- Q: Cause my car tires take 30 PSI and my bike tores take about 40-65 PSI? What is this all about?? Car tires are bigger than bike tires!
- bike tires are thin and made of weak construction so they require a tube and high psi my bike tires take 115 psi most cars take 35 and big trucks take 80 and up
- Q: There is an egg shaped lump on my bicycle tyre. Why does this happen? Do I need a new tyre or inner tube?
- Two possible problems that come to mind immediately. #1) The tire (tyre) has scraped up against a curb or been run through a pot-hole breaking the cords under the outer rubber layer. The tire (tyre) may or may not show signs of a scrape. If this is the case, the tire needs to be replaced ASAP. #2) Is the tire (tyre) seated properly on the rim? This is a common problem on older bikes with steel wheels, but can also happen rarely on newer bike with alloy wheels. Flip the bike upside down spin the wheel slowly. Does it seem to be seated properly at all points? If not, deflate the tire (tyre) and put a few dabs of soapy water around the bead. This will act as a lubricant. Re-inflate the tire.
- Q: how would one know the age of a tire, like most things have a time that the item expaire,do tires ?? i had a tire that came apart on the hiway last year.

- Q: I have a 2007 V6 Mustang with tire size P215/65R16. I would like a wider tire without changing the 16quot; rims. What is the next wider tire size.
- first off the first number is how wide the tire is in millimeters not centimeters. If the tire was 215 centimeters wide that would be like 8 feet wide. second the next number 65 is a measurement of the side walls. once again, this is in millimeters, not centimeters. Like someone else stated this is a percentage of the overall width of the tire as well. the last number is the radius of the tire (the distance around the tire) this is measured in inches. Then there is a letter that comes after the radius which is the speed rating of the tire (the maxinum speed the tire can be saftely traveled on) the higher the letter the higher the speed, example A= very slow Z= very fast. The next size tire is P225/65 R 16 but if I were you I would go with something like a 245/50 R 16 This would look much better, since the middle number is lower your sidewalls will be shorter (i.e. a lower profile tire) This is a much better look for a sports car and all of the top end sports cars have a low profile tire. I own a 04 cobra and run 315/35 R 17 on the back . Your only hold up will be the width of your rims, I think you have 16''x8'' rims so putting 245's on will be no problem. Check with the guys at discount tire, they really do a great job at knowing what tires you are able to put on what cars/rims.
- Q: I need to buy tires for my car, but this is the first time I am buying tires. I have offers from Sullivan Tires and Town fair tires. Sullivan tires is offering me YOKOHAMA AVID TRZ for $70.87 (with 13.99 for balancing and $60 for alignment) while The Town fair tire is offering me BRIDGESTONE INSIGNIA SE200 for $72.00/tire (with 12.95 for balancing and front alignment INCLUDED). Which TIRE / DEAL should I go for? I will really appreciate any suggestions since I am completely new with this tire buying thing.
- I had to buy tires last year and I went through the same thing. Since I don't know anything useful about the different tire brands, I started by looking at the tires in the price range I was limited to. Then from there, I looked at the warranty for each tire I looked at. I also checked my cars' manual to make sure I got the right size. Then, I looked at what was included. If the Bridgestone tires have a warranty you are comfortable with, I woudl go with those since the alignment is included. You woudl think the balancing would be included as well but every place has its' own deals. My car did not need an alignment when I bought the tires, and now that there are 20k miles on them, I still don't need one. To answer your original question, you need an alignment when you drive down a straight road and take your hands off the wheel, and your car does not continue moving straight. OR If you step on the brakes, the car tries to pull either left or right.
- Q: How good studded tires preform at winter with with studs removed comparing to studdeless winter tires?
- I ran studded tires in Washington State and Northern Idaho for several years because of the road and weather conditions they get there, but last I heard they were seriously considering making metal studs illegal because of all the road damage they cause. In any case, studs DO help with starting traction when you're sitting on ice, BUT they're NOT a huge amount of help with stopping or going around corners. As always, the best way to get around in winter driving conditions is to SLOW DOWN and be aware of what the road surface is like. A good quality set of winter traction tires is almost as good as studs, and they don't harm the road surfaces.
- Q: More than the front.
- Michelin Bridgestone
- Q: How much does it cost to buy new car tires for your car.
- Well, there were last time I counted 1,740 different sizes of passenger or light truck tire and over 100 major tire manufacturers offering thousands of different models of tires. Could you be a bit more specific?
- Q: I‘m looking for a good all weather tire, we have harsh winters. I was given a price on Firestone Destination AT - is this a good tire, what other options?
- Well we got some good tires out now a days. The Firestone Destination AT's are good tires, so are the Destination MT's. BFG All Terrains are very good too and so are the BFG Mud Terrain. And of course the Goodyear MTR's are very nice tires that will last a long time. Just as long as you dont do a lot of burn outs those tires I listed will last a very long time and work good threw snow/mud.
- Q: when i go to a tire store to buy new tires, they add a tire disposal fee with the new tire. is it an EPA law or what?
- The technicians never read the whole work order. When I get tires I always tell them no new stem no balance. I don’t pay for them but the guy in shop does it anyway. 99.999999% of the work order says stems and balance. So the guy in the shop just does mine that way not even knowing he was not suppose to. That’s what happened to you only in reverse. You needed to speak up right then when you were paying. You would have a hard time proving it after the fact. On the other hand a good service manager would correct your problem to keep you as a happy repeat customer.
