Q: how do I replace a drain in my bathroom sink?: You will need to buy a variety of parts. A sink trap (U shaped) plus any parts to connect to drain. Make sure you get the right size for sink and outlet pipe. Plastic or copper will depend on age of house.

Q: both the sinks are flooding from the drain up. there is crap in the sink from the drain. its disgusting! and to keep it from overflowing i have to just pour the water out with a cup into the tub. help please!: Get a bucket place it under the P trap under the sink. Remove the compression nut on the trap and loosen the one holding the pipe in place at the wall. Drain the trap and if the line is full let it back drain into the bucket dump it in the toilet instaed of the the tub. Why the toilet ? It handles aoil and paper on a regular basis, the tub doesn't. There fore the tub drain is prone to clogging just as bad as the sink., Clean the trap out with hot water and scrub it out with a flexible brush. Run a sink tape down the drain and give it a few hardy turns and work it in and out of the drain pipe. This will dislodge most clogs and then just reassemble and flush the sink with Hot water.

Q: Our house was built in 1992. The faucet is old and needs to be replaced. At one point we had purchased a Moen faucet, but the new faucet had like rigid pipe connections whereas the old one has what appears to be soft copper much smaller pipe connections. Im just wondering if this is something that is not easily done. Do they still sell the faucets with the soft copper lines? Or do we need a plumber to do this?: It is not too tough depending on your skills. You will need a basin wrench. You will have to disconnect the supply lines (both hot and cold) and remove the two nuts holding the old faucet in place. Next you need to install the new faucet which is sometimes a two man job, one to hold the faucet straight and the other to tighten the nuts. I suggest you replace your supply lines with flexible lines. Last but not least you will need to hook up the stopper rod that open and closes the stopper in the sink. Well that is how it is done. Q: I have tried draino, but I think I need to pull out the drain and remove the hair and stuff. It drains really slow. I don't know if I should call the landlord because it is something small. Either it just lifts out (rare) or it is held in place by a rod. Remove the rod by loosening the nut, located in the back of the drain pipe, just below the sink. Once the nut is loose, grab the stopper with one hand and pull the rod out enough to release the stopper. When you pull the stopper out, some hair might come with it. Look down inside the drain and, if there's more hair, grab a piece of wire, make a little hook on the end and pull out the rest of the clog. Reassemble the stopper, which can be a little tricky the first few times, but will work. Tighten the nut and turn the water on. Check for leaks at the nut, tighten a little if necessary. Sometimes teflon tape is required, but not usually. If it still doesn't drain, call the landlord, you've done enough. Good Luck

Q: Why doesnt my bathroom sink drain right?: I never use a liquid plumber, as if it doesn't work, you really need to use gloves as it is acid

If it were a mainline stoppage all fixtures would be plugged and you would have sewage in your tub or shower because it the lowest point. Dont buy draino first. Try taking the pop up drain plug out and remove any hair or debris thats collected. You can also try a plunger which works best when you plug the overflow hole with your finger or wet rag. Its usually hair caught on the bar that moves the stopper up and down.
