Q: I‘ve been noticing some dry rotting along the surface of all 4 of my tires and the tread is beginning to significantly wear down. Is there anything I should know before purchasing new tires? They will be for my 1994 Camaro z28 and I am looking to purchase high performance ones. And how much roughly will this cost? Thanks in advance
I know this sounds a little crazy, but try putting Corvette tires on- Yes, they're a little large but I own a '95 Camaro with a body kit on it, such as a skirt, and it looks absolutely amazing and the performance couldn't possibly be better. Good luck!
Q: Dont want to much tire, want like low profile tires that will look good and not fugly.Recommended tire brand?
The brand I sell the most of are Falkens, quality and price these seem to be the best for my customers. When getting a low profile tire the most important thing is clearance when the wheel is turned. Remember no matter what any tire dealer tells you or what brand the lower the profile the stiffer the ride. The size of the rim determines the width of the tire also. A standard tire will not mount correctly on a wide rim if it mounts at all. The only way to determine the right tire size is not only what size your rim is, but also the original factory size recommended on it. Every size as an equal in a smaller or bigger size within a 3% margin that will fit like the OEM tires.
Q: if you want to check to see if your tires need air the service manual of your car warns you against checking the tire pressure when the tire is hot WHY?
try a tarp or a sheet of painter's plastic (from a hardware store) and then a few blankets on top of that. when you sleep outside, you'll probably be cold at night and wake up kind of dewy and damp, so make sure you stay warm enough
Q: I recently bought a Kinetic Kurt trainer- I wanted to buy a training tire so it would be quieter and not wear out my good rear tire. The guy at REI told me I might as well go with a regular tire, use my normal tube and just buy a cheepo tire. Is he right? Is there a reason why I might want a trainer specific tire?
Interesting question but I believe that if you consider the physics of a trainer you'll find that there will be little wear on the tire when you're using the trainer. What causes wear on a tire is the rubbing together of the road surface and the tire as it rolls, leans in turns and reduces your speed when braking. Remember that the only points of contact between your bike and the road surface are the tires. Of course, the rougher the surface of the road the more wear will occur. When you're on a trainer the tire is in constant contact with the generally smooth surface of the trainer and there's minimal friction between the two round objects turning at the same speed so tire wear is minimal. In a trainer there's no leaning in the turns, no braking, and no rubbing between a rolling tire and a static road surface. The biggest single reason for using a different tire would be the noise issue. The more aggressive the tread design the more noise it'll make on the trainer or on the road. I think that for the most part, if your good tire were a smoother tread, any wear occurring while it was in the trainer would be negligible over the long haul.
Q: On a rear wheel drive vehicle, which tires take the most wear, the front tires or the back tires, and why?
The front tires always wear faster no matter what the drivetrain configuration if you drive like a normal person (ie: don't treat every stoplight like a dragstrip). They do 80% of the stopping and all the steering which causes a lot of friction and friction is what wears the tires.
Q: i bought a peugeot (new) in november 06 and wondered how often the tyres should be changed? and are they under warantee?
You should get new tires when the tread is wearing down.
Q: Shopping for tires for my motorcycle and they are listed as either front of rear, the tread all looks similar, just wondering what the differences are?Our trucks and cars use the same type of tires front and rear so it got my curiosity up.
On motorcycle tires it can be different tire to tire but usually the difference is tread and the way the direction bands and the way they were designed to take force. Example a front tire is designed for breaking force not acceleration a rear tire is designed for acceleration with slight braking force. That being said i have run many a tire backwards i road race and tracks like little talladaga are mostly lefts so i run the tire the proper direction until it has worn the i spin it around to where the other side as well. This can work but be careful i do this on tires without rain grooves a tire is directional for both the inner bands and the tread a tire is designed to disperse the water as it rolls over it when on backwards this will not happen as well or maybe not at all. Most tires today can be run on either but only under certain circumstances. One example is i had a bike that they no longer made a high performance rear tire in the size i needed so i took a front tire and mounted it backwards this enabled it to receive the force the way the manufacture intended. If a front tire is designed to brake the spin it around and that is acceleration forces. But it will not handle water dissipation as it was designed to do but i used it in fair weather and on a track so that was not a issue good luck.
Q: What is the consumption tax rate (tax) of the car tire tax?
The radial tires in the tire tires (radial tires) are tires in the tire structure in which the carcass cords are arranged in the radial direction and there are steel cords that are close to the circumference of the belt. Refurbished tires are exempt from consumption tax. The remaining car tires at a rate of 10% of the rate of consumption tax.
Q: How to distinguish the quality of car tires
Goodyear Michelin Henderson can also be
Q: I recently got a new set of tires for my truck, which are not as heavy duty as the originals since I do not haul that heavy of that weight anymore. Do I follow the psi on the tires or what is on the door?
Follow the recommended PSI specified on your door. The max PSI listed on any given tire is just that, a max. And should only be considered if and when hauling very heavy loads. If you, as you say, are not hauling any heavy weight, it is advisable to stick very close to the recommended PSI.
