- Q: My bathroom sink has a really, REALLY slow drain. Im not sure of what the parts are called so bare with me. I was able to take the bottom pipe, at that makes the u, at the bottom of the sink drain out and there was nothing there. I looked up, through the sink drain and that was clear. I then took a snake and put it into the wall and snaked the pipe as far as I could. I did get "gunk" and I thought that I cleared whatever was blocking the pipe creating the slow drain, but apparently I didnt. Right now Im just waiting for the sink to drain again to take that U off so I can snake the wall again. Thats all I can think of doing. Is there anything else for me to do, or is just keep snaking it my only option?
- Not a plumber but I would try a longer snake or use compressed air with the pipes full of water.

- ben, bathroom sinks are generally hung to the wall using a metal support bracket. remove any silicone around the sink's perimeter. remove water and drain connections, simply pry sink upward and it shall come off - drywall and or surface texture might come off as well so use care -
- Q: In my bathroom, I have a ball-joint sink valve. Which means it's a single rotating handle. Pushing it up turns it on. To the left, hot water. To the right, cold water. My dilemma is, if I push it all the way to the left, no water comes out. If I rest it in a certain position to the left, it sputters, and eventually cuts off altogether. In other words, it's a pain in the butt to get hot water out. I'm assuming it needs to be repaired, but could it also be that it is an energy saving faucet? - Depends on how handy you are. Sound like there is sediment clogging the openings. If you want to tackle the job yourself, then go under the sink and turn off both valves in the lines to the faucet. Then remove the retainer ring around the handle. May have to remove handle with allen wrench first and then the retainer ring. Lift out the ball and check for any clogs internally in it. Remove carefully the rubber O rings in the cavity where the ball was, and then put a rag over the fixture and slowly turn on the valves under the sink to flush out the lines. When lines are running clear, then replace the rubber O rings and then the ball and retainer ring.
- Q: I have tried draino, but I think I need to pull out the drain and remove the hair and stuff. It drains really slow. I don't know if I should call the landlord because it is something small. - The best thing that I can advise you to do, is to remove the drain pipe under the sink, where the elbow is. Make sure that you have a bucket underneath it. It can get quite messy. Clean out the elbow part of the drain pipe, that is where the clog usually is. Also, take something long to get up where the drain stop is and clean that. Then just put everything together.
