Q:How do I make a woven carpet?
According to the different laying occasions, different carpets are selected. The stampede frequent place, such as a hallway carpet, choose to wear the tufted carpet, the carpet on for a long time will cause the sparse pile pattern change and pile lodging.
Q:I recently rented a condo and the carpets were filthy. Used my Bissell in February and March to clean it. It looks better, but I still see dirt stains. Is it safe to shampoo it once a month until its clean?
You might want to consider having the carpets professionally cleaned this one time and then you can use your bissell to touch up. You could clean the carpet yourself once a month with no damage to the carpet. However, the one problem with the home cleaning units is that they do not extract enough of the water and this causes the stains to reoccur. They are good for surface cleaning, but you need to have a deep thorough cleaning to remove the stains that you still have.
Q:What are the brands of household carpets? What's good?
The traditional carpet words are relatively easy to breed mites, and take care of them would be more trouble, if the domestic brand Shanhua carpet, carpet, carpet, Tibetan sheep in the red carpet, the Swedish foreign dragon carpets, Italy Milan carpet, German ASTRA, French LOUVRE WISSENBACH carpet, Le Louvre Museum carpet, faguooushang carpet.
Q:I am Thinking of using the carpet large sqauers you can but at lowes. Any one use them and are you happy or not?
Using the carpet squares is very much like using the the hardwood flooring paneling or using ceramic tile. If done correctly they work relativly well as long as it's a small weave carpet. The important things to make sure of is that 1) The grain of the carpet all goes the same way 2) Make sure they all fit together well. If you have a piece that doesn't quite fit... toss it and use another one. 3) Make sure they are well adhered to the floor. If they are not securely glued they will shift with use and after a few months it will look like you used carpet squares.
Q:We are going to replace our flooring in the basement, it has very expensive cushony white carpet, and over the years with kids and dogs, it no longer looks white. Our basement is just under 1000 sq ft, and don't really feel like ripping all the carpet up. Its a very warm, dry basement, no dampness or leaks. So could I just put the laminate over this instead of using an underlay? Or is that just asking for trouble later on?
No - Don't do it. I thought the same as you, where even on a flat carpet the floor was very springy so much so that the joints in the boards split when furniture was returned. Had to start again with the floor!!
Q:The tar has been on the carpet for four months
Rubbing alcohol may work to remove the remaining stain. Pour a little directly onto the stain and blot with a clean dry cloth. Once the stain is lifted, blot again with a damp cloth. Lighter fluid also works much in the same manner to remove greasy stains such as tar, but take care when using this method. It should go without saying that lighter fluid, as well as rubbing alcohol and other flammable agents, shouldn’t be used near fireplaces, wood burning stoves and other sources of heat and flame. WD-40 has also been proven to remove tar from rugs and carpets. Spray a little on and let sit. The tar should lift right off with a little gentle rubbing. You can also try making your own cleaning solution. In a spray bottle mix one part mild dishwashing detergent and one part of warm water. Saturate the stain and let sit for an hour or so. When time is up, keep blotting with a thick, dry cloth until the stain is lifted. If a yellow mark remains after your remove the tar, try some hydrogen peroxide but remember, it’s bleach so be sure to test first to make sure you’re not creating an eyesore. Once you’ve completely removed the tar from the carpet, rinse the stain with lukewarm water and blot dry.
Q:I used to have a cat, but haven't since I bought a house and completely remodeled it. Now the house is done, and I'd like to get a cat again. I don't like the idea of de-clawing - I think it's cruel. But, I now have expensive furniture in the house and also 2 very expensive antique persian rugs. How is a clawed cat trained not to scratch/claw these things. I've always had problems in the past with this.
I got 2 cats. And they both know how to use da scathing post.all u got 2 do is show it 2 them. After a while they'll know not 2 scracth the rugs but the scratching post.
Q:without steam cleaning the carpet how do I remove dried on stains from rugs carpets?
I agree that a steam cleaning is the best bet, but you may also be able to blot some stains. Use a Oxi-Clean to soak the area, then immediately blot. Do it again and blot again. Do it one last time and leave a pile of folded rags or a towel on the spot then put something waterproof and heavy on the towel overnight. The rags/towel will soak up the water and hopefully the worst of the stain will be gone. I've also found Spot Shot, available in some grocery stores, to be a great carpet stain remover. Good luck!
Q:The new carpet smells great. How do you clean it?
After replacing the new carpet, first open the window to make sure the room is ventilated.Open a bottle of baking soda and spread a thin layer over the carpet. Then carefully sweep the baking soda into the carpet fiber with a broom.
Q:i spilled 4 little dots of black fabric dye..is there a way to clean it with out messing up the carpet.
Unfortunately, the dye is permanent. Your best bet is a Carpet Transplant: Cut the stained area out using a razor knife. Be careful to cut only the carpet, not the padding under it. Cut a piece of replacement carpet from a place no one will ever notice, like from inside a closet. Put the ruined carpet piece on a piece of paper and trace around it. This will be your template. Cut this out and use it as a pattern for the new piece. You want an exact match in shape. Glue the replacement piece of carpet in place using waterproof glue. Attach it to the padding underneath. Or you can sew it into place by sewing it to the existing carpet. (You will need a curved needle if you sew it in place.) The repair should be invisible when you're done. -
