Q:2 days ago our carpet started leaking. None of our pluming goes underneath it which amazes us. We have no money for plumbers or anyone to check on it. We do have a water heater next to it but its in ground. and we check on it every 2 days and there are no leaks leading to it.
Carpet doesn't leak. Period. If it's water, it's coming from somewhere. Not finding the problem and leaving the carpet wet will cause: Mold to grow on the carpet. The carpet will delaminate (the layers of woven material and backing will come apart). Your pad will get really stinky. This is a potential health hazard, at minimum it could cause allergies and rashes. I'd say this isn't something to ignore, the moisture is coming from SOMEWHERE, you need to figure out what is causing it and stop it. Then, you'll need to dry out the carpet. If the pad is wet you need to pull the carpet off the tack strips that run around the edges of the room and remove any pad that is wet. The pad will need to be replaced and the carpet restretched into the room.
Q:Most of the powder carpet freshners have so much perfume in them they trigger a migraine and I can't use them. Not to mention they are pretty pricey for what you actually get. Is plain ole' Arm Hammer baking soda a good alternative? Any other suggestions for freshing carpet?
Plain ole' Arm Hammer baking soda is the best! Sprinkle it on and let it set for at least a couple of hours and overnight would be great. Then vacuum well.....................Good Luck!
Q:hi there, i just purchased a yoga dvd (to do at home), and i was wondering if it can be done on carpet (as my whole house is carpeted!) will it be bad to do it on carpet? if it is
yes you can
Q:my cat is scratching where the carpet meets the door frame. i am wondering if there is such a thing that will hug the door frame and protect the carpet on the floor. if i could attach the a picture i would.
There are LOTS of solutions at your local Lowe's/ Home Depot. Ask them for plastic to go over carpet that will stick and stay there. Not temp stuff for walking, either. Also look at Office depot and such. The things that you put on carpet for chairs to roll on might be a great idea. Also, you may wanna get a cat scratch post to put by the door?
Q:How to turn over the carpet when people stand on it
If you are skilled, just need 20 seconds, with your feet to hook up the carpet. There is a good way to stand in the corner, so it will be very convenient, but to coordinate it, the moment of jumping, pull out it. no problem, then we put the other foot on over half carpet again, finally use feet to pave smoothly.
Q:How big is the carpet of Yoga
1.8 meters
Q:We are currently in a rental and our dogs chewed up some of our carpet. The carpet is berber and we have left over carpet in storage from when it was installed. One chewed up piece is in a corner and the other is a long rectangle area maybe 2 feet long by 7 or 8 inches wide. That area that is chewed up is in the middle of the carpet. Is there any way to just cut out the peices and replace them with the extra carpet we have or is that not doable with berber carpet? If we can do it can you tell me how or who to contact. Thank you so much!
I have repaired a place like that. I laid out a piece just bigger than the bad spot, cut through both layers, that left the new cut an exact match of where the old was cut out. then I used the hot glue gun and glued it in very carefully. It looks good but if you look close you can see the seam. Hope this is helpful.
Q:I want to clean my carpet but stainz and deep down dirt is a problem, is there something i can add to the water of my carpet cleaner along with the cleaner i would use to improve the results? And maybe there is a home remedy for this and something for a pre-spot cleaner to help break up the stains? Thanks for the help
ok,lets face the facts.home carpet shampooers are only for touch up they don,t deep clean no matter what you try.i use stanly steamer.to do the deep sanitizing and deep cleaning once a year and touch up with my rug doctor shampooer as needed.well worth the money and when you add up the time and cost of trying to do it yourself it is darn near a free bee.check them out.don,t cost to ask.
Q:I have a cleaning company and am about to start doing carpet cleaning, Im trying to find a inexpensive solution.. that works well..Vinegar or Ammonia?
The only time that I would use vinegar on a carpet is to spot clean a stain like coffee, cola, or chocolate. You mix 1 part vinegar and 2 parts water. Sponge it on, and then keep blotting it with clean cloths until it's gone.
Q:Water from a faulty air conditioner dripped onto a small area of the fitted carpet in our bedroom. The patch is no longer wet, perhaps slightly damp, but the smell is horrible. Any advice please. Changing the carpet is not an option.
pull the carpet up in that spot and make sure its dry underneath and the padding is dry also. Spray ammonia (super cheap in the detergent section) onto the wood subflooring and also on the padding and the carpet underside and top. Prop them up with books or something and sit a fan in that area to dry it. The smell is mildew and it will get worse unless you can be certain the wood and padding and everything are dry. The ammonia will kill the mildew and the smell. I've done this before successfully. Good luck
