate your bike tires to keep the back tire from wearing out so fast. My old tires lasted about a year and 2 months. But the back one was bad for a long time. So should I rotate them? And how often??
- No! This is a common misconception because people are used to doing it with their cars. On a bicycle, the front tire is much more important for the stability of the bike.
- Q: Anyone have any info on Dextero tires from Walmart? Are they any good? Any or all info would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
- Dont listen to the first guy. You would need to go to the recruiter and tell them you are interested in switching. e will work with you in seeing whether or not you qualify for HM. If you do, he will have to put in some paperwork to see if they will allow you to switch rates. If they can, they will allow you to switch. Keep in mind that this will most likely change the date you leave for boot camp. Whatever you do, do NOT wait until you get to boot camp, as they no longer allow you to swap from one rate to another once you arrive in Great Lakes.
- Q: with the stock rim being 15x 6.5 and the current rim being 15x7 how much does that change the tire size and width when changing tires
- Not much, a tire that fit on the stock wheel should work with the current wheel.
- Q: want find objective of tyre recycle
- To get rid of them. They really can't be used as is.
- Q: I just blew out a tire on my car. The tire says it's 225/45r18 .. Is that a somewhat low profile tire? I have it on a set of 20's. Basically what I'm asking is if 225/45r18 can be just a low profile tire? Or can it also range from being a thick tire to a low profile tire? Idk.. How do tire sizes work?
- Decoding a tire sidewall: The first letter (in your case, probably a "P") represents a "passenger" vehicle (car) tire. The first number, the "225" is the width of the tire at its widest point in millimeters, when mounted on the correct size wheel. The second number, the 45, is the ASPECT RATIO between the height of the sidewall and the width of the tire. In this case, the height of the tire's sidewall is 45% of the width of the tire. The lower this number, the lower the profile of the tire. As an example, the sidewall height ratio for a regular passenger car tire is around 70-85, meaning the height of the sidewall is 70% to 85% the width of the tire. (So, if your tire is 225 mm wide, the sidewall will be 45% of that high, or 101.25 mm high.) The "r" designates a "radial" ply tire. The last number (in your case, 18) indicates the tire will fit onto an 18 inch rim. So, as another poster pointed out, if your tire is a 225/45r18 then you have 18-inch rims.
- Q: Question, one of my tires was destroyed (huge hole from hitting a rock or something, can't be repaired). My question is, I can't find the same brand tire as the one I had, so I have to go with a different brand than the other 4 tires on my car. Does this matter at all? 1 tire will be a different brand than the other tires but the tire will obviously fit the car (according the the size, width, etc. on the other tires). So does brand make that much of a difference if it's only the one tire? It's my front right tire. It's a 4 door Sedan.
- No not really. As long as they are equally rated you will be fine.
- Q: I came across some tire‘s today and the size on the tire reads 220/55/390 what kind of tire size is this and what type of vehicle do they go on?
- that tire size is the old metric size tire Michelin made for a very few selected sports cars in the mid 80's from ford mustangs to BMW. The 390 mm wheel will only fit a 390 mm tire that why a majority of people converted over to 14 inch wheel to fit their vehicle because the price and availability of the 390' s is expensive and few unlike the 14 inch tire which is a dime a dozen.
- Q: What tools are needed to repair a car tire?
- Tire wrench cylinder wrench knock version
