Q: My diningroom and livingroom are together so I've painted them a nice yellow...and my trim is wood most of my furniture is oak and I have wood flooring, what color rug would fit perfect with my living-dining area?? And any suggestions on where I can find a good price for one?
I have a very similar design with white oak floors, clear fir trim, and chamois walls. I chose a heavy herringbone seagrass rug with a wide border closely matched to the seagrass colors. The rug has been down for over a year, and has held up very well. My 2 year old lab has slobbed on it with his tennis ball, and thrown-up on it a few times during his experimental food stage. I was able to clean the mess up quickly, and it didn't stain. The colors are green to brown and seem to blend in real well with the yellowy chamois color.
Q: I used RESOLVE High Traffic Carpet Cleaning Kit a few months ago. I didn't think it even worked, but to my dismay, I believe it has made my carpet dirtier. I probably should have tried getting some of the soap up, but I had no idea that leaving soap (even if the directions tell you that you only need to vacuum) that it could lead to the stains sticking more.So now, the areas that I used the product on have turn one shade away from black (we have white carpet).I just used a Bissell carpet steamer and the whole area looks the same!WHAT DO I DO?!I fear a professional won't be able to get it out either...
Modern carpets are stain resistant because their treated with a stain blocker. Scotch guard is one of many treatments. The problem is the carpets have to be retreated, when you shampoo a little spot you pick up the dirt and remove the stain block. Now that area is wide open to stains. If you don't reapply the stain blocker. You have removed the stain blocker and now really stained the carpet, by doing it yourself. I would find a carpet service that offers dying carpets.I've seen this work, by the dye is always darker to cover discolored carpet. You might have sections of the carpet replaced that are beyond cleaning, if it's wall to wall and you can save some of it. Compare my suggestions to replacement cost.
Q: What is the material of pp in carpet?
it should be polypropylene, a kind of plastic. . .
Q: How to deal with the oil stain on the carpet after being absorbing by flour?
Since it has been absorbed by flour, then you'd better dry the carpet in the sun, or use the hair dryer to blow it, then along the direction of the wool carpet, brush the flour attached on the carpet, vacuum surface grinding, doing this for several tiimes. . . . .
Q: so the cat pooped on the rug.i cleaned it up.it smelled.i tried to cover it up with bleach.it left a big stain.i dont want to buy any stain remover.now what do i do?
unfortunately, there is no way to get a bleach stain out of a carpet. carpet dye is added topically, so what you have done is taken the color out of the rug. you may be able to have it repaired... if you have a large enough piece of carpet in a closet, an experienced carpet installer may be able to cut out the damaged piece and replace it . it won't be a perfect fix, but it will be better that what you have now.. for future reference NEVER use bleach on carpet, it is not color fast, and depending on the kind of carpet, you may melt the carpet. before using any kind of cleaning product, you should test it in a closet, or an inconspicuous area.
Q: My light colored carpets have left over soap stains from when a cleanser was used to remove pet stains. Now there are white stains on my carpets. I have tried filling a carpet cleaner with hot water and going over the stains with that but that seems to have just spread the left over soap stain. HELP! How do I remove these stains for good?
What did you use for a cleanser? If you used a product designed for laundry use, you may have damaged the carpet dyes permanently. If not and it is just plain soap, do what you do when you put shampoo in your hair, you rinse it out. Leaving soap ,from spotting stains, will attract dirt/soil because the residue becomes sticky and acts like a dirt magnet. For around $30.00 you can purchase a shop vac, small one of course, that will vacuum water. Rinse and suck, rinse and suck, numerous times on these spots, to remove the soapy residue. Dry with a terry cloth towel and a fan. (BOX TYPE) If you continue to allow a leaking pet on your carpet, you will be working on stains from urine for the rest of you life. If you would like further advice for removing urine from the carpeting, come back with a new question. See you
Q: I spilled Sunny D on my white shag carpet any ideas of how to get it out?
If it were me, I'd take the opportunity to get rid of the shag carpet and replace it with something more practical. Otherwise ... blot the area dry as quickly and thoroughly as possible, insuring you also absorb the fluid from the padding. Once the bulk of the liquid has been removed, I'd spritz the area with water and allow it to sit for about five minutes, then repeat the blotting. Repeat until no color remains. Consider an inexpensive shampoo suitable for shag if needed.
Q: could i turn my highland out in winter with a summer turnout/sheet with a rambo fleece underneath ( best fleece on the market ) because hes a highland i dont want him caked in thick heavy turnouts. i just think a summer turnout would be enough to keep the snow off his fleece which is really what i want. i will only use this method on snowy/frosty days.
Yeah maybe. But the thin rug may rip easily if he rolls on frosty ground and catches himself, or the snow may melt in the middle of the night and the water will seep through the rug and soak the fleece. You would be better off buying a proper turnout rug. Just use a old summer sheet and see if it works, if not, buy a turnout rug. Good luck! x x :)
Q: I'm looking for a bright color rug that would pop under my taupe sectional sofa, floor is wood and the walls are white. The curtain is a solid Navy color. What colors do you think would look nice. Also, should the rug go under the sectional, if so all the way or just be small enough to fit in front of it.
light blue or slate blue rug in front of sectional not under it
Q: I have never purchased new carpet and do not know where to begin. What type of carpet is best for high traffic areas? This will be stairs, hallway and bedroom.
We just purchased a new carpet for our home, I had never purchased one new before either. The one we got was a Mohawk brand with stain guard on it. Make sure the seller at the carpet place explains the yarn count to you too. This makes a big difference in carpet. Also when buying a padding for underneath the carpet, we bought a platinum one because of the high traffic here and we wanted a little cushion on the floors.
