- Q: I have recently come into possession of a really good couch. The ONLY problem being is that it has stains on it, and smells a little. Besides that, it's brand spankin' new and in nice condition (no rips or tears) / everything in tact. I've decided to make a project out of this couch, as I know that most of the time, suede can be a b17ch to clean, but honestly, my husband and I don't have the money for a new couch as all of our money is going towards getting a new car. So right now I'm looking at ways to get stains out, make the suede look nicer, if not great, and get rid of the little tangy smell. More than likely, I'll eventually get a slipcover for it, but right now, I'd like it in a decent condition :)
- I use a product by the name of Capture. I have been purchasing it at the Home Depot. A starter kit contains 1 container of dry cleaning powder, 1 bottle of spray and a brush. You spray the sofa with the dirt removing spray then apply the dry cleaning powder to the sofa and then brush it in. Wait about one half hour then use your vacum cleaner to remove the dry powder. If it's not clean repeat the process. It cost about $15.00 for this kit and the powder has a fresh scent and it's less expensive then having someone come in and clean your sofa fo you.

- You need to use a good quality water based foam leather cleaner. Strong cleaner or Maxi Cleaner if it ivery dirty. With light coloured furniture dye transfer from clothing can be a problem although using a good quality leather protector will help inhibit this. DO NOT use anything containing oils, waxes or silicones. (Most 'conditioners' contain waxes or oils) and furniture polish contains silicones BABY WIPES are the worst thing you can use as they will destroy the finish on your leather. They are very strong alkiline cleaners to neutralise urine (acid) on babys skin so they are not the right thing to use on leather. Saddle soap is too harsh to use on todays furniture. A lot of leather wipes contain chemicals which will also destroy the finish or leave residues on the leather which will damage it. They are not cheap in the long run as you would need a lot to clean a whole leather sofa. A bottle of foam cleaner should do your furniture 1-2 times. Fairy liquid contains more salt these days to get dishes clean and this will break the finish down on your leather. This has been verified by the manufacturers (as with the baby wipes). You should also follow cleaning with a good water based leather protector which will act like a 'scotchgard' and inhibit dirt and stains from being absorbed and make cleaning easier the next time. Dry leather needs rehydrating with water and oils and waxes should not be used as the natural oils do not dry out of leather.

- I used to have a Broyhill living room set and it wore wonderfully. Survived two boys, a cat and a dog. I would buy this brand again.

- hmmm make sure it is a good quality, also you may want to try them out. Also try finding a good seller and maybe ask others of what sofa to get and maybe ask some people what they think of the sofa if they have one. i hope that that helped
