Placed under the rug they stop the rug from scooting or moving when walked on. Get the type mage for rugs over carpet because some are for rugs over hardwood and rugs over a solid surface. Know your rug size since they come in many sizes and can be cut to fit using scissors. They do loose the tacky feeling over time and you just wash them on a gentle cycle to revive that tackinesss.
