5.FAQ of Gardening Reed Fence Gardening Reed Fence

Q: I heard a state legislator today on the radio talking about taxing home gardens that grow vegetables and other produce. This state is in serious economic trouble and they are looking at every possible source of revenue. The legislator stated that many home gardeners sell their produce at flea markets and do not pay any sales tax, that the produce grown even if not sold amounts to income and should be taxed. What do you think if the feasibility and practicality of this?
We all need to contribute to the system for the public services to work.
Q: Mainly because the hamster lived her whole life in an aquarium (10 gallons with 2 other female syrians!) and because it gets really cold in my room because my mom turns the heat off for some reason at night! Anyway I know not everyone loves aquariums but She seems fine even with 2 other girls SO she must be thrilled in a 20 gallon +. Whats your opinion of these 2 cages? Is there another cage you would recommend? I do not want Habirtrai, Crittertrail, Or any cheap plastic ones.
Well the base may seem a little small but that's not the problem. That cage is a guinea pig cage, so the wire spacing is meant for guinea pigs, not for hamsters, even Syrian hamsters. A Syrian hamster would most likely be able to squeeze out of the space between the wires. I got a nice cage for my teddy bear hamster and I would give you the link but Petco took it off their website. It was blue and had 3 levels (wire cage) and was $40, not on sale. But a 20-gallon tank sounds great. They don't provide great ventilation, and it's hard to attach a water bottle, but other than that they are a popular choice for Syrians.
Q: I really love sex.my husband and me never use clothes at home and we always play sex everyday.what do u think?is it health??
How is this a Home Garden question? sheesh Who cares what you and your husband do. Keep it to yourselves and don't run around talking about it to everyone.....we aren't interested.
Q: I keep finding cat poo in my garden and I don't like it.
I don't know if this has already been mentioned because I'm too impatient to read through all the answers here, but try putting some strands of fish line about 6-12 off the ground around the edge and through your garden (tied around sticks). The line will be 'invisible', and will scare the deer when it touches them. Works. Takes probably 20 minutes depending on the size of your garden.
Q: Do cucumbers planted in home garden need to be watered once a day or twince a day ? If there are two or more new small cucumbers on one branch, will they all become fruits that can be reaped ?
I live in Southeast Missouri and our cucumbers thrive like crazy every year from watering once a day in the morning or very early afternoon. If the ground stays too wet the fruit will rot before it grows big enough to pick.
Q: Most of the appliances in your home are connected in parallel so that if you turn one off, the others stay on. This doesn’t affect the amount of current flowing through each individual device. However, if you plug too many appliances in, this can cause your circuits to overload. Using Ohm’s law, explain why plugging in too many appliances can cause your circuit breakers to open.
this is the homeschooling section for parents who teach their kids at home. Try posting this in another section maybe Home Garden.
Q: My momma rat and her babies live in an aquarium glass tank. They are 4 weeks old now and CRAZY. I need to find a larger cage from them. I was going to use chicken wire and wrap it around this old cage I had (the bars were too far apart) but we are all out. Any other iddeas??? Maybe to help make the bars not so far apart/ make the babies not be able to escaoe??? I have to wean the babies in a week, I am going to put momma and her 2 girls in the aquarium until I find them homes, and keep all 5 boys in the new cage i need. PLease hellpp?
I used a large plasctic box. It says they chew threw that kind of stuff, but I have three rats and they never bit on it. I poked a hole in the side and used a little duck-tape to put thier water bottle. Then I cut up a tissue box and they like to hide in it. When my rats breed they never got threw. (It was pretty thick plastic). These are all things you can find around the house without getting ripped off by petsmart for a 150$ cage.
Q: How can you grow a home garden in a drought?
First, it depends on WHERE you are. What zone, how much rain you get annually in the drought, the heat levels and evaporation rates, and the soil. All of these can change what works best in your garden. For example, you can check out keyhole gardens in areas where the temperatures aren't frequently up into the 100's (farenheit) in the summer. You can look up how to do these - used in Africa right now and very nice way to grow plants if you can swing it. If you live somewhere like Northern New Mexico, you might try something like the Zuni waffle gardens, which help utilize lower water amounts. If you live in a hotter, drier desert, you probably want to dig down and have recessed gardens (even if it's more work in hard soil) as this collects more water during the rains and when the soil is below the level of the surround ground, the wind blows across it less and that lowers evaporation rates. Mulch can be very good, but too much mulch when you have too little rain, and the mulch absorbs all the water and the soil gets very little (this in areas where there is very little rain, about 12 inches a year or so). some large rocks over your garden, where the plants aren't growing, will keep moisture in the ground under the rocks. But if it gets too hot where you are at, the rocks can raise the closely surrounding temperature about 10 degrees or more which could stress the plants. heirloom seeds and drought resistant varieties can be very useful, if you make sure they work with your climate. The more local the seeds, the better.
